  1. Tough subject as there are several teams in the 9th with great balance. With that said, I think anyone's list should include the returning point guard from the defending state champs as Deja Mecclendon can be a difference maker. Most of the names listed already are those recognized at tournament time last year as you would expect. So in addition, I'd add following: Kylie Orr, Newport 36th District All Tourney Team Brooke Davis, Dixie, 34th District Tourney MVP Aimee Jump, Ryle, 33 District Tourney MVP Carly Lange, Ryle, 33 District All Tourney Team Taylor Gambrel, 33 District All Tourney Team
  2. Agree with the above. Holy Cross will be very competitive but lost too much to graduation to be the team to beat. Holmes did loose couple to graduation but brings back the bulk of their impressive team and has to be considered team to beat in the 9th. Highlands and Ryle will both have talented and experienced senior leadership. That's your pre season top 3.
  3. The Ryle position is still open. At least in terms of no announcements or press releases.
  4. Hope there are several announcements within next two weeks. Hate to see these teams come out of dead period with no coach.
  5. Ryle, Dixie , Scott , Simon Kenton, Conner, several Cinci schools. Afraid I do not have sched ..seems games start 5:30 ish..I believe tonight is last night.
  6. Couple of quick points from a fan of the program perspective. 1) Coach Stowers is outstanding and any program would be in good hands with him as head coach 2) Don't really think majority Ryle fans/players/parents have issue with coach that runs team without parental influence ..3) While we see the point that a "Stowers" type may not be available...it's very possible there are very good candidates interested and itching for this opportunity...
  7. More on this later I'm sure...but let's not loose sight of this simple fact. Ryle was already going to be in the conversation when looking at top teams in the 9th next year..top 5..top 3..in the conversation. THIS is big news. Who steps into this position and how quickly will have an impact on the 9th. The timing is unfortunate as it puts the student athletes at a disadvantage when it comes to June "School Ball" activities. The talent to compete sits in union waiting...
  8. Congrats to the ladies, coaches, fans of HC! Once again, way to represent the 9th!
  9. WAY TO GO LADY INDIANS! The entire 9th region behind you..way to represent!!!
  10. Any one know if 9th region games will be broadcast on net?
  11. Final from 33rd District Championship game last night in Union. From WCPO Sports: Ryle takes down Boone in District 33 final Raiders get plenty of Jump in title win 4:17 AM, Feb 27, 2015 By Terry Boehmker UNION, Ky. – After losing their last four regular season games, Ryle girls’ basketball players held a group therapy session to get back on track for the district playoffs. “We all came together and talked about it and were like, ‘We’re not that team that’s been losing games anymore,’” said junior forward Aimee Jump. “We’re a different team that’s bringing new energy. We knew that’s what we needed to come out and play our game again and have fun with it.” Ryle defeated Boone County, 58-44, in the 33rd District championship game on Thursday at Cooper High School and the Raiders hope that positive energy carries over to next week’s 9th Region Tournament. A draw to determine pairings for the regional tournament will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at Holmes High School. The four first-round games will be played at 6:30 and 8 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday at the Bank of Kentucky Center in Highland Heights. Ryle will likely have the biggest starting lineup among the eight teams in the regional bracket, and the Raiders used their height advantage to win the district title game. They blocked 11 shots and forced Boone County to rely on perimeter shooting. The Rebels did make seven 3-point shots during the game, but they ended up shooting a dismal 23 percent (15 of 63) from the field overall compared to Ryle’s 44 percent (22 of 50). “Looking back at all our losses it’s easy to see we either didn’t play with enough energy or we weren’t using our height advantage,” Jump said. “We know in the future we need to use that all the time. We’ve finally got that mindset where we have these 6-foot-w and 6-foot-1 girls and we need to use them.” Jump, who is listed as 6-foot-2 on the Ryle roster, had 14 points, had eight rebounds and three blocks in the district final and was named most valuable player on the all-tournament team. Her 6-foot-1 teammate, Carly Lange, finished with 17 points and two blocks. In the first half, those two players scored a combined total of 17 points that was one shy of Boone County’s team total. Ryle opened the game with an 11-0 run. Boone County did not get a field goal during the first seven minutes and trailed 16-5 at the end of the first quarter. The margin increased to 18, 36-18 by halftime. “It was important to establish ourselves early and make our presence known on the floor,” said Ryle coach Karra Jackson. “You’re always hoping that you can get off to a good and that the kids are hitting shots because that’s where your confident is built.” Boone County rallied late in the third quarter when guards Macey Ford and Maddy McGarr each hit a 3-point shots to cut Ryle’s lead to 32-44. But the Raiders went on a 10-5 early in the fourth quarter to put the game away. “We got off to a bad start and when we finally starting making a comeback late in the game our shots stopped falling,” said Boone County senior Alexis Switzer. “This is a hard place to shoot. The rims are real stiff and our shots weren’t falling and we just couldn’t get into a groove.” The Rebels also had a bad night at the free throw line, making just 7 of 23. The Raiders converted 12 of 17 foul shots, with Lange hitting 9 of 10 attempts. Boone County’s leading scorers were reserve players Kylie Anderson with 12 points and Jaelyn Bonner with 11. “This was a good win for us to get. We worked for this all year long,” Jackson said. “If we use our height and use our quickness coming of bench I think we can make a run for it (in the regional) next week.” RYLE 16-20-8-14–58 BOONE 5-13-14-12–44 RYLE (14-11): Jones 3 0 7, Schwartz 3 2 9, McGregor 1 1 3, Lange 4 9 17, Carothers 1 0 2, Jump 7 0 14, Scherr 3 0 6. Heritage – Isabelle Worley.
  12. Thanks for doing this! It should indeed be a good one as traditional rivals meet again.
  13. Ryles middle schoolers definitely contributed in the Holmes game including good minutes from Lauren Schwartz as well. While I understand your going small comment (meaning smaller when using 3 guards), I would say that might be misleading to those that don't know the program since there were two 6 Ft plus players on the floor together at all times. Leading scorers were 6'2 Jump with 15, 6'1 Lange with 11, followed by middle schooler Scherr with 9 and 5'10 guard Schwartz with 7. Probably not what most would think of as small. Hopefully Ryle can take advantage of it's strengths and surprise some people in the post season.
  14. MODERATOR: Please change title of thread to Conner instead of Cooper...Whoops...was typing too fast ..while the game was at Cooper..it was Conner Ryle defeated.
  15. FM WCPO Sports: COOPER (8-17): Anderson 3 1 7, Held 4 6 14, Smith 0 1 1, Nicolas 1 0 2, Mitchell 2 0 4, Bleska 1 1 3. Totals 11 9 31. BOONE COUNTY (17-12): Ford 2 2 8, McGarr 3 1 8, Foster 3 3 10, Switzer 2 4 8, Moore 2 2 6, Anderson 1 1 3. Totals 13 13 43. 3-pointers: BC—Ford 2, McGarr, Foster.
  16. Final from Union Last night. FM WCPO SPORTS: RYLE 49, CONNER 27 – The Raiders blew the game open in the third quarter, when junior forward Carly Lange scored six of her game-high 13 points. Lange also grabbed 10 rebounds. Ryle junior forward Aimee Jump recorded a double-double despite scoring just seven points. She grabbed 15 rebounds and blocked 11 shots. Junior guard Madison Jones chipped in 10 points, five assists and three steals for the Raiders, who will face Boone County in the championship game at 7 p.m. on Thursday. 17. I'll go with Lady Camels...they are playing very good ball as a team..they can make a legitimate run at Regional Champs imo.
  18. Ryle at Notre Dame rescheduled from We'd.. Tipping off 730
