Paul Dunbar is looking for a new coach AGAIN

Featured Replies

Late Thursday night, Fox 56 in Lexington reported that Coach Lawson resigned - has anyone heard anything?

Dunbar has facilities but not support. There is someting wrong with the school when you are on your third coach in three years. Coach Bob Lawson is a excellant coach but needed more support than it looked like he was getting would be my guess.

In the last few years Dunbar has a new principal and is getting a new superintendent for the county which sounds like there is some change there, but not exactly. One of the main problems is a board member I believe by the name of Melissa Bacon. She has been one of the main reasons coaches are fired/resign left and right over there. If people see this, I hope the next time she comes up for re-election in Fayette County people will think twice on her. Dunbar's coaching situation is a problem from the very top and she is one of the main reasons why.

100% accurate statement

What exactly has she done to cause such trouble for coaches?

What exactly has she done to cause such trouble for coaches?

Some of the parents have used her to complain to about coaches and she then puts pressure on the superintendent to give the administration at Dunbar some action because of what she was told or thinks she knows. She acts more like an administrator than a board member. Parents who complain about the coaches at Dunbar know they can go to her and she will force the superintendent to put pressure on the school to make a change.

She has always been around Dunbar, I'm not 100% sure of this statement but I think she is a parent or was a parent of a student at Dunbar either now or not very long ago. Some of the parents at Dunbar know her well. I know for a fact she has been at Dunbar football games many of times in the near past if not recently. Its the reason you have all of these coaching problems at Dunbar but when you look at the other four public schools in the city they don't have this problem. She is not as involved with the other four schools as she is at Dunbar.

Interesting take Golfer. In all fairness a breakdown of the recent coaches and why they "left" would make this thread a lot more interesting. I believe at least in once case the football coach gave some cause for his release.
