Good luck, keep us updated .

Good Luck Derby State!! Is there a schedule anywhere on the AAU website?

Isn't James Pouncy taking his U14 team to Nationals as well (Tar Heels)? I believe they are playing DII. I heard their starting point guard (Dante Hendrix - incoming Cooper Freshman) broke his elbow this weekend in practice and is scheduled for surgery this week. Big blow for Dante and the Tar Heels. I hope the young man is able to be back in time for football at Cooper in the fall. He's a great athlete and even better young man. You hate to see athletes put in the time preparing only to be unable to compete due to injuries.

For those of you who do not know Dante, he is the younger brother of Aaron Morgan from Cooper.

It's good to see the local incoming freshmen competing at the National AAU tournament this/next week.

Good luck to Derby State and all the KY teams. I have already had a coaches call me from Louisiana and Texas asking about Derby State and I told them both they better bring their lunch and be ready because if you sleep on them they will beat you by 20! I told them Van Handorf avg. 30pts/game at last year's Nationals with Pouncy's NKY Select team that finished 6th in the country and now he's playing with at team that has size so they better look out.

KY teams do well and I expect nothing less at this year's Nationals. Good luck to all the KY teams and

Here is the link, you can look at divison 1 or division 2 nationals or other tournaments. The 7th grade nationals was last week and the Kentucky Gators finished 5th in the country, last year they were 4th.

MATTS Mustangs and Spiece Gators are in the division 1 8th grade with Derby State and the 8th grade division 2 has Derby State Colts, Louisville Lightning, Kentucky Select / Tarheels I know for sure from Kentucky in it, there might be a couple more. Haven't looked at the D-2 brackets yet but was reportedly to be about 150 teams in it.

I've heard ALOT of good things about Dante. Hoping a for a speedy recovery for the young man.

Good luck to all the KY teams. AAU nationals is something every kid should get to experience. I was lucky enough to play in it 3 times. I've also heard good things about the kid who broke his elbow. Been told he is a great athlete all the way around

Derby State 14u held the lead most of the way including a 49-40 lead late in the 3rd quarter. Team Penny went on a 12-2 run and was able to hang on in the 4th as it went back and forth. Penny went 6-6 from the FT line down the stretch and beat Derby State 72-67. Derby State can now place as high as 11th which would be the highest for a Kentucky team at 8th grade nationals.

Losing by 5 to Team Penny isn't anything to be ashamed of! How'd it end up? Best of luck.
