South Oldham vs. Scott County Predictions/Updates

South Oldham's brief trip to the Class 5A top 10 was interrupted by a 30-14 loss to #5 Woodford County on the road last week.   The Dragons, who saw a 5-game winning streak end, will try to regroup at home against a perhaps even more talented foe as South entertains #4 ranked Scott County.  South is 1-1 in district play.

Scott County is riding a 3-game winning streak, and sits at 2-0 in a loaded district.    Head coach Jim McKee is a familiar face in Oldham County; he coached the Colonels of Oldham County in the 90s.

This will be the first matchup between these two schools this century, and both will feature powerful running games that often may look very similar on the field.   South will operate out of the flexbone, with QB Nick Hamilton, wingback/slotback Jacob Acevedo, and fullback Cole Greenwell leading an attack that averages over 250 yards per game on the ground.   

Scott County has been even more prolific on the ground, averaging over 300 yards rushing per game, with Jacob Fryman, Ellis Huguely, and Thomas Feickert all coming into the game with between 350-550 yards rushing.  

Both schools have had some success through the air, but neither is likely to spend much time on an aerial assault; South attempts less than 10 passes a game, and Scott averages just 7 pass attempts per game.

I thought South Oldham was decent when I watched them for a bit but I do expect Scott County to win big.

They did and they looked decent.

Why does everybody think Scott County is so good? They played 1 really good team and got handled. Other than that their best opponents were Collins who isn’t that great and Lincoln County who also isn’t very good this year.
