Ok this thread is veering off course. There was a basketball game last night that Bracken lost. They lost because of their own misques and not executing to their best potential. The refs did a decent job last night. They lest the kids play for the most part. Could they have called more fouls? Heck yes on both teams. It was a physical game, a good game. A game that Mason won with clutch free throw shooting down the stretch. Bracken had several opportunities to get a lead and add to it but didn't convert. Had a chance to tie the game at the end when most ppl (myself included) though the game was all but over 45 seconds prior. Was the T warranted? Not for me to decide or anyone else for that matter. Both sides did their fair amount of Jawing all night. It happens in big games like this. Try to get a psychological advantage. No different than a pitcher throwing inside to a batter every now and then. Or a linebacker with a little more umph behind a tackle here and there. No need to bring up kids not on the team for either team. I'm sure both sides at some point or another this season have felt those voids and delt with them. No denying it was a tough loss for the BC faithful. It sucked. I'm sure the boys are disappointed as we all are. But the fact remains that the season isn't over and we still have one guaranteed game left. Win and we will have another and so on. So with that said the focus for the team needs to be on that and not dwell on last nights shortcoming. Use it as motivation to come out next week and try and prove the naysayers wrong. As long as you leave it all on the floor they have nothing to hang their heads about. As far as all the banter about coach I just don't get it. Jason is a friend of mine and I know how much passion HS has for the game and the kids he coaches. Yeah he gets animated with the refs but tell me a coach in this region that don't. He has had success at every school he's been at. He's coaching the younger kids instilling his strategies in them at an early age. Building a program from the bottom up. He is a great coach, has two COY plaques to show it. I've been a member of BGP for 4 or 5 years now supporting my alma matter. I've come to find that there is a lot of "hate" for our little 1a school. Don't really understand why it is that way. We are a proud bunch over here maybe a little overbearing at times, but at the end of the day we all have our favorite team. What is it about Bracken Co that ppl loathe so much? Hell there are some alumni that are quick to bash. Yeah we go into every game thinking we can win. So what? That's is the attitude your suppose to have if you wanna be successful right? Yeah excuses can be made by anyone on any team when you lose. give me a thread on here where the losing side didn't make one. From the refs to coaching strategy to this one was sick or that one just got back from football. We all do it. It just gets magnified when a BC poster does it. No excuses from me. We had ample opportunity to win at several different points in the game. Just didn't capitalize and seize control of the game. Like I said earlier take it and use it for motivation for next week. Sorry for the rant

My Polar Bears beat themselves tonight. Give credit to Mason the my played a good game. Way too many missed shots at point blank range. Had several offensive rebound where the putbacks didn't fall. Free throw shooting was atrocious overall. Don't have the numbers in front of me but I would say around 30% from the field and 60% from the line. The three ball kept it close in the first half shooting 5-9. But maybe made 1or 2 in the second half. Crawford got his but the support cast wasn't there tonight. Foul trouble plagued Jones and Engnes in the second half. Refs let them play for the most part in the first half. If I remember correctly Bracken had 8 team fouls to Mason 3 in the first 16 min butbin the second half both teams were in the DB. Bracken showed me a lot of fight in the closing minutes albeit in a losing effort. Could have packed it in down 10 but fought all the way back with a chance to tie it but it wasn't meant to be. I'm still proud of my team and look forward to watching them next week in the region. Yeah it's a hard pill to swallow and it's disappointing but that's sports. Win some and lose some. Just have to refocus now on next week. The road will be tougher now but not impossible. If memory serves a district runner up was the 10ths representative in last years state tournament. Just have to set goals and work your butts off to obtain them. As long as you leave it all out there on the floor (like tonight) whatever happens happens. At least you can't say that you didn't give it your best shot. Congrats to Mason Co on another district Title and best of luck to my neighbors to the east next week.

I'm gonna be honest with ya. If BC comes out like they did in the first half against St Pat it may not be pretty for my Polar Bears. If they come out like they did in the second half against St Pat them they should win by 10-12 points. I'm sure coach will have the boys focused on the prize and my beloved Polar Bears cut down the nets Thursday night for the first time since 1999. Bracken 74 Mason 65

Great job Black Devils. Patrick and his team have really worked their tails off this season and it's paying off at the right time. I have a renewed intro in the outcome of this district championship game. I know where I'll be Friday night. I'll be pulling for RCHS to win their first district title since 1988 if memory serves me. Was a tale of two halves. St. Pat had a good game plan and executed it in the first half. Got them a 29-27 lead at halftime. The second half primarily the 3rd qtr was a different story. Bracken came out and forced the tempo and ratcheted down on defense created turnovers and out scored St. Pat 24-9 in the third qtr. Brady "double double" Jones kept Bracken in it in the first half and was the main cog in the second half. Glad to get outta there with the win and can focus on Mason Co Thursday night.

In th 38th district 4 win Harrison Co upset district favorite Pendleton Co last night in Cynthiana. Don't think many saw that coming

Agreed. But it is definitely something that should be addressed on the ride home. If nothing else but a small life lesson. Win with dignity and lose with dignity. I must be coming down with he flu as we seem to be agreeing on a lot tonight :thumb: :lol2:

While I didn't think HC was gonna win, the thought was in the back of my mind. Great win for HC and tough loss for PC

I think this will be a great first round game. Bourbon has played spoiler in this district before most recently 2015. Whom ever wins this game does it by single digits. I'm going with the underdog Bourbon Co. 66-60

The dumb draw almost went the way seeding the district would have went this season while all the teams didn't play each other this season Mason did beat Bracken earlier this season which would make them the 1. Bracken the 2. Augusta would have been the 3 and St Pat would have been the 4. So you probably won't hear much complaining on how the draw came out this season. It's only when it's obviously wrong when the 1&2 play in the first round that you will hear about it.
