Owensboro Catholic's rising junior Drew Hartz accepted an invite according to his twitter feed.

Can't knock the kid for the class or competition they play against, but Drew Hartz for Owensboro Catholic is one to watch. The upcoming junior is 6'3 and stepped in as a soph last year to throw 26 TDs. His brother lit up 2A back in 2013 and Drew is a taller more athletic version.

Morris inherits a very good 2A team, strong upcoming senior and sophomore class with a star in the making QB as a junior. Last season's 8th grade class had success as well. The players like Morris and so far he has said all the right things.

Good trivia question, has any team beat another 5 times in one season? I agree, this should be an epic battle as both teams know each other all too well. If boyle and shelton are hot, it could be the end of the Aces season.

Apollo is playing at a high level and surprisingly dominated Meade. It appears their weakness is they have no bench scoring. I see a Catholic v. Apollo regional final, but OC is capable of laying an egg on offense and losing before that... we'll see.

Should be a great regional tournament, but it will be one and done at State against 9th region. The Sportscenter will be fun this week and weekend.

9th district 3rd region, both games will be very tough, OHS v. Apollo and Daviess v. Ocath. All four are senior laden teams and have beat each other up all season.

OCath will need to replace their linebackers and a couple of DBs, but the rest of the returning positions are solid. The strong senior class will have some talented sophs and juniors stepping up to fill in. Offense should keep rolling with wr Nick Mills, rb Vonn Williams, and rising junior QB Drew Hartz. The question marks are on defense, which will be led by Noah Todd. Tough first half of the schedule with DC, Evansville Memorial, and OHS.

9th district is as tight as its been in a while. Apollo may finally be coming together at the right time. Seeding is still up in the air...

Counting tonight, Ocath and Apollo play 3 times before district and I expect all three to be battles. At this point I would rank them at the top of the third region.

The 9th district will be as competitive as its been in a while and will produce the 3rd region champion. No clear cut favorite but Ocath and Apollo return upper classmen teams.

DC athletes looked really good in 7v7, but I give the edge to the Aces in this one based on the continuity of their system. OCath defense looked very good in scrimmage with Barren County.

Take it from personal experience, stay away from Murray...

Ifs and buts, OC simply had too many injuries and starters out, especially skill players. Mayfield was a solid team with tough running back, but at full strength OC goes toe to toe last night. Congrats on the win, but mayfield is definitely beatable.

Good call Rosco, I think whoever wins the turnover battle will win this game. Mayfield "should" win, but I like OC's chances if they can keep it close.

OCath wins city county championship when no one expected it. On to district...

Inexperience at key positions could cost them a couple of games but the district should not pose much of a problem. Defense should be solid but offense may sputter until the soph qb hits his stride. 7-3 record at worst...

Where are the good camps this summer where d2, d3, and naia coaches will be? I'd like to get the most bang for the buck..

I'll say that OCath has the toughest road to get to state - Murray (nemesis last 4 years) - at Mayfield - Desales/CAL .

I'll go the blasphemous route like Brown did and call OCath over Mayfield. I just hope the officiating crew is from nowhere near Mayfield or Graves county...
