  1. Somebody call me a lawyer...I am sueing the chinstrap company!!
  2. As a person who has interviewed many coaches, you tend to develop relationships over the seasons and years, if you have treated a coach with respect even on the tough topics he will usually give an honest answer, and then go farther "off the record" You can dig and he will give you honest answers, but if you have not developed some type of relationship with the guy chances are you are going to get Bupkis....
  3. Honestly the only reason I am picking Pineville is that are a little more used to winning than McCreary.
  4. I am shocked by this score, I figured it being at MC would be the difference. This could be LONG season for the Raiders and I don't mean two or three deep in the playoffs. Now some of those "winnable" games we kept hearing about don't seem so "winnable"
  5. Corbin has a way a picking on big schools, but Corbin really struggled against a very good Harlan Co team. With the Redhounds on the road, you can make a serious aurguement for a GRC win. GRC 28 Corgin 20
  6. SL 35 LC 12 Too many players and athletes for South. LC may keep it close for a while but South will pull away late.
  7. I am going tp pick McCreary, only because it is at MCHS......neither team has had a banner scrimmage and has a big gap for competing with the better teams on their schedules. MC-13 TC-12
  8. Not hearing much out of the Whitley Campus this summer, not even hearing any good rumors at Wal-mart. Is that a good sign or a bad sign?
  9. Yes it is true, and he has been declared eligble by the KHSAA,, and has been installed as the starting QB....if you listen to the rumors at Wal-Mart. Seriously, Williamsburg now has three strong QBs who can hurt you from anywhere on the field, either by running or by throwing.
  10. Rarely has McCreary Central been in the position that they are this year. They have an opportunity to have a break through season as a team. I understand that the Watts led Raiders were pretty good, but this TEAM could be better. The biggest problem I see is the fact that you have to learn how to win and last year showed that they did not learn that lesson well enough. I can see them winning 7 or 8 games but then again I can see them winning 3 or 4....like you say that is why you play the games, looks like it is going to be an interesting season in SEKY.
  11. Seriously???? Not even close although I can see why you would want to play NL....my biggest disappointment is the fact that Whitley is not on the schedule. All it would have taken is a return game at WC. Would have been a heck of a game and an even better gate, which I guess was why the Varsity Club wanted them to play. Its all about the Benjimans baby!!!
  12. Dakstats is used by the Mid-south Conf. It seems to be pretty good.
  13. Corbin should win 8 games without breaking a sweat.....but the may have to learn how to spell runner-up
  14. Jerry Overbay has been named the new head coach at Whitley County. He coached a AAU Div. II national championship team back in the 90s. He has coached in the elementary school, middle school, and has been an assistant to Larry Anderson for several years. He takes over a Whitley program that won 18 games last year.
  15. As for earning respect, that is impossible in this job. The only way to earn your respect is to not enforce the law on you and to enforce in on everyone else.
  16. You demand respect from officers, so why cant the officer demand respect from you. As from the devils advocate, I do not expect or desire a thank you, and had you read my earlier post, I stated that I knew what came with the job when I signed on. When I was a kid I had two cousins who were officers, two brother inlays who are officers, my grandfather was sheriff of a county in WKY and I was taught to respect and admire officers. I think it is a commentary on today's society that everyone try's to rationalize everything or blame some else for their actions. Meanwhile, police officers are taking on a huge responsibilty when they take the job. They also take on a huge liability. It is clear that there is no way to change your mind about police officers, and I ignored that fact when I entered this thread with a response which is completely my fault. But I bet my retirement, which is not that much, that if you told us what you did for a living We could rail on that profession for a while too. I have several close friends who are coaches, and they take more abuse than anybody should have to stand, but they are still there and so am I. I guess the reason is that we care regardless of the less than enlightened folks that we have to deal with on a daily basis.
  17. Lowering the scores may be the only way to get officers to apply. I mean who wants to be in a profession which is so demeaned just for doing your job. If is folks like the ones generalizing and implying that all police officers are corrupt are the ones making it so hard to get good canidates to apply. I challenge any of the doubters to ride of few tours of duty and have to make a decision in a split second that is would take a lawyer about 2 years to make.....I am daggum proud to be an officer and DEFEND the rights of people who are only interested in demeaning my profession.
  18. Honestly if you have a skewed vision of police officers, then don't waste your time when you need help when somebody is breaking into your residence, when you have an accident, when your car is stolen, you have a missing child, or a thousand other bad things that can happen. The unfortunate officer who arrives to help you is in a no win situation. And it will just give you more fodder for badmouthing and generalizing a HUGE group of men and women who willing to sacrifice their very lives to save yours.......a simple thank you would do just fine.
  19. Today I was going home and I was thinking about setting the proper example to the public, just like suggested here. Well friends and neighbors, this is what happened. I set my cruise control at 70, of course I verified this with my radar. Traffic was backing up behind me and a jolly soul from north of the border (a fine citizen of Ohio) passed me. Well having set such a good example, I thought it only right that I stop him and explain that I was setting a good example and he was not being a good citizen. He asked me with a fair amount of indignation the reason he was stopped. I advised him that he was exceeding the posted speed limt. With even more indignation he further advised me that in Ohio the Highway Patrol had enought sense to give a few miles an hour over the speed limit. I advised him with just a fair amount of humor that he was no longer in Ohio and in Kentucky 70 means 70 not 78MPH, and if he had any questions about the Uniform Citation he should feel free to ask a Highway Patrolman in Ohio as it was obvious me to me that he just KNEW us kentucky boys did not know much about the law. Being a good example makes a guy feel very warm all over.
  20. I have been an officer for 21+ years and I have been verbally berated, shot the bird and have been shown disrespect in far more ways than I can list here, but the biggest is people telling one side of the story which is what I have been reading on here. Never once have I arrested anyone for that sole reason. Rarely have I arrrested period in those situations. None of the officers talked about can defend themselves here:madman:.....but I will give you a chance. If I get attitude, I give attitude. Speeding is stupid, period. If the speed limit is 65 go 65!! Basicly what is boils down to is you are gambling and get mad when you lose(getting pulled over) I have been called "sir" with the tone that would have been more fitting for "SOB", so just because you SAY you were polite does not mean you were polite. Stupid is as stupid does......and after working for many years (or even a double shift protecting citizens) you get kind of tired of stupid and dealing with it. I also get sick and tired of hearing one side of the story, which is basicly what is happening for the better part of this thread. In 21+ years I have never taken anything that did not belong to me, I never knowingly voilated a person civil rights, although I have spent some time and money in federal court due to frivilous law suits(not just mine of other officers), but I have spent alot of time in doctors officers and in ERs due to injuries and I have had my share of time off due to injuries. I don't expect or want anything special becuase of all that, that stuff comes with the job and I knew when I swore an oath to defend the constitution of the Commonwealth. What I DEMAND is respect. You give it, you get it. So that being said, anyone want to come down and spend some time riding along with me, send me a PM and I will haul you around and up and down some hollars and let you get a taste of what you are spewing!!
  21. Dunbar has facilities but not support. There is someting wrong with the school when you are on your third coach in three years. Coach Bob Lawson is a excellant coach but needed more support than it looked like he was getting would be my guess.
  22. Somerset has some athletes (see football) so I would think it would be a matter of getting kids out to play.
  23. Interesting turn of events down there, you go 18-10 and get a pink slip??? Don't see a in house canidate down there, but would not be surprised if they didn't have a canidate in mind. This late you better have somebody ready to step in quick.
  24. Bell has become the "Gold Standard" for many teams in eastern KY. With coaching change they could even be stronger. Bell will be talanted and a fresh face behind the head coaches desk may give them an infusion of the extra fire they will need to get past Louisville Central. The Bobcats are a class program and I look forward to playing them (win, lose or draw) for many years to come. (and it did not even take a re-alignment to make it happen this year or in years past)
  25. Not a thing really, I was just curious. If you know where a guy played or what coach he played for you get some insight into his offensive and defensive schemes. From previous posts I would guess he is a Wing-T guy, but I was curious about defense. Anybody know who his staff is going to consist of?
