Lawnboy13 Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Tonight at the NewCath Volleyball Awards Banquet, Head Coach Vicki Fleissner announced her decision to step down after 25 years (19 as an Asst. & the last 6 as Head Coach) of dedicated service to the NewCath volleyball program In a tearful address she thanked players, parents, asst. coaches, & the NewCath administration for everything they have done to make this a wonderful experience. She stated time constraints with a new job had made it difficult to continue. In her 6 years as Head Coach she has sent a few players on to the next level including, Taylor Synder (NKU), Jamie Kohls (NKU), Maggie O'Day (Haverford College), Elizabeth Gruenschlaeger (UK, track), Courtney Maier (UC-Clermont), Alyssa Maier (Mt. St. Joe), Nikki Kiernan Thomas More- hoops), & Keyiara Lankheit (NKU). As an assistant she help mold the careers Annie Gruenschlaeger (Morehead St.) and her niece, Alyx Schulte (Jacksonville State). Thank You Vicki for 25 years of dedicated service. :ylsuper:

postup14 Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Kayla Freppon also played with Gruenslaeger and Schulte under Fleissner as an asst coach. She went on to play at Xavier. She had a nice career.

TAC Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 The type of dedication that make private schools worth the money!
Dlbdonn Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 She will truly be missed as was Jenny Mertle befor her !!!
lawildcat Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Congrats to Coach Fleissner on 25 years of dedication to NCC's volleyball program! Vicki is a great person from an outstanding family and I wish her nothing but success in her future endeavors.
I4C Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Vicki is truly a class act. My daughter played for a rival school and she made a point to tell my wife and I that she was willing to do anything we needed to get our daughter to play at the next level. She's a coach that gets "It". A great coach and an even better person. Good luck Vicki with your future plans.:thumb:
Lawnboy13 Posted November 21, 2014 Author Posted November 21, 2014 She will truly be missed as was Jenny Mertle befor her !!! The only two coaches ever at NewCath. Going to be a tough act to follow.
Sandman32 Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Vicki is a wonderful coach and will be sorely missed. She is truly a class act. I recently saw her at a club tryout, where she was helping evaluate talent. At the end of the first day she came to the director and said, " I want #999's contact information." The club director complied, but before doing so asked why. Her answer, "Because I'm going to call some college coaches I know and make sure she gets on their radar." The kid in question didn't choose her club but she still made the phone calls.

FeelingGood Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Who will replace her !!? Any news on a replacement?
vblover Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I thought Alyx Schulte went there to replace eventually Vicki. However, I've heard that is no longer true. I guess it's wide open now.
FeelingGood Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Did I hear a new coach has been named? Could they have named both their new soccer coach and volleyball coach at the same time?
