Are Soccer Lines Needed On Turf Fields?
How is this a thread? Yes they need separate lines. They are different sports with completely different markings. The concept of this thread is painfully ignorant.

Beechwood men's varsity schedule
"Don't worry ... this isn't ever going to happen because we do not have the facilities or resources to do it" Last edited by quickslick; Today at 12:50 PM. Doesn't the implication behind this statement say all that needs to be said? Why would any other sport need to "worry" if a new sport was forming. Why should they care or be involved at all, it is none of their business to fight their own school from having more opportunities for their students. Or am I taking this out of context?

Beechwood men's varsity schedule
Question: When would soccer use the field? Answer: Every home game. Those days football practice has to end a little early just like every other school, or you move practice somewhere else. Band does the same. Question: Would any boys have played football without soccer? Answer: yes, most schools get kickers and punters from a pool of soccer players or students with soccer experience. Some just straight up play both. The football team being concerned for losing players doesn't really hold to the smell test when the students who like soccer more don't get to play anything. It's a very personal issue for many people that had kids denied the right to play soccer because of the very football centric atmosphere at Beechwood. Beechwood is a fantastic school for both athletics and academics I can very much understand why parents would be upset that their children would not be able to participate in both.

Beechwood men's varsity schedule
I am astounded and overjoyed that beechwood was finally able to break through an age old wall and get not only a girls but a boys program. I have to wonder how hard the school and paricular another fall sports administration is trying to end this. I guess the real question will be if the new turf field will have more than one set of sports markings.

Cumulative Yellow Cards
Some games require one form of control others require another, as do players. Hell some refs get more leeway from players and coaches for unknown factors as well. I'm not disagreeing that we won't always have consistency but let's face it, soccer behavior has not gotten better in the past 5 years, they have to try something. Unless we can make refereeing something where they have an overwhelming number of volunteers then we are stuck with what we have.

Bowling Green 6 Scott 4
Are we still talking about the cooper v Scott game and the red card? Are you guys serious?
-
Bowling Green 6 Scott 4
That puts him in a pretty big club this year then. Obviously this is tongue and cheek but really? The red called a ridiculous amount of fouls and gave an equally ridiculous amount of cards not because he was a poor official but because he had to and even then it didn't stop the players at all. The fact that you can't see that is disturbing. You aw grasping at straws and need to re evaluate this. The game was a poor show of sportsmanship from both teams and the KHSAA would be well within their rights I think to discipline both schools severely.

Bowling Green 6 Scott 4
It was an embarrassing atmosphere

Scott 1 South Oldham 0
They just have been quieter near you because I could hear them on the live stream!
-
Scott vs South Oldham on KHSAA TV
Worked for me. Scott wins 1 to 0 btw. They have got to keep their mouths shut though. So much whining. Both teams but seriously.

Scott 3 Trinity 2
To each his own. If you are comparing how the World Cup is called to how the MLS or EPL are called you will see the differences. I'm sorry my friend but soccer refereeing is not an off the shelf product.

Scott 3 Trinity 2
Professional matches have as many as 6 officials on any game. Problem with bringing that to youth games is the cost and number of bodies. We can barely field 3 refs half of the time and the schools don't want to pay any more than they have to. No way soccer gets more unless a lot more people become refs and soccer starts making schools a lot mor money. How about $12 dollars for post season next year. Lol

Scott 3 Trinity 2
I really should let this mangles horse die but they did have 4 officials on the post season. Soccer is by nature the most inconsistent sport because often the game is adjusted to skill level and atmosphere. For instance, in England if there isn't a minimum of two teeth missing it's not a foul and there better be an ambulance for a card. By contrast I think they use a strong gust of wind as the gauge for what is a foul on some Hispanic countries. Get over it people. Soccer isn't meant to be cookie cutter like so many American wish it was.

Ticket Price Rant
That seem like a fairly reasonable justification for the price. Some of these teams go a long way to get where they play. Refs as well. I can't really think of anywhere else the KHSAA gets revenue off the top of my head.

West Jessamine 1 Campbell County 0
Any official? How do you think that would go over if an official cancelled a semi state game over a muddy field? I'm sure you'd be pleased but somehow I doubt the KHSAA would agree.

Montgomery County 1 Bishop Brossart 0
Soccer is much longer and continuous than both those sports. Fouls get clumsier, players get more frustrated, injuries more prone to happen. I don't see that as the solution. Eventually you just need to put the game out of its misery.

He can't be doing that poorly. I know I have seen him at the state tournament on multiple occasions. Could just be he doesn't mesh with nky people. Like English refs doing Hispanic games in the World Cup. I appreciate your candor OTB. While being in the best position is always preferred. Admitting you aren't and being honest is second best in my opinion.

Indeed we do OTB

Yes, but it wasn't play by play. Lol

Did you mean to quote me or groin pull?
-
Covington Catholic 1 Newport Central Catholic 0
Well since groinpull declared it was handling it must be true. Call the presses, discussion closed.

Didn't you just make a comment on another thread that said you never question a ref in the right position? How about one that admits he wasn't and wasn't willing to make a game changing call because of it?

It works a little different in kicks after the game. I agree it seems strange but this is my guess. Because the keeper was not on the line to start the kick properly the result is irrelevant and it must be retaken. Slightly different than a violation during a kick that is taking place.
