Not sure what the answer is. On one side tougher competition makes you better and to that point last years game a was much closer. On the other side, and to your point, to many big losses can be demoralizing to a young group and hurt future participation in a program. Maybe its time for a class system in girls athletics similar to what they have in football is a possible solution?......

Take nothing away from Calvary Christian these girls fought hard and never quit. In the end however, the pressure and speed of the Lady Eagles was the difference maker in this game. Meaning what? That players on a D2 team are not quality players? Or are you saying that AAU players are not quality players?

Coming off a dominant defensive performance against a young Newport team that saw the Lady Eagles hold Newport to a single digit average pts. per qtr I believe we will see more of the same vs Calvary.

Mason Co. Lost a lot to graduation and Beechwood is hitting stride. BW has 2 players (Kimi and Olivia Stokes) from the AAU D2 #1 Nationally Ranked Legends Team plus great outside shooters in Maci Stemphel and Allison Johnson. Both teams are young but the edge I think goes to Beechwood with the home court advantage and a little more experience. Beechwood by 6.

Couldn't tell you as they reset the score to 0-0 at the end of each qtr. 1st ended in a tie, second went to Carol and 3rd and 4th went to Scott.

Congratulations on a great run and Best of Luck in the future. A great Lady, you will surely be missed.

With the first scrimmage behind them the Lady Eagles identified some key areas to work on. With 3 key contributors finally joining the team following volleyball season the group looked a bit rusty in the first and second periods. However, in the third and fourth periods the girls gathered it up and were able to significantly distance themselves scoring points through transition and aggressive board work. Lots of work still to do however, they have a very solid foundation to build from. As a side note congratulations to Seniors Madison Meier and Jenna Trempe and Junior Holly Kallmeyer being named team captains. Great job ladies, let's keep it rolling.

SK/Dixie admittedly is a hard game to predict no matter how you slice it. Whether you are hoping to see an SK upset victory, or the Dixie offensive and defensive line put on a smash mouth clinic similar to the last time these 2 teams met. Whether you like county rivalries or district rivalries. Whether you like qb's that are polar opposites (run vs pass) or defenses that get after it in different way. Bottom line this game has every possible story line you could think of to make it a great game to watch.

Understanding and disappointment. When you talk recognition for top coaches everybody looks at the programs that dominate and are loaded with talent every year, and in many cases, rightfully so. But after watching the girls at Silver Grove the last couple of years compete in both volleyball and basketball with diminished numbers against overwhelming odds, I have come to admire the players and the coaches. No matter the score they always seem to keep trying and working hard. Which is an amazing feet in and of itself. Just to keep this kids positive and motivated enough to keep coming to practice and showing up at game time and giving all they have is CoY material to me. My heart goes out to the kids who will miss this season and I hope a viable solution for them is found. And to the coaches who have worked so hard in the face of adversity just to keep the program going over the past years I applaud your efforts. You would definitely have my vote for CoY.

Hey I'm OK with the Lady Eagles being the underdog again this year and carrying nobody's bullseye. But I do have to agree with them being the #2. That said take nothing away from Beechwood. They are scrappy and play with a nothing to lose attitude. They also have a couple of really good, YOUNG, hitters who could really make waves next year. I might even slide them in ahead of Cooper. Of course everything is a year away and anything can happen.

They graduate 3 Seniors. Trimpe the setter, Scheper (OH transfer from Dixie), and DS Stevers. While all the Seniors will be missed the Lady Eagles return their entire starting lineup except for Trimpe.

With the completion of volleyball season that saw the Lady Eagles win their 1st Regional title and progress in the State Tournament all the way to the Final Four, three key players return to the basketball court today. On the down side, with very little time before the first scrimmage and only 3 weeks before the 1st game they will need to shift gears and get up to speed fast. On the up side, Riding the high of their first trip to the dance and building off last seasons success look for the girls to hit the ground running looking to carry the volleyball success into the basketball season.

Update: Region 10 Champs made it to the Final Four and lost to eventual state Champions Mercy. Congrats to all the teams that made it to the "Dance" and congrats to the Mercy Jags on the win. A huge shout out to the Scott Lady Eagles who may have not have finished the season the way they would have liked never the less set a number of school records along the way: Most wins in a season 1st Regional Championship 1st State Tournament Win 1st Elite 8 Win 1st Final Four Appearance Future looks bright for the Lady Eagles as they have a lot of youth returning next year and drive to push through and complete the last 2 steps of the journey.
