Stud IL 8th Grader Transferring to South Warren - For 1 Year

This might explain it:

"I never had the intent of him going to high school in Chicago – never," he said. "I've got family (in Bowling Green) ... and it came to having family there and close friends."

This sounds like the reasons transfers from out of state should happen. It speaks well that parents see moving to the state of KY is good for their children's development educationally, socially, and for growth as a basketball player. I know Marquis is a great kid and the family is passionate about his overall growth, not just BB. He will be a great player to watch grow and I suspect he will bring more exposure to the state for being another D1 prospect down the road. The more D1 kids from our state lifts the entire perception of talent here, which is better for all kids trying to go D1 when that perception changes.

Can't say I blame him. Bowling Green is the best city in the state and having lived in the Chicago area for a year I'd choose BG over Chicago 8 days a week.

Good luck at South Warren!!! I know it is a great school to go to.

This is the part where I complain that you're dissing my home town and you claim that you're doing nothing of the sort.

Whew. Glad that's out of the way.

For the record, I love Chicago and enjoyed every single day up there when I was in the area(even the lake effect snow didn't bother me and I hate snow. I still love BG more. :D

Read recently in the BGDN that the kid DOES plan on staying here for HS. Father dispelled the rumor of coming down for a year and going back to Chicago. So we will see.

I'll believe he's playing that year any year where he is there at the beginning. Until then, it is definitely a wait and see. He's here now, he'll play this year. I personally doubt he's there all five years.
