There's always talk of interest. When the rubber meets the road, who actually gets a real offer? THere's a long line of kids from Hoptown who have gotten "interest" (whatever that is) who end up never stepping foot on a campus. Lot's of promotion. Very few actual results. County and UHA on the other hand have very recent history of putting multiple players in d-1 schools. Johnson, who is reportedly a terrific kid probably goes the football route in college. You could have two of the best high school qb's in the state in Christian county schools in the next 3 years right here in hoptown. Kolbe Langhi (cousin of dan langhi) and Johnson are both elite level high school qb's. Kolbe plays basketball too and will be a force down low for Christian county next year. he sat out most of last season (as a freshman) with a hip injury.

Exactly and in larger towns its very easy to just move to a new apartment to get from one district to the other... Happens ALL the time...

Sebree will be eligible. The separation from UHA was a mutual decision and UHA supported his decision to go back to CCHS...

Awful take. Guys from ky who have gone to uk have done very well. They're remembered after they leave or stop playing football. Go to uscjr and you're just "another guy".

LOL. It's not for ANYBODY who plays for Haworth. I'm not saying he should send every player to college. But literally NONE of his kids go to college. One, ONE is still enrolled ANYWHERE. Matlock comes from a great family. I met them at the regional tournament. Keep making excuses "college isn't for everybody" for Haworth. Hopefully there are a lot of folks out there like me who care about the kids more than the coaches who use them. And PS: Christian County has sent a ton of kids to d-1 schools. The one's I mentioned above. UHA has 3 or 4 guys at Kentucky Wesleyan right now playing ball off of a team that lost to Hoptown 3 times. The pattern is at hoptown and more specifically with Haworth.

My point is that Haworth and hoptown are using these kids. Not helping to prepare them for college. It's nice to win, but high school shouldn't be the pinnacle of these kid's careers. Haworth has 5 years worth of track record at hoptown. it's abysmal as far as getting kids, (as students or players) to the next level.

What a shame. Another super talented kid who plays at hoptown who can't get qualified. Stovall did some great things with his best players at County. he sent 3 to d-1 schools who all did very well from his state tournament team. he had other kids who made it to 4 year schools and succeeded after high school. Haworth has yet to send one kid to a d-1 school from his super talented squads. The one who had the grades, he convinced to not walk on at uk and be on some of the best teams in school history. I feel bad for Qualis. Great kid but was simply shuffled through at hoptown. The last 3 years Haworth has had some amazing teams. Not ONE PLAYER has gone on to a 4 year school. ALL of them have dropped out of college. ALL of them. The 3 he sent to West, freaking KY tech were all home in less than a month. They tried to say Edwards signed with murray, he never made it out of hoptown. I feel bad for the kids over there. Just being used.

Hearing Tim Haworth has applied. Likes that they've won titles recently and that he doesn't have to compete for players... Is the "biggest" dog in the region most years.

Might be able to make more trips from region 2 but winning the title is tougher. But with re-districting in Christian County and him losing so much off of this team, everybody here thinks this is the time to head on to greener pastures. Some other stuff has also riled some feathers that is best not said on here. Parents aren't happy with some "un-fulfilled" promises. His track record for getting kids to the next level is abysmal considering the talent he's had over the last 4 years. He's a heck of a coach but he definitely has his shortcomings.

Supposedly wants a Louisville job.... Bad. Would make sense. He can probably have whatever job he wants right now considering his run in region 2.

Haworth is likely gone at hoptown. Almost took the Bryan station job but came back because of loyalty to jaqualis.

Cal sure is having trouble winning some games. You should setup a meeting with him to set him straight.

Matlock has to play the big guy. He's the only serviceable big man for hoptown. Hoptown likely puts several guys on goodin. Gray and Gary and perhaps some others. The worry I would have if I was Haworth would be matlock getting in foul trouble. If he goes out the big boy for Taylor could cause some trouble. that's the x factor IMO. Matlock and his ability to deal with somebody bigger than him. WHen he's played against people bigger than him (physical) he's struggled some.

Look at their resume. They played and BEAT some very tough competition. Again, until a week ago, Hoptown had not beaten an elite team from the state of ky. Also, as I said, if hoptown plays as well as they played against Henderson they will be a tough out. Very tough out. Taylor County matches up well with Hoptown. They should be able to deal with their pressure and they have a big man to matchup with matlock. It will be a very good game. In terms of why Haworth would leave? You'd have to ask him. But it's a well known fact in coaching circles that he was VERY close to taking the Bryan Station job.

pardon... They beat every KY team they played in the King of the Bluegrass and they beat Hendo in the Showcase. Their resume is as good or better than Hoptown's. To say it's going to be a easy hoptown win is silly. Hoptown hadn't beaten a team in Taylor county's league until a week ago against Henderson.

Exactly right. Hoptown has a nice team but got a tough draw again this year. My friends in Hopkinsville are worried. A. Most think Haworth is gone after this year. He almost left for Bryan Station last year. This might be in the back of the player's minds. B. The youth on this hoptown team worries them in Rupp. C. Taylor County is a tough matchup for hoptown. Pressure probably won't give them any trouble. Especially considering the larger floor. I will say, their performance against Henderson was impressive. I drove over from Central city. If they play that well (by far hoptown's best game of the year) they have a shot to make a nice run. But you usually aren't going to play that well multiple games in a row.

Taylor County will have the best player on the floor. By Far. Taylor County beat Henderson and Doss. They WON THE FREAKING KING OF THE BLUEGRASS. 1-2 years away? Talk about Orange tinted glasses. Taylor County is probably the favorite in this game considering Hoptown's struggles in Rupp. Hoptown has multiple players who are making their first Rupp appearance. Multiple key players. Gray, Gary, and the freshmen. AJ Tyler too.

No doubt that hoptown hopes sebree and hollowell will "transfer". I think that is very unlikely. not impossible but I'd say very unlikely.

This is what usually gives Hoptown trouble. If you can break their pressure their defense struggles. This was the exception when hoptown beat Henderson. I think Taylor county wins by 6-10 but Hoptown has the athletes to make a run if they can buckle down in the half court.

Reports that 3 public schools from region 2 will boycott the all a classic next year. Anybody else hearing this? Supposedly the regions with private schools have several schools that are trying to arrange a boycott. If so, sad. Why take the kid's chances to play in a tournament away? Adults make such stupid decisions sometimes.

Considering Haworth coached the "Christian county all stars" this year I find it shocking that there was ever a discussion of them not winning the region. The seemingly "wild west" situation in Christian county with regards to "transfers" is troubling. Ledonald gray was ruled ineligible twice until he/hoptown had a lawyer threaten to sue the KHSAA. Ledonald Gray is WHY Hoptown is in the sweet 16. he was the difference against Henderson and Webster.

To be specific, the guidance counselor at hoptown told me that the interim ad went to UHA and got the papers on both signed. In fact hoptown was shocked that UHA didn't report the situation. Reason they didn't is because they didn't want to cause the kids to not be able to play, despite the situation. However they did think the khsaa would rule gray ineligible because there was no valid reason for for having the one year sit out period to be waved. Remember , you have to prove to the khsaa why you shouldn't be ineligible. Gary "moved". Gray didn't.

This is absolutely false. UHA signed papers over the first week of school. Issue is that gray has no valid argument to be eligible. Didn't move, didn't get kicked out of school etc...

Akeem isn't even enrolled yet at the school. Ironically, the UHA "exchange student" rule will keep him out. Gray has been ruled ineligible by the khsaa and Gary ruled eligible. Friend who teaches at hoptown high told me yesterday.

Hollowel from UHA holds an offer from Oklahoma State and has received interest from IU. Sebree has an offer from Samford and has already visited Tennessee.
