It is actually the Kentucky Gators 14u team, they just played a grade up and won the 15u division.

The 16u roster will include numerous kids on the 14u Derby State Thoroughbreds last season Kel Stotts - Russell County Dylan James - Sheldon Clark Bryson Asher - North Laurel All three of those are going to play up on the 16u team this season. Peyton Broughton - North Laurel will be on either the 16u or 17u, have been rumors of both for him. The 16u team will also have Damon Tobler from Perry County Central who like Stotts, Asher, James and Broughton is a freshman as well. They are not having a 15u team so all these kids will play up on the 16u team.

I dont know what you mean, in 2000 Mercer County lost to Scott County in state by around 45-50 points they were like 15-17 , 15-18. Mercer County was a school and Harrodsburg was a school at that time. In the new Mercer that came about in 2006/2007 no they haven't been to the state and have no banners but somewhere there is a banner that says Mercer County 2000 regional champoions then there are other banners somewhere that say 1996 and 1960 regional champions Harrodsburg. They were two separate places at the time so I dont know why you would count them together. When Britt takes them to state in the touirnament program it will say previous appearances , 2000 nothing more nothing less. When other schools go to state they dont honor all the old appearances by the smaller schools that consolidated.

It was Cundiff not Cutcliffe at Mercer, but yes Boyle came to Mercer and beat them on a Saturday afternoon make up game. Steve Adams is a great coach and doing well at a tradional football school. Brian Britt in my opinion is a great coach as well. Mercer County has been to the state tournament one time and that time was with the worst record in state tournament history if I am not mistaken. I feel confident in saying that Britt will take the Titans to Rupp Arena for the second time and it will be soon. Britt gets his players to play extremely hard and has the numbers back up in the program.

I have neither heard of either kid, maybe they are division 1 or maybe they aren't division 1 I will refrain from comment because I honestly dont know haven't seen them. However, why is everyone "d-1" now or he will play D-1. Over the last 10 months on twitter, boards, etc people have become ridiculous. If you read twitter you would think that each class in Kentucky has 20-30 division 1 basketball players, that isnt the case. Everyone is d-1. Just cause a college mails you a division 1 letter or calls your coach doesn't mean your d-1. College coaches call in on a kid to check him out, will evaluate over time, but one phone call doesn't mean d-1. When a college offers , then they are recruiting you, whenthe college calls about you, they are evaluating you, HUGE difference. At times it is almost embarrassing the unrealistic knowledge that some have. I know one in state college staff extremely well and one member is a very good friend talk daily, outside of a basketball relationship, personal. I know every kid they offer, who after, etc and we will laugh at some of these interviews the student-athletes do or that some writer or coach will put on the internet about a school is recruiting me, was at all my games this summer, etc. and the kids won't get a sniff. Elite camps invite a whole lot of kids, when they are really evaluating about 4-6 kids they actually have on campus, the rest are there for the run. It is great to have goals and good that everyone wants to play division 1 but the reality is there is only about 1500 division 1 basketball scholarships given out every year across the country, in the past 6-10 come from Kentucky kids, a special class is 12-15 and that is a class that is once in five or ten year class. It isn't all of the sudden going to change overnight and 40-50 kentucky kids get scholarships to division 1. Look at Kentucky population as a state, it is equivalent to some metro areas, Baltimore - D.C ., Philly etc. 5-15 kids a year is what those areas put out every year so Kentucky is holding their own with rest of nation based on population, actually probably more than holding their own. I hope 40-50 can get division 1 scholarships, but at a point and time you have to be realistic. There aren't enough people that are just point blank honest with parents and players. My opinion, the 2014 class is a good deep class, will have 12-15 division 1 players in it maybe a couple more, a rare and special class with depth. 2015 and 2016 neither class will have over 10 division 1 signees. My opinion might be wrong but that is just my opinoin. The two mentioned here, Taylor and Conway, I don't know them they might be division 1. This isn't nothing on them, this is in general. Some kids that come to my mind over the last few years off the top of my head that never received a division 1 scholarship offer out of high school are Mason County kids. Trevor Setty, Russ Middleton and Jordan Gilbert. Everyone of those kids could play, two of three could have probably got a division 1 offer but if they played now, they would be hyped so high in reality they didn't any d-1 offers. Setty blossomed late in college and is now playing professionally over seas, just goes to show you how hard it actually is and d-1 isn't always the best place. I am sure Setty doesn't regret going to Pikeville and playing in front of 6-8 more times the fans he would have played in front of if going to a small d-1 in the MAAC for example. Kentucky Wesleyan will have larger crowds on average for their home games than a third d-1. Cause you are special at age 10 , 12 etc doesn't mean you are in high school and there are late bloomers everywhere/. Same around the state, there are going to be someone out of each class come out of nowhere that none of us mention to get a college scholarship to a d-2, NAIA or maybe even d-1. Wherever your scholarship is it doesn't matter, the goal is to graduate college at age 21, 22, 23 and be debt free. If you have did that, you have succeeded and owe all the people that helped you along the way a big thank you.

Yes he re-classified to that class, this happens a lot out of state. Aaron Cosby also did this but he never came back to Kentucky. Depends on school district I have known kids personally leave a school in Kentucky to repeat a grade then come back to the same school because their home school wouldn't let them repeat. They weren't KHSAA age at that time though.

Eli Wright - Apollo (stock will rise extremely high next year after AAU full season) 4.) Matthew Miller - John Hardin (rumors circulating WKU is about to offer) 5.) Braxton Beverly - Perry County Central (numerous offers for the Sophomore to be) 6.) Darius Williams - Dunbar (Numerous D-1 interest, close to receiving a 1st offer from NKU) 7.) Mason Faulkner - Caverna (youngest kid probably in the class, interesting to see where his height & weight are in 10 months) 8.) Will Hager - Mercer County (been on the scene for two years and established now, key component to a regional contender over next 3 years) 9.) Ben Weyer - New Cath (Freshman Starter for New Catch) 10.) Malik Dow - Ballard (great defender and rebounder, must improve offense game, and how much bigger) By time it is all said and done, a top 3-5 player in this class my predictions will look as. 1.) they are only looking at the last 10 years, but the Lex Cath teams in the 90s were loaded.

What about Derek Springate? What is he doing now, is he still coaching. I know he did a very ample job at Henry County and left after two year for the exact reason I don't know but have heard different conflicting stories. Either way not about why he left henry county but did he move back to the boyle area, last time I talked to him he was going to be moving back that way. Does he still coach and would he be interested in the position?

The TarHeels played in the D-2 Nationals, this was the D-1 Nationals that are listed as finishers. I don't believe they placed in the D-2 though, TarHeels were fighting injuries and weren't at full strength in Florida.
