Follow the $$$ people. The KHSAA will hold the event wherever they can make the most $$$, or said another way, wherever it will cost them the least amount of $$$ to stage the event.

Yes, assuming he could make a team at SHDHS and that SHDHS was willing to take the inherent risk that any 8th grader is free to leave. And if it was basketball or baseball he could start Varsity and still switch. I think you see 8th graders playing Varsity more in girls sports than boys. Softball would be at the top of the list.

Yes, but not exactly the same as CVH at CCH because of different Varsity rules.

Not so fast . . . the rule is: A student below grade nine (9) may not participate on the varsity team in contests in the sports of football or soccer, and a student enrolled below grade seven (7) may not participate on the varsity level in wrestling. SO.. in any sport but soccer and football, an 8th grader can start Varsity and play every game (or JV or Frosh) in 8th grade at school "A", then enroll in school "B" and start Varsity as a Freshmen and play every game (or JV or Frosh) without penalty. Why? 1.) Because the student was never enrolled at school "B" in 8th grade 2.) Any playing time on any level before 9th grade does not count towards your 4 years of eligibility. In soccer and football, an 8th grader would be limited to JV and Frosh only, but could still freely choose a different school for 9th grade and immediately start on Varsity.

Ryle and Simon Kenton both have 200 more. That's 50 a grade. I would say that's a lot more. Seems like that should be enough.

So, in summary - Highlands dominates in NKY regardless of class, BW used to dominate, but only in their class and maybe some others but not all, #2 in NKY regardless of class changes every year, CCH is a good but not great program that may or may not be getting too much love given their recent mediocre past seasons, and SK needs to beat Trinity to get some street cred.

HB - you first used the word "dominating". Give us your definition of that. Apparently it's not going 12-1 and beating the 2A and 4A champs along the way.

Who should I be comparing them too?? They are a 6A school. They are 2-0 against NCC the last 2 years, years that NCC went 1-1 in the 2A championship game. They beat Collins last year, who then went on to win the 4A championship. Sorry, they are not just dominating a bad class.

Same 5 schools vs each other past 5 seasons... SK 13-7 Ryle 12-8 Camp Co 11-7* Dixie 7-11* Boone Co 5-15 Camp Co and Dixie didn't play each other in '09 and '10. Ryle is 6-4 vs SK last 10 seasons.

Winning % the last 5 seasons: SK .698 Ryle .533 Camp Co .482 Dixie Heights .431 Boone Co .298 Compared to their peers (massive public schools with tons of resources) they are dominating, they are a perennial powerhouse. ((Sound of alarms going off))...Quick! someone post the Highlands winning % .... in 3.. 2.. 1

SK went 12-1. That's not dominating? Replace "SK" with "Dixie Heights" Replace "Dominating" with ".500" and then replace "SK" with "Ryle"

Wasn't last year supposed to be SK's year to win it's 1st ever Region? They had a great season, had a quality team, and had both Districts and Regions on home court. It was all set up - maybe a little too perfect?

Conner and Cooper have about the same # of girls as NDA, but Camp Co, Simon Kenton, Boone Co, Dixie Heights and Ryle all have way more girls than NDA. Why can't they field teams?

I agree, there's a lot of reasons Camp Co is on the rise - including avg male enrollment increasing every year since 2009 (while Brossart's avg for boys has declined every year since 2009 - but this is likely true for other Private schools too) I guess my point on St. Joe's is if you can't get families from your own feeder schools, likely the easiest and lowest hanging fruit, to go there - how will you increase school attendance let alone attempt a football program restart? I don't think the south end of CC can support both a growing Camp Co football program, plus Brossart which is back to Square 1.

I think there's less talent every year. The past 2 years of success at Camp Co is coming at the expense of Brossart. More kids choosing Camp Co coming out of Brossart feeder schools due to $$$. And if $$$ isn't an issue, there's NCC and Highlands taking their cut off the top - If you're a good player, you gonna go to a struggling start-up or an established program? Did you ask the Bishop what school students from St. Joe's CS are supposed to be feeding into? Brossart will have to lock that school down to have any future success.

Has NDA been mentioned? Aren't they the defending State Champs?
