Coach Ray will guide his Lady Bears to a BIG win. I would not be surprised at all to see Coach Ray give the Lady Royals all they want in the district finals if both teams are lucky enough to advance. What a huge upset that would be!

Lady Bears will win this soundly but the Lady Royals will win the district championship without breaking much of a sweat.

You are on the right track I think. I don't think they were ever expected to beat Mason County and win district. But I don't think they did as well as they had hoped this year.

That's a true statement as well, but I think this group won the ORVC as 8th graders when Bailey was a freshman. Can anyone confirm this?

First senior class in the last 2-3 to not have Bailey Cummins. Also, third coach in 3 years.- First of which obviously not to have her.

This seasons team is essentially the same team playing against the same players of the other teams, that played Mason Co last season within 3 points in the district tourney, minus the the 2 previously mentioned factors.

It was mentioned in another thread that this team might be better than last seasons. Make no mistake, they miss every point that Bailey put on the scoreboard, but what they miss even more, is the floor general she was. She saw/sees(as proven at the college level this season)the floor extremely well, 84 ft, in both directions. I would say a comparison of turnovers from last seasons team to this one would confirm that. While she is the most prolific scorer the Lady Bears have ever seen, it's her leadership they miss.

 

Back to your question, I guess to those who thought they could replace her as a floor general, then perhaps there were high expectations. Those who knew they couldn't, knew this season would be a challenge.

As far as the ORVC, yes and no.

Yes, most of these seniors plus some who no longer are a part of that group. But no, because this group has players who were not part of that team.

Could be the fact that they have 3 coaches in 3 years. Plus they have 3 girls that don't play with them anymore. One at Augusta two that quit.
