From what I've seen, coaches associations usually do a terrible job in every sport of picking all-area, all-region, all-stars, or any other awards. Too much much bias against schools that are deep on talent and win a lot, don't see enough of the players, in it to nominate their own team, etc.

I'll stick with Ryle to win it all. The only team you mentioned that maybe has a shot is Henry Clay. Depends on how the final brackets line-up. With none of the "Big 4" there, more teams with a chance to get to the final 8.

Don't know. My guess is it's about depth. Every team has 2 or 3 really good players. Ryle and ND probably have more than that.

If you changed the title to "AAU/Select/Club/Travel" you could include softball, soccer and volleyball too.

Yes, volleyball does need more attention, so it's up to you to tell us who will defeat Ryle in this tourney. Ryle won this tourney easy last year against the same teams in it again this year. I don't see any participating teams listed that will make me eat anything. Ryle is a very good team that happens to be stuck in the same region as an all-world team. Ryle would win the Region anywhere else.

Don't sound so surprised. In any sport, high level players like to have other high level players as teammates when playing in High School. You're only as good as the players around you. Add in that NDA's education can't be beat and it's why they are at the top in NKY in almost every girls' sport historically, soccer included.

Assuming all players are there and healthy, Ryle wins this easy. Maybe someone gives them a match along the way since it's early, but I doubt it.

I re-posted what someone else wrote. Plus I live in KY. I'm not trying to cover Texas HS Football while living in Massachusetts. The same author wrote pre-season Top 10's for a number of different states.

Madison Central I don't see how you can rank teams across classes. I don't see how Trinity is #3. I don't see how Cov Cath is in the Top 10

Who's saying the rules don't apply? Who's disrespecting you? The KHSAA? Boone Co? CCH? A. Floyd? $$ and a Sam's Club membership can get you many things at reasonable prices.

Don't forget OJ Mayo - commuted from West Virginia to start Varsity in 7th grade for Rose Hill. I'm surprised more Ohio players don't hit up CCH, NDA, NCC, Highlands, and other school close to the border.

??? Is that a local CCH rule? Pretty sure you can live in Ohio, Tennessee, West Virginia, or anywhere else and enroll in a KY school and play sports for that school, assuming you meet all other requirements.

The E is the entry level license. Easy for almost anyone to get. Doesn't mean he won't be a great coach.

Like I said, Objective Observation Even if you go back to the last CCH win in 2006 the numbers remain ugly for CCH... CCH is 2-11 last 13 games vs HHS. HHS avg margin of victory in last 13 games (including the 2 they lost) - 19.9 I know rivalries are about more than the on-field game - the tradition, the fans, the families, the deep community roots, etc. - but the on-field game itself has become completely lopsided. I don't see how that's debatable.

True rivalries aren't this lopsided. 0-7 since 2010. Average margin of victory for HHS 19 points - almost 3 TD's. This isn't a rivalry by anyone's objective observation.

BL-4-13 Students in grades 7 and 8 may not participate in any activity designated by either team as “varsity (first team)” in football or soccer. These 7th and 8th grade students may not wear the game uniform (in whole or part), or be involved in pre-game activities or any other contest related activity prior to, during or after a varsity scrimmage or contest in the sports of football or soccer. These 7th and 8th grade students may not participate (practice, scrimmage or play) on non-varsity (freshman, junior varsity, etc.) level teams in football or soccer if any member of the team they are representing or the team they are competing against is enrolled in any grade above grade ten (10). It is the obligation of the school desiring to allow the seventh or eighth grade student to participate with the non-varsity team to ensure compliance with this provision. Students below grade seven (7) may not participate (practice, scrimmage or play) on any high school level team (freshman, JV, varsity) in football or soccer.

Interesting topic, although I'm reminded of Tony Mandrich who benched 225lbs 39 times at his NFL combine and was an absolutely terrible football player with no footwork and no technique. Being the strongest doesn't make you the best football player - or even a good one.
