Club / High school 2014

Featured Replies

Any key players, boys side or girls that have decided to play summer club ball instead of high school ball this year? This is becoming a trend in other areas, but not so much in NKY from what I have seen.

I don't know of any club in the Cincinnati/NKY area that offers anything to "replace" high school ball (yet). KHA has some age group Super Y teams for the summer but I believe that season is over.

Yes, KHA did a SuperY program, the U16 season ended 2 weeks ago and the U12 and U14 season concluded this past weekend and their training wraps up on 7/31.

Do you have any info on what OE offers?

Looks to be a new program. The info is on the OE website.

If you are talking about the BCC, I do not not believe this is something that would replace high school ball. League play is not slated to begin until late Fall, this is pretty much in line with all other leagues that start up when the high school season ends... I see it as just another option for the Nov-May season.

I see a couple NKY kids on that High School Roster.

this should probably get moved to the new AAU/select/club/travel sports section that the guru has graciously opened for all club sports

Perhaps, but the original question was about local high school athletes and the responses have all been about local high school athletes. I think the thread is well placed. Does anyone know if the NKY players on the OE high school roster are playing for their respective NKY high school teams as well as for OE, this season?

I remember hearing about a girl from Cincinnati who committed to UNC that didn't play for her high school team - just her club team.

I think this will be more of a trend over the next several years for high level D1 girls. My daughter is a freshman and she has had 2 high level D1 college coaches tell her not to bother with high school. They both reasoned that it wasn't worth risking an injury playing high school soccer.

I assume they mean don't play "additional" soccer because that could lead to injury. Or are they saying there's a greater chance of getting injured in high school vs club?
