I'm curious outside of the three top teams in the 9th if their are any other teams that could challenge them for the 9th Region title. My top three are Holmes, HC and Highlands to this point. My top two sleeper teams would be Ryle and Dixie. IMO.... Ryle seems to be playing better and has enough talent that could take down one of the top three I mentioned above on any given night. Dixie can always be dangerous with Tibbs lurking in the middle and if their guard play can come along may be a dangerous team to play as well. They have an X factor in the middle if the perimeter players can take care of it on the offensive end.

OK that's just silly. I looked at each teams schedules and noticed at this point only one common opponent in Ryle. Scott lost to them by 30ish and SK beat them by 30ish so that really blows that theory out of the water. I agree that I think SK would have additional losses but I'm not sure as many. But as the score above and the head to head result shows you the true nature of girls basketball. I am by no means saying this is the case but I also happened to notice this was SK's 3rd game in 4 nights. hmmmmm. Also, your last comment regarding the player is I agree with you 100%. And if they are better off, then they should be questioning their coach. From what I know Scott's current coach was the coach when the player played at Scott so if the team is better without her then the coach is the only one to blame. Not the kid. At the end of the day, all teams have high's and lows. Time will tell if SK just simply was gassed or if they are the real deal. I think the same is said for Scott from that I was told a whole lot of emotion was poured out including the drenching of the coaches (not sure you should do that on hard wood floor or for a regular season game but.... it's all about having fun). Good coaches challenge their teams this time of year because in the end the whole purpose is to make your teams better by challenging them to run as deep as possible in the post season.

I don't know. I've seen both play and to take steal from coach cal " I'll take athleticism over experience every time". Holmes is playing on another level. Just my observations not ripping highlands at all

legit question? What team had highlands played that is close to being as deep and athletic as Holmes ?

I think my point was responding to your comment that they have not beat any top 20 teams. The answer is no, but neither have teams ranked 15 - 20 and they all have multiple losses. While some of these loses were against quality teams, They are losses. It's really hard to rank teams and even if I have seen them all I'm not sure I could even come close to ranking them correctly. However, I have seen Sacred Heart, Holmes, Highlands, Holy Cross, East Carter, Ashland and Etown. Among those teams you have your obvious top class of the state. As I said earlier then I think their is a somewhat distant 2nd tier of 4 or 5 teams maybe a few more. But after that it opens up a little bit. I'm a basketball fan not an SK fan but I was impressed with them. I'm not sure what their expectation were or are but I don't think that is relevant as to where they are ranked. And no, just because you are undefeated doesn't mean you should be ranked ahead of a team that has a few losses. Etown is clearly the best team in state at this point. Who do you drop from polls? The team with the weakest schedule and the most losses.

I just looked at their schedule and they also play Highland right before HC. I saw SK play a few weeks ago and they are a very solid team. Very good defensive team and very composed on the offensive end. They attack pressure and have 2 interior post players that are very good. I watched Holmes several times and they are not only going to pressure you all over the court, but they have a few shooters and rebound pretty well. Very very good team HC really shocked me in the fact that pressure bothers them. When they play a team like Holmes the HC guards better come ready or Holmes can win big. If its a slow down type of game then I can see it being a good game. Holmes just has too many athletes and HC guards struggled with pressure the game I watched. I haven't seen Highland. I hear good things and no they are well coached. One thing is for sure; I've seen 3 of the 4 teams mentioned above and I would def. put SK in the mix with Holmes and HC. In fact, may be a little better given their defense. But any of the teams can win on a given night. I'm assuming Highlands is right their as well.

Interesting fact is that most of the teams have played each other and a lot have only beaten the lower half of the top 20 teams. I certainly think an undefeated team with a solid schedule belongs in top 20. Ranked #18 SOS in one pole I have seen. The good news is this is Kentucky High School Basketball. They all have a shot at the title and all of the lip service in the world doesn't mean anything. I think E-town is the obvious favorite with 4 or 5 second tier teams. Then the field is fairly open after that. As far as this pole. If you look subjectively you can easily see all sorts of holes.

After getting to finally watch several of the top teams I would have Holmes and holy cross 1a and 1b. The difference between the two will be if holy cross can the preasure. Right now I'm not so sure they can Sk solid 3 Highlands 4 Then 2 or 3 teams fill in next 3 spots I think these three teams can be interchangeable Boone. Ncc. Or Ryle

With that thought process we should get rid of all state and national rankings. I doubt the voters have seen everyone they rank.

I've been told trinity has played one of the toughest schedules and haven't allowed a goal in last 9 games. Must have something that resembles a defense.

Heck Just like this site. Most often it's a parent or aau coach trying to self promote their interest on this site. I've learned to take talk on here about certain players with a grain of salt. I often watch expecting to see a star only to leave somewhat disappointed in most instances. I strongly agree with your comment that playing time is earned. That holds true with great coaches and programs but I often see so many get caught up in the hype when the stats and play don't prove out. One aau coach on here commented about a certain player being a great distributor and smart player but a defensive liability (paraphrasing on my part). Calls them a great player. I will discount that coaches opinions from now on. The last I checked if you can't play defense then your not great. What about the other intangibles? Do you have the quickness and ability to creat your own shot Etc.... You get the point.

I think you are correct academically. But should a 13 yr old be exposed to a 17 yr olds ( probably age appropriate ) conversations? Kids have plenty of time to grow up. Why fast track it an expose them to inappropriate age level conversations. kids should be playing sports for what it teaches them. What should be the most important thing in consideration is helping them grow into solid productive adults. I think to many adults (meaning parents)preasure kids moving up so the adult can feel better about themselves and lose site of the bigger prize.

Ok... not trying to make this sound bad but how do we lose our top player yet we are better? This is not meant to be anything other than to open dialogue. I have my opinion but would like to hear yours.

I'm not sure that will be a fair assessment. I hear you but you have to also realize the scheduling is much much tougher this year than the previous years. A lot more larger and traditional better teams on their schedule than in the prior years. I think Scott may struggle some this year but I think they would have even if she stayed on board.

I couldn't tell from my angle and this picture really validates how hard it would be to tell from the stands. I thought the keeper was reaching out but due to my eyes and age I couldn't say anything definitive. I think the photo goes a long way in validating the refs and I thought they did a good job of calling the game. No one is perfect and certainly some calls are missed but I think they did well overall. The keeper played excellent and did a tremendous job and battled the entire game. The EXCELLENT pictures back this up. Great game to watch by both teams.

I'm not sure about any of that. I do know there are several girls that should get a long look at helping the team and several that are in position to help the team and should get a longer look.

If that is in fact going on at sk (or any school) it's a shame. How do you justify to the kids that work hard for something? If your not ready to make the tough decisions then you probably aren't ready to coach. I do admire those that give their time but they should attempt to do the right thing

I'm hearing a lot of concern from sk girls soccer team and just curious what is going on. I'm well aware of disgruntled parents so i am curious if their is an unbiased opinion out their. Apparently a lot of young talent not being used while varsity is under achieving. Coach afraid to shake things up. Guess i don't blame him though just see highlands thread.
