Please let the Bombers know they DO NOT want to come in Poplar Level Road from Watterson Expressway (I-264). The Louisville Zoo has a special Halloween gig and it shuts down Poplar Level Road for the most part. They are better off coming I-64 to Grinstead Drive, thru Cherokee Triangle to Eastern Parkway to the north end of Poplar Level. Mapquest will get you there.

The BluegrassPreps voters were masterful again this past week. In 6A Poll threads for ranked teams last week, the voters were a perfect 7 for 7. #1 Trinity (10-0) beat then #11 Ballard (5-4) to win District 4. #2 Scott County (8-2) beat then #5 Pleasure Ridge Park (6-3) #3 St. Xavier (8-1) beat #8 Butler (6-4) #4 Male (8-2) beat then #9 Manual (3-6) Then #7 Ryle (7-2) beat then #6 Simon Kenton (9-1) Then #10 Frederick Douglass (7-2) beat #15 Henry Clay (4-5) Central Hardin (6-3) beat North Hardin (3-6) to win District 2. In a game without the poll, then #12 Tates Creek defeated Lafayette as expected to win District 8. The season total for winners picked in threads with polls is 59 of 64 for 92.2% accuracy for 2017. I have a great deal of respect for the BluegrassPreps members who participate each week. There are many knowledgeable high school football followers posting in this forum. Here’s the Top Ten list with 2017 records. #1 Trinity (10-0), #2 Scott County (8-2), #4 Male (8-2), #7 Simon Kenton (9-1) and #8 Butler (6-4) completed their regular season schedule. #3 St. Xavier (8-1) vs. St. Xavier (OH) (8-1): I like the Bombers in a close game. Historically, the Tigers have given the Bombers a tough game. It is Senior Night for 55 Tigers. The Bombers are coming off a 28-14 loss at St. Ignatius (OH). #5 Ryle (7-2) at 5A Dixie Heights (3-6): The Raiders’ coaching staff will need to get the Raiders to focus on Dixie Heights after the emotional victory over Simon Kenton. Ryle should not have any trouble with these Colonels. #6 Pleasure Ridge Park (6-3) at 3A #5 Central (7-2): The Panthers should defeat the 3A Yellowjackets. Pleasure Ridge Park’s three losses have come at the hands of quality 6A opponents, each currently ranked in the top 4 of 6A. This is a pride game. The hive will be jumping on Friday night. PRP will need to maintain their composure and execute their game plan. #9 Frederick Douglass (7-2) at Conner (4-5): Look for the Broncos to close out their first regular season with a victory. Finishing second in their district is a terrific accomplishment for Frederick Douglass and bodes well for establishing a program to be reckoned with for the immediate future. #10 Manual (3-6) at Eastern (4-5): The Crimsons have performed well on defense most of the season. Eastern does have some offensive weapons and this could be very close battle. Manual cannot afford to look ahead to their rematch with #3 St. Xavier on November 3. Others to watch in 6A: There is a thread with a corresponding poll for Ballard/Central Hardin. 11. Tates Creek (7-2) at 4A Franklin County (5-4) The Creekers have won three in a row and six of their last seven games. The Flyers have gone win-loss every game and are expected to finish the regular season at .500. 12. Ballard (5-4) vs. #14 Central Hardin (6-3) The battle of the Bruins is expected to go the way of the Jefferson County school. It will be a hard fought battle. Ballard’s slight talent advantage should be enough to bring home this victory. 13. Campbell County (6-3) vs. 5A #1 Covington Catholic (9-0) The Colonels have way too much firepower for the Camels. Covington Catholic looks to close out a perfect regular season. 14. Central Hardin (6-3) at #11 Ballard (5-4) 15. Henry Clay (4-5) vs. Cooper (2-7) The Blue Devils should have enough manpower to hold off the Jaguars. Cooper is on a two game winning streak after dropping their first 7 contests in 2017.

The wing-T offense of Scott County will create some headaches for their playoff opponents. I'd like to think Trinity's spread attack will cause some similar issues for opposing defenses. I am sure Hudl accounts will be in full use over the next several weeks.

Let's review some of the high notes of my thought process:Central Hardin beat a Soutrhwestern team that was pounded by Henry Clay by 32 points. Christian Academy of Louisville is a 2A program. Meade County is 4-4 and the Bruins won by 7. Bowling Green just tap danced on South Warren and they are on a two game losing skid. Ballard did lose to 2A DeSales. Their other losses are to Manual, Male, and Trinity. Ballard has a great number of athletes and their quarterback is a very stout young man. I am not convinced Central Hardin has played against a squad with the overall speed possessed by these Ballard Bruins. Central Hardin beat North Hardin by 7 and are District 2 Champions. That is an accomplishment. Yes, I picked against Central Hardin and the Bruins proved I made an error in judgment. The BGP voters at large chose more wisely than I did. Good luck in the first three rounds of the playoffs and I hope Trinity gets to visit your home turf the day after Thanksgiving. The Rocks have not faced Central Hardin in varsity football action. The Bruins would be the 92nd different opponent for Trinity. Trinity is 0-1 versus Elizabtehtown and 5-0 versus North Hardin (Hardin County schools Trinity played).

This is true. Intereception returned around 30 yards for TD was Trinity's last score, so everyone knows it was not a case of running up the score. The game was played with 9 minute quarters.

Trinity Nation would certainly prefer a trip to Cecilia than Paducah!

I don't like it. As in baseball , when the KHSAA adds one more umpire for regionals and then adds another for state tounament-the added officials have to make a "call" to show why they are needed. The officials must justify their presence by making some calls or else why should they be included in the first place.

Your original post stated "Louisville" not "Kentucky" -two entirely different animals. Do your research- the scores are available on the KHSAA scoreboard website. Now back to St. Iggy's win over the Bombers. This will add to the Bombers angst as they apparently do not like to travel 100 plus miles. Louisville St. Xavier usually plays them close.....much closer than they should.....odds are this a one score game.

The Broncos are looking for their eighth win of the the season. Conner is trying to reach .500 for 2017. Frederick Douglass is coming off a hard fought 14-7 victory over Henry Clay (4-5). The Cougars lost 21-20 to Cooper (2-7) last Friday and are in a three game losing skid. The Broncos two losses are to 2A #1 Danville (10-0) and #2 Scott County (8-2). I believe the Lexington team takes this one 35-21 and head into the playoffs on a high note.

Oh, I believe there is some room for debate in recent years. If you want to start another thread, we can discuss some examples.

Trinity freshman are among the best in Kentucky. Outside of line drive on opening kickoff recovered by Elder, the game was never in doubt. My understanding this was Elder's third loss at this level. Trinity offense was vanilla at first and when they opened it up, the Panthers struggled to defend the pass. This loosened up the run defense and 14-6 halftime lead grew to 28-6 after three. Rocks have one more freshman game hosting Fern Creek on Thursday.

The Ballard (5-4) squad did have some offensive success against Trinity despite the shutout. I am not convinced Central Hardin's (6-3) strength of schedule has prepared them adequately for this contest. Make it 35-14 in favor of the District 4 second place team.

The #10 Crimsons (3-6) travel to Middletown to play Eastern (4-5). The Crimsons defense has played well most of the season and I look for this one to be more of the same. Make it Manual 13-7 over the Eagles in their regular season finale.

The Raiders (7-2) will be heavy favorites to defeat the Colonels (3-6) in their regular season finale. Look for Ryle to score early and often running the ball and then resting their starters.

Can the Panthers regroup after the spanking suffered at the hands of #2 Scott County? The 3A #5 Yellowjackets (7-2) are coming off a 42-3 beatdown of Thomas Nelson (2-7). I like Pleasure Ridge Park to respond well enough to finish the season at 7-3. The Panthers will win this one 28-14.

The Bombers (8-0 pending the outcome versus St. Ignatius (OH) at 3PM Sat.) come to Louisville to face the Tigers (8-1) to complete the regular season. The Ohioans are rated a top ten team in the USA in several polls. They are the defending "big school" Division 1 Champions in Ohio. The Louisville team plays these guys extremely close year in and year out. This season the Jesuits from Cincinnati are heavy favorites. The Xaverians will put up a good fight before dropping a 24-10 decision.

No. If the playoffs go the way of favorites: The Raiders will host Male in round two. The Raiders will go to St. Xavier in round three. Winner will get Scott County. Then on to Kroger Field to face the Shamrocks. Happy motoring!

Both are Class 6A district winners in northern Kentucky. The spread was a bit of a shocker. I do not feel this outcome was an upset.

I hate when this happens. I was lucky to choose attending the Male/Manual freshman game (I know coaches on both sidelines) over St. X/Butler.

Denny Nash at Bishop David.

This game was played this past Monday. Word on the streets was Male dominated this one. I understand Manual only has a handful of sophomores and filled in with some little used juniors and a few freshmen. Hopefully someone else can add some details.

Manual never trailed in this one. The halftime score held up to be the final score. Male scored on one 25 yard fourth down pass play. Manual scored one TD by air and two TDs via the run and added two 2-pt conversion runs. The Manual defense was very stout.
