Danville 2013/2014

Featured Replies

Basketball season for 2013/2014 should provide another exciting year. What should we expect from Danville? Remember, please be constructive.

I heard Ronnie Bottoms was deciding on whether he wanted the job or not. Heard it was his if he wanted it.

Bottoms would be a great hire. I know he was considered last time, but wasn't offered the position. Whoever the new coach is has to be able to work within the school to get more athletes out for basketball. Too many kids playing the sport in rec. or AAU leagues instead of for the school.

Anyone other than Bottoms putting in for this job, would any assistants want to move up?

I'd love to coach at Danville. Sign me up!

No clue but I know a ton of folks who want Ronnie Bottoms to take the job. I've heard it is his if he wants it. Does anyone know if that is true?

That's true from what I've been hearing but you never know. Ronnie Bottoms would be a great hire for Danville IMO. I played for him at Boyle Co and from my experience he is the kind of coach Danville needs. He will get after you and challenge you and demand discipline.

What about Derek Springate? What is he doing now, is he still coaching. I know he did a very ample job at Henry County and left after two year for the exact reason I don't know but have heard different conflicting stories. Either way not about why he left henry county but did he move back to the boyle area, last time I talked to him he was going to be moving back that way. Does he still coach and would he be interested in the position?

That's a great question. I believe he is still in the area. I last saw him at a car wash about a year ago but I haven't been told that he left the area. I also wonder if he'll put in for the job.

Has Derek not been coaching, has he been teaching?

I'm not sure. I'll see what I can find out though.

Springate would be a great hire, I am sure that the Danville administration would want their coach to be in the building. What does Danville have coming back? Will they be able to get out of their district or make it to the All A state Tournament? Whoever they hire needs to be someone that is committed to at least 7 years or more. They haven't had a stable coach since Ed Mckinney to my knowledge.

I don't think danville would consider springate just bc of the questions surrounding why he left Henry Co and West Jessamine.
