AHSPanther23 Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Here comes the question..... Would you play him since he only intends to stay one year?

spindoc Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 You play the hand your dealt. He's legal, if he's good enough a coach would be a moron not to play him. But it's whatever. Now we are bound to get the homegrown, boys in your program, ect. refrain.
DragonFire Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 For one year? OK, a little less anxiety on my side of things now. But I was already a bit worried that next year might be the breakthrough year for South Warren. This may put them over the top.
First Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 No thanks. And talk about things that there should be rules against. Wow.

Dayton Gumm is a junior, and started at the PG position last year. He and his brother moved over to South Warren from Warren Central two years ago. As with those types of transfers the reasons given for why that happened vary. I do know that I've been at close enough proximity at a game to their father - former WC star Cedric Gumm - to hear him loudly talk about how if Dayton had still been at Central he'd have been on the bench because of Coach Unseld's philosophy. From that and other things I always assumed that he was both upset that the older son had almost zero play time going into his senior year when they transferred, but also thought his son might be similarly railroaded in having to wait his turn. And now here he'll be, playing behind an 8th grader.

And to be fair, really, if this was a situation that a kid transferred/moved into a school district to play as a senior, would be expect him not to play? Really?

Well if he turns out not to be a stud - at least next year - then it won't really make a difference to anyone at all. The things I've read though, he talks as if he has been promised the starting job already.

plantmanky Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Transfer in, transfer out, that's what ky basketball is all about. KY basketball rules this state, that's what we gotta do to make it great.
