  1. Yes. This should be a great district game as Conner is hungry for a win and lady raiders coming off a loss to Boone and also hungry for a W. Ryle also has Cooper tomorrow so it's chance to either muddy waters or take clear top spot in the district.
  2. Tough loss for Lady Raiders but hats off to Boone. Switzer and knots had great games. Ryle was within 2 late in the 3rd but Boone pushed to 5 point lead in the 4th and hit their free throws the rest of the way. Likely to see these teams face off in districts with one going to regionals and one ending their season. 33rd District Tourney will be held at Ryle this year.
  3. Agee on top 5 and that any of them could make a tourney run. What makes it interesting is that any of the 6 through 10 teams could upset the apple cart in a tourney game
  4. Sounds like another good 33rd district game. Congrats to Cooper.
  5. They are not automatic cancellations in Boone when school is out. Frankly it would be easier to understand if that were the case. When school is canceled, someone makes a decision around mid day regarding evening activities. It would be interesting to understand the criteria used for such a decision. We are all interested in safety but cancellation of tonight's Bone County activities seems a bit ridiculous. The student athletes work very hard to represent their schools. and I'm sure want to compete. It would not be acceptable to simply skip those games because someone made a bad decision to cancel them in the first place.
  6. Any team with great shooters has a shot in any game. Beechwood has a couple that can flat out shoot
  7. Tough afternoon for lady raiders. Pretty much agree with RCs take on the game. Raiders defense was solid in the first half but missed to many shots. Credit to highlands girls for coming out of the locker room fired up and erasing 10 point lead in short order. Agree on needing a Schwartz in floor more but believe the strategy was protect the starters with foul problems and have them there for strong finish.. Didn't work to well. Ryle went to the 3 ball to quick instead of pushing the ball inside or driving to the hoop.. Worst half for the Raiders this year. Credit to Bluebirds for knocking down the free throws , I believe Coffee was perfect from the line. Nice win for highlands.
  8. Ryle has wins Over Boone and Cooper with Conner coming up Wednesday. With each district team playing each other twice this year, anything could happen. Don't think there will be any easy first round games in the 33 rd this year. The two teams that make it to regionals will have earned it.
  9. Final from union. Raiders now 8 and 5 with 3 consecutive wins.
  10. Ryle has 5 SRs, 2 JRs, and 8 SOPHs on varsity. Also some talented Frosh getting JV and some varsity time. Great deal of talent but little varsity experience. The 4 Soph starters have played AAU together for several years along with several other Ryle players. This will help shorten their learning curve with a new offense and could make them an underrated team that could be dangerous sooner than most think.
  11. Yes meant GRC; my mistake. Brossart vs GRC would be great game.
  12. Boone at Ryle rescheduled for next Monday the 13th. Should be a great district game!
  13. RYLE PG Senvisk- Senior G Jones- Soph F Schwartz- Soph F Lang- Soph F Jump- Soph
  14. This was a very competitive game neck and neck through the first half with Beechwood gaining 5 point lead by halftime on very good outside shooting. RHS was able to gain the lead by the 4th with Beechwood backing away from press as they looked a bit tired and ryle was able to score in transition. Game was still I'm question late in the 4th but ryle was able to pull away with solid defense leading to points in transition and hitting some free throws. Beechwood definitely well coached with young talent; I see both if these teams continuing to get better.
  15. It's coach Kara Jackson.. Yes she was at Station but most recently Oak Ridge in TN
  16. SK speed and outside shooting was key for them along with Sr experience. Ryle actually came back 3 times during this game from being down double digits. RHS was within 5 with less than a minute and it became a free throw contest at that point. Credit goes to SK for hitting nearly all of their FTs down the stretch. No doubt SK is well coached and a very solid team. For the inexperienced raiders, two games have demonstrated they don't give up, they can compete and good things are happening. It will be an interesting winter.
  17. I can see both points of view on that though I agree GC had the edge in the "4 quarter varsity scrimmage". Both teams are going to be competitive ... Good news is we get to start this for real this week...it's gong to be interesting to see what the first few weeks bring!
  18. Not too familiar with Male but believe #41 (post) was one of the Green sisters? Looked as if they were trying to run the offense through her in half court..assuming this was their fist scrimage as well..they didn't get as many half court looks at first due to Ryles press and good interior D with Ryles inside height..the 2nd half was better for them. Is the other Green sister guard? If so, they did have good shooter on the wing and you could see good potential for inside out.
  19. Had a chance to see Ryle in scrimmage against Louisville Male Friday night..Defense was pretty impressive for first time on the floor against competition with new coach. Agree with Budman on younger players making an impact..Ryle sarted Sr Senvisky and 4 sophmores..Schwartz, Lange, Jump and Jones. Storer was able to play and contributed good minutes along with several others. Looks like they still have a lot of work to do on half court offense but looked very strong in D and points off of turnovers. Should be in interesting year as they learn new coaches style but they may surprise some people.
  20. Agree that process is a bit slow. If interviews are ongoing, hopefully they can use dead period to finish interviews and have someone in place for summer open gyms.
