  1. I can understand why they're doing it. To me the Church's defiant stance against instituions and movements because of the round-about way it might support abortion disturbs me. In high school I was told not to donate to the Susan G Komen Foundation and not eat at Dairy Queen or buy Nike shoes.
  2. I first saw this when a Northern Kentucky Catholic high school encouraged donations to the Pope John Paul II Medical Research Institute instead of the ALS Association when doing the now popular ice bucket challenge. Me, personally, I think it is embarrassing for the Catholic Church and one of the many reasons why people like me choose to be no longer associated with it. Cincinnati Archdiocese freezes Catholic school donations to ice bucket challenge charity - The Washington Post
  3. Aldean was the cover. The original is better.
  4. Under Pressure - My Chemical Romance and The Used or David Bowie and Queen? Oh and Old Crow Medicine Show destroys Darius Rucker in the battle of "Wagon Wheel."
  5. "Suspicious Minds" - Waylon or Elvis? "Always on My Mind" - Elvis or Willie?
  6. Apologize - Luke Bryan Someone Like You - David Nail Dirt Road Anthem - Brantley Gilbert and Colt Ford
  7. "The Naked Man" - How I Met Your Mother - if you don't know, I'm not telling "Five O'Clock Charlie" - MASH - the classic episode about the inept bomber "Hash" - Barney Miller - everyone except Barney eats pot brownies "Fish Story" - WKRP - lots of storylines, but my favorite part is Johnny and Venus taking the sobriety test
  8. We have nearly 30 high schools in 3 counties playing boys basketball. That means you are going to have a lot of teams where the opposing players and coachs know each other really well as well as the fan bases. Games that historically have a chance at selling out because of local rivalry and interest - NewCath - Highlands, NewCath - CovCath, CovCath - Highlands (very intense football rivalry), Brossart - NewCath, Brossart - Highlands, Brossart - Campbell Co., Bellevue - Dayton (more so in football), Newport - NewCath (rarely but there's been years, and there is a trophy for the football game), CovCath - Holmes, Holy Cross - CovCath, Holy Cross - Holmes, and to some extent all the Boone County schools though I would know less in-depth information about rivalries than what I know about Kenton and Campbell. I would cover my feelings about the schools in Boone County by saying that the 34th district is always a fun one to watch because it is unpredictable and has had a lot of great games, characters on the sidelines, and talent on the court. But the intensity of the rivalry between those schools can't match some of the ones in the smaller communities in the other counties, especially the rivalries in and around Newport and Covington.
  9. Well the big storylines this year are going to be the return of Mike Listerman (former CovCath coach) to the sideline, this time for CovCath's district rival Holmes (also it will be fun to watch him coach against his son at Highlands and former longtime 9th region coach Ron Dawn at NCC), the continued rise of PG James Bolden at Holmes, the reigning state champ CovCath Colonels run at a repeat, and if anyone can break the blockade at the top between CovCath, Holmes, and NewCath.
  10. Okay, here's one I need a ruling on from those of you familiar with the Kellogg Ave exit on 275 going into Ohio: my uncle tells me it is okay, during Riverbend traffic, to take that center second lane all the way in and get off the exit still in that lane even though it's a one lane exit. It involves going through a white solid line but it goes straght into its own lane. It never disrupts anything but I feel dirty doing it.
  11. I'm also not a fan of the person on 471 who is headed to 75/71 south via Ohio and decides that it's ok to go 80 in the slow lane because it is the one they have to be in. I would imagine you feel my pain on that one as well Lawnboy?
  12. American Kids - Kenny Chesney Momma and daddy put their roots right here 'Cause this is where the car broke down
  13. My freshmen year of college my two most played songs on iTunes were "No Air" by Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown and "Year 3000" by the Jonas Brothers.
  14. UK - Gruenschlager - NCC Harvard - Hempel - Ryle
