  1. This one will not be close. Rose may make a few plays against the Collins secondary but they will not stop Collins. 42-14 Collins, Collins is just a different level than the other four teams in the district.
  2. The Bears have been up and down, Collins was just too much for them. After their opening win versus Bardstown they lost back to back games versus BC and BE. Then came back and probably played their best two games versus Henry County and Woodford County, thought they really out played Henry but gave up two special teams touchdowns that doomed them. Collins was just the far superior team on Friday, Spencer really struggled to move the ball. I expect they will bounce back and play well on Friday, I think the district is pretty balanced outside of Collins. Look forward to an exciting game.
  3. Special teams doomed the Bears, blocked FG returned for a TD and Kickoff return for a TD. Bears go for 2 and the win in OT but pass failed.
  4. Sounds like we could have a disgruntled parent here. In coaching there are always games that you should have won that you didn't and there are games you shouldn't have won and you did. The bottom line is this program is trending in the right direction. Will they win the district and make it to the region? I have no idea but the program from the elementary through the high school is taking shape and we will soon see the fruits of all the hard work. Changing a culture is not easy!
  5. Very sad situation, this is a prime example of what terrible leadership can do to a district. It starts at the top, the entire district is a toxic environment that has infiltrated every aspect of the district. Nothing will change until they remove the superintendent and I think the board has finally seen the light.
  6. The number of players that they have returning. They played a lot of juniors last year. Offensively there main hit will be losing most of their receivers but they have the QB, RB and most of offensive line back. Defensively I think they return a large number of starters. Shelby has to replace some key pieces most notably an experience QB, which is imperative running the triple. They will improve as the season goes along so long as they stay healthy. As for Spencer they lose Leff on offense and Brown on defense so I am sure they will improve as the season goes on as well. Franklin has a new coach they returns several pieces and I also believe as the season goes on they will show improvement. North will be in the second year with coach Gamsky and i hear he has added some new assistants to his staff. They should move forward the second year under their new coach. Should be interesting when district play rolls around.
  7. Collins is definitely the team to beat in the district. You could probably go with Franklin, Shelby or Spencer at the 2 spot, North Oldham will be much improved from last year. Just as every year it is a tough district and there will be some tough weeks for these teams.
  8. It is actually district 4, aren't Spencer and North Oldham in this district as well?
  9. Should be a good match because he is now working for a district that has serious issues. Don't know him but if he goes longer than one year I will be shocked.
  10. Just for conversation sake how many years was Wallace at Warren East and what was his record? I know this is another conversation probably but take what Chuck Smith has done at rural county schools ACS, Campbellsville and Boyle, versus what a Beatty has done at Trinity. Totally different make up of players, just something to chew on. Don't think you would ever see a Bob Beatty take a job at Campbellsville HS. This isn't meant as a knock on anyone just how to analyze the term "Best Coach"?
  11. Gregory - Graves County Peach - Anderson County Larkey - PCC
  12. Taking a job and not knowing what players are coming back or who your principal will be is tough. Best of luck to him.
  13. The district is in shambles, finally it appears that the community is figuring out how bad the leadership has been. I feel there may be a change coming at the top of this district. A much needed change!
  14. I think it is his if he wants it, however I think he ends up elsewhere in the 5th.
  15. That really doesn't matter, I don't think people understand how athletics roll in Nelson County. Whoever the administrator is doesn't matter because there will be no support for the coaches. That is just the climate in the district.
  16. It will not be the former assistant.
  17. I think it is about the overall program and how everything ties in together. It is about what your kids believe in and when they buy in to the process you can have success. I am not one to sit here and say one offense is better than the other. I think a coach has to have a plan in all three phases of the game and the players have to buy in. if all your eggs are thrown at the offense with little paid to defense and special teams you are going to struggle. Some schools have the ability to have multiple athletes on their roster at any given time this allows them to utilize the spread and incorporate all of those athletes. On the other hand at other schools they may only have 2-4 athletes and they have to utilize them in a multitude of ways. The bottom line it is about building a program, establishing an identity and kids buying in to the process. When that happens success will follow. One last thought just because a team is a running team doesn't mean they are not an exciting offense. When big plays are made in the running game the fans get just as excited as they do when a long pass is completed. The bottom line is there are many ways to skin a cat and the bottom line is that fans want to support winners.
  18. So are you saying if they run the spread and throw it around 40 times a game and go 2-8 all will be good?
  19. Final from Gulf Shores.
  20. Interesting match up in Gulf Shores today at 2pm Central time. McCracken versus Spencer County. I think Spencer is a contender in the 8th region. They both played highly ranked Fairhope, AL this week with Mcracken winning 4-3 in 8 and Spencer losing 2-0. This is a huge opportunity for the Bears to see where they stand.
  21. If he/she was approached by this administration it would be a first. Just not how they do business.
  22. Asked to apply by whom? The administration? By parents?
  23. Let me clarify Burns is not, will not leave Spencer. He has built the program from the top down. All the way back to the 2/3 graders they are being groomed for the high school program. He has coaches in place at all levels that are focusing on player development. This program is just scratching the surface!
  24. Bethlehem has lost twice at home if I am looking at their schedule correctly. Bardstown by 2 and SC by 11. I am a big Braden fan he can coach!
