  1. Congrats to Campell. Nice win over an undefeated team.
  2. not to get too much in the middle of this one so in the name of compromise I'll make two comments: 1) Stalling...patient...same result with different words if you're holding the ball out top to bring the defense 2) Saw the video..shot..no doubt..one hand or two does not matter.
  3. Wow! Sounds like a barn burner 33rd district game. Any details?
  4. So after the big game Ryle is at 2 and 2 with three of the 4 games against top 20 in the state teams. Two losses of combined 7 points to two top 10 in the state teams. But tis indeed a 500 record. Pay no attention to the ladies in orange and black behind the curtain. These are not the droids you're looking for. (march to March)
  5. Good early season match up between two contenders. Defense on both sides was key. Holmes full court pressure as advertised. Ryle handled well at times but as previously stated, the Bulldogs pressure will sneak up on you and 3 or 4 bad possession's in a row are turning points. On the flip side, Holmes struggled to score inside against the Lady Raiders. Pivotal moments in this game were very end of 2nd and end of 3rd. Ryle had the 8 point lead but Homes used their press to force 3 quick turnovers for 6 points cutting it to two at half. Both teams battled and struggled in 3rd to score but two key 3's by Holmes give them a 6 point lead which became a game changer. Holmes was able to pull the ball out and hold it at that point and pull the Raiders out to defend. Ryle PG fouled out in the 4th which hurt the Raiders as they went to the all guard set to attempt some pressure. Homes defended the 3 particularly well in closing minutes which left some driving opportunities that Raiders were not able to capitalize on. Congrats to Lady Bulldogs on the win. Perhaps we can see a rematch of this game down the road.
  6. Glad circumstances didn't cancel this game. So come on out to the field house for two quality teams and some great 9th region girls basketball. Go Raiders!
  7. Ok..I'll bite. What happened that resulted in a T and what was the impact?
  8. Sounds like another great game. Congrats to NCC on a nice win and to Dixie for making them earn it!
  9. Way to go lady Tigers on a nice win! Like to hear more on this one
  10. Sounds like another barn burner in NKY..congrats to Dayton on the win and Ludlow for bringing it!
  11. I'm a supporter of the Ryle program and of course rooting for a W but won't blindly be a "my team will beat yours" poster. I listed Holmes as preseason #1 for a reason. Here's my take...run and gun game..big advantage Holmes. Half court sets..big advantage Ryle. Tempo and turnovers will be key.
  12. Congrats to Lady Tigers on nice win. Saw them over the summer and was impressed with their scrappy play and bAll movement.
  13. Congrats to Mason on a quality win. They are a well coached, balanced and talented team. As a Ryle fan, love to see the grit these Lady Raiders are showing. Coming from 10 down to a 4 point lead and chance to win the game against a top 10 team is a good gauge. They have things to work on. Sumoroyals most telling stat is obviously 32 turnovers for Ryle. Credit Mason D for a lot but certainly not all. Ryle will learn from those hopefully and tweak for the future.
  14. Congrats to HHS on the win and to Scott for making it tough on them. Scott has some potential to make some noise in their region. I won't get fooled about an HHS loss and close game. Not having experienced senior point on floor matters.
  15. Congrats to SK on the win and NDA for a solid outing. When I see the blow out scores from across the state, I think the close scores in many NKY games make a statement about the level of talent in the area.
  16. This was a great game for the first week of the season. Both teams fought hard for all four quarters. Every possession was a battle. Allie Neace is simply incredible and hit some HUGE shots for SK with defenders in her face. SK will be formidable and tough match for anyone. Ryle shooting overall was not where it could have been during stretches of the game but Jones had a big night. This was more about every Lady Raider on the floor giving their all. Mistakes where made and the lead changed hands multiple times. In the end, Lady Raiders continued to battle and Ryles bigs were huge on the glass in the final close out. Eight Raiders went in the scoring books for this one and Lang and Jones hit clutch free throws down the stretch. Two solid teams...only one could win. Good luck to SK the rest of the way. As for Ryle..this is a team. A strong team. Now on to the next game of very tough December schedule.
  17. Ryle played very well. Through scrimmages and this first game the new look Raiders have jumped out to 15 to 20 point leads early with great defense, controlling the boards and combination of solid outside shooting, post scoring, and slashing to the basket. Fun to watch! Scott will be fine...very scrappy team. Stapleton hit some big shots and Scott cut the lead to within 11 in the 3rd quarter. I believe Ryle had 12 or 13 play in this game...as solid a starting 5 as you'll find in the area and great play from the bench. It's early but nice first win for Raiders.
  18. Ryle will open the season this week with what looks like the toughest schedule in Northern Kentucky (6 of first 7 games vs teams in NKY top 12 poll and the other against 10th region powerhouse Mason). Raiders scrimmaged yesterday against scrappy St Henry team, winning both varsity games. Maddie Scherr looking very good as starting point joining 4 top returning scorers from last year...seniors Schwartz, Lang, Jones and Jump. Solid senior experience and very good young talent will make this a very deep team. FM NKY Tribune: RYLE Katie Madden-Haitz, the new head coach of the Raiders, knows what it takes to build a successful program. She was an assistant coach on three Boone County regional championship teams. Her first team at Ryle has seven seniors on the roster, including the top four scorers on last year’s 33rd District championship team — Mallory Schwartz (11.2), Carly Lange (10.8), Madison Jones (8.6) and Aimee Jump (7.0). “Having seven seniors provides our team with leadership and knowledge of the game,” Haitz said. “We should be able to create a lot of havoc for our opponent’s defense due to our ability to have scoring threats in both the post and perimeter.” The new coach put together a challenging schedule for the Raiders. They will play 11 teams that won district titles last season and six of them went on to claim regional championships
  19. Curious..last I heard two HHS seniors nursing injuries..were they able to play?
  20. Agree...Brossart strengths seem to be at post. Also feel compelled to say it's great for any of us to root for our teams and bring positive attention to girls basketball in general....BUT..would hope as adults none of us imply that throwing an elbow in anger is positive ...Roller Derby has enforcers
  21. A great big thank you to mcpapa for starting the conversation on each and every girls High School team across the entire Bluegrass. This is a tremendous amount of work just to stay on top of getting the post out there, making sure every team is included, and getting it in before the first tip. Really nice work and much appreciated!! Let the season begin!!!!!
