Unless Harlan beats Bell County Whitley will be the number 2 seed and the district runner-up

Bell sets a high standard for football teams across Eastern Kentucky. Congrats to Bell High on a good win, with the JV playing well too it looks like the future is bright for the Bobcats.

Holy Cow!!!! I thought Whitley was the better team, but I thought that Perry would be tough to beat at home with Amis. Any Stats on Amis? Looks like Black has the Colonels loading up for the playoffs.

Win more games first, but to that they will have to improve on the offense, defensively they were a solid team last year. They have a big hill to climb inside their own district, but they do look lilke they are making progress.

The Bobcats win this one, Watts is good no doubt but Bell has a whole team of kids who live, breath and eat football. Bell will pretty much do offensively what they always do, which is run the ball and run it well. Bell Co. 47 McCreary Co 13

This district used to be considered "weak" I think now it is very strong and very evenly matched, I think it is possible that this district could sweep the other district regardless of who plays who.

I heard that they should have played their game on the middle school field but did not want to becuase it was senior night. Although the field was in bad condition it did not appear to hamper the Whitley offense which is ground it out straight ahead football. Whitley appears to be in the Hallowen spirit as they are a real Jeckel and Hyde team.

I would not disagree with that statement but my point was probably closer to this, if you are seen as a finesse team, and you play with a team that is considered to be physical, and if you match them, you have beaten them at their own game, not nessisarily yours.

Most fans think about Lynn Camp and they think physical football, I mean they call them selves the "Hitmen" Williamsburg is thought of a more of a finesse team, with the "Air Jacket" thing going on. Looks like Williamsburg beat Lynn Camp at their own game. Williamsburg won the game becuase they were more physical and more varied in their offense, while Lynn Camp had no passing game what so ever. That let Williamsburg really concentrate on stopping the run, which they did for the most part. Congrats Jackets!

No team Jason Chapel has ever coached has been physical, so I totally disagree that it will be a physical game, actually I think it is the best game for some of those kids to come back on, certainly better than your Cats, who are physical.

Williamsburg and Corbin are both out but will be playing this Friday Night.

I said it before and I will say it again, I think that Williamsburg is the District Favorite, and they will outscore Campbellsville in this game. Yes Williamsburg has had problems with teams that run the ball but I think as the injured player return to the field Williamsburg will get better, even if they are not "contributing" immediately. Just the fact that they are returning will help the Jackets, if the guys can give 8-10 plays a game just to start then you are getting depth which has been a problem for the Jackets. I think this will be a fairly high scoring game..... 42-34 Jackets Win!!!!

Whitley is out of school for the rest of the week, is there any sickness on the team? and will the game even be played?

Offensively Harlan had four 4th down attempts stopped, two of which were less than two yards. Missed tackles is part of the game, that is a coachable problem but still part of the game and it would appear that Harlan does not tackle very well. Whitley has a big problem on special teams, no PAT kicker, and can't run it in. That was the only area where I thought Harlan was close.

I can see how you could make an arguement for that but I think that Williamsburg's ablility to score makes them more the favorite. If they continue to get kids back they will continue to get better. The difference is that they do play at Campbellsville, but to be honest I like Herron in the big game much better than Chapell. I think that LC could give Williamsburg fits rushing the ball, but Williamsburg has more speed and could give LC fits on the outside with the pass, I just don't know if they can contain them, as Hazard really has been the only team to do that. Had Williamsburg not had the injuries that they have had, I think their record would be better and then I think more people would see them as the favorite, but they have to get some of those kids back and it looks like they are going to.

That was a trap game for Williamsburg and they got by it, congrats on a good win for them. I think they are still the favorite in the district.

One thing is for sure, Tom Larkey is a great coach and will have this team playing well and they will be a factor in the district race, maybe not a one seed but they will have a say in who is, they have some solid players.

I thought that Whitley showed more intensity on Friday night than I had seen from them in the three previous games I had seen. That was key. Even with the turnovers early in the game Whitley just did not lose the fire for the game. Whitley was way more physical than Harlan. Harlan kept trying to clog things up inside and Whitley used their speed on the cornors, although they did run well between the tackles at times and when they got into open field, Harlan had no answer.

The difference between the two teams in this game (whitley last week and this week was the defense) Whitley held Harlan to less than 200 yards total offense. Whitley's offense was back to the solid ground game that they had last year. Whitley's offensive and defensive lines just absolutely controlled the game from start to finish. The held Harlan on four fourth down conversions which was key and allowed the backs to run for over 300 yards on the ground. The district race is going to interesting. Letcher over Perry, North over Clay and Whitley over Harlan, this race won't be settled till late.

Looking at Whitley's scores for the past couple of games there is no reason to think that they are going to win much less compete, but people still pick them; what is that all about? Well the answer seems to be the coach, Jim Black. From accounts he is a winner and will turn this team around. After watching them play three games, there is no doubt he is a good coach, but his team does not have the fire that last years team had. It boils down to turnovers and defense which have been the problems the last two games. No team can go as bad as Whitley has shown the last two weeks after going 12-2 last year. Whitley showed for 3 quarter they could play with the big boys when they played Lex Cath, then dismantled an outmanned Lynn Camp team, then they come empty against a good Bell team. The questoin is which team shows up Friday night? If it is the team that played at Lex Cath and they play four quarters I pick Whitley County. If it is the team that got shut down by Bell then it is no brainer, I pick Bell. It appears Whitley is going the wrong direction...... Belfry by a Solid 10 points.
