Bracken County/Saint Patrick Predictions 2/21/17 (39th District Tournament)

Featured Replies

First senior class in the last 2-3 to not have Bailey Cummins. Also, third coach in 3 years.- First of which obviously not to have her.

This seasons team is essentially the same team playing against the same players of the other teams, that played Mason Co last season within 3 points in the district tourney, minus the the 2 previously mentioned factors.

It was mentioned in another thread that this team might be better than last seasons. Make no mistake, they miss every point that Bailey put on the scoreboard, but what they miss even more, is the floor general she was. She saw/sees(as proven at the college level this season)the floor extremely well, 84 ft, in both directions. I would say a comparison of turnovers from last seasons team to this one would confirm that. While she is the most prolific scorer the Lady Bears have ever seen, it's her leadership they miss.

Back to your question, I guess to those who thought they could replace her as a floor general, then perhaps there were high expectations. Those who knew they couldn't, knew this season would be a challenge.

A lot of good points Opie. Thanks for the post.

You're also right that a lot of people with blind loyalty, rose colored glasses, or an untrained eye didn't think about Bailey's ability to be a general on the floor. That's as important as the points probably.

I think as an observer on the outside, I thought Ruf would take over and could be molded into a general.

I thought before the season started that BC would at least be competitive with Mason County and may sneak up on them in district tournament as they improved throughout the year with the talent and experience they had coming back. I'm just hoping I don't walk into The Fieldhouse Thursday night and the score isn't 44-9(2nd quarter) like it was last time these two played there
