  1. Scott returns opening kickoff for a touchdown. Scott 7-0.
  2. I believe you expected a running clock. That didn’t happen. South Oldham was just as physical but didn’t have the speed to stay with WC. Congrats to Woodford on a good win.
  3. WC speed the difference. Too fast for the Dragons.
  4. Size doesn’t equal physicality. It’s the size of the fight in the dog not the size of the dog in the fight. Haven’t seen the Dragons back down. Don’t know much about WC but they probably don’t back down much either. Expecting a very good game Friday night!
  5. Dragons keep the ball rolling heading into the meat of their district schedule.
  6. Good win for the Dragons as they continue their dominance over North.
  7. Dragons defense continues their strong performance! That will be the difference.
  8. South Oldham has the next two games against North Oldham and Oldham County. They should win those although anything can happen in rivalry games. Then district competition starts with three games versus Anderson County, Woodford County, and Scott County. Those three games will tell me just how good the Dragons really are.
  9. If all three are D1 type talents then they should be #1. A D1 QB throwing to even two Div 1–AA type receivers would be incredible for any program. Even if they are sophomores and juniors.
  10. South fumbled the kickoff return. Anderson 37-7.
  11. Now 22-7. Anderson just has more size and speed.
  12. Now 14-7. South opened a few good holes.
  13. Anderson 14-0 end of the first. Two drives—two TD’s. South had about a 50 yd drive but got stopped at the 25 on downs. Anderson is pass happy and good at it.
  14. Anderson 14-0 end of the first. Two drives—two TD’s. South had about a 50 yd drive but got stopped at the 25 on downs. Anderson is pass happy and good at it.
  15. South Oldham vs Anderson (Oh). First game in the post Jamie Reed era! South has looked better than most thought they would in their two scrimmages. Looking forward to some high school football!!
  16. I was at the scrimmage. FD has many more players than SO. FD is clearly bigger, faster and more athletic. In the scripted portion of the scrimmage South’s defense did ok and held up against the run. Later on when you add in the passing game FD has too much speed. South had a few nice plays on offense but just don’t have enough size/athleticism to stay with FD. South is very young with only 8 seniors. I would be very interested to see how FD stacks up vs St X.
  17. Saw an article on June 13 that reported Hodge committed to East Carolina after a visit there. Congrats young man. That’s some good football!
  18. I seriously doubt Coach Reed is afraid of a whole lot. That’s funny! I do really look forward to see how South Oldham does with this new schedule. Should make them better for the postseason. As far as the pipeline goes there are a few good classes coming up in middle school from what I understand. I had been involved with OCYFL for years and it seems that recently several top kids went to private schools. Private school starters (lots of area schools have this situation). D1 recruits in some cases. Tough break for the Oldham schools. Still lots of talent that stays though! Coach Reed - thanks for all your hard work in taking a good program and making them better! The expectations for the Dragons are far higher now! You did a lot for the players and the school and you’ll be remembered for the great coach that you are! Enjoy the extra time with that wonderful family of yours.
  19. A parents worst nightmare. Prayers.
  20. It’s a dirty business and coaches aren’t the only ones who have the contacts/resources to get players “fake offers”. Parents and trainers are able to do this also. When a college scholarship is on the line strange things can happen and some people will do whatever it takes. And college coaches have to care about winning or their job goes away. Money at the bottom line of all of this.
  21. No doubt that if they can get someone better they will. But how many coaches complain that players aren’t staying all 4-5 years. The coaches are the ones talking about paying dues. Developing senior leadership and cohesion. Knowing the system and how things are done. (enough cliches!!) But what’s the culture within their program. Can be very different depending on the school. The rules have changed. Players no longer sit out a year after transferring. The portal makes it super easy to look at players tape if they want experience. And the player could get to practice and play right away depending on timing. Coaches could also get a guy they recruited who’s not happy sitting on the bench somewhere else. Makes it tougher on the player who has been practicing, working their way up the depth chart only to be pushed aside for a player with “experience “. If you never see the field for quality minutes you don’t have experience. That was my point about WKU QB position. There are other examples. My main point is it’s just tougher for the high school recruits these days.
  22. South Oldham named Jamie Reed head coach in 2010. He turned the program into one of the more successful programs in the state. Unfortunately for the other two schools in Oldham County the head coaching position has become a tough one to find a coach who will stay.
