No... I felt after the night that Ryle came inches away from beating Cathedral and SK nearly lost to Beechwood that they were the better team.

At worst they were a toss-up IMHO

Both are Class 6A district winners in northern Kentucky. The spread was a bit of a shocker. I do not feel this outcome was an upset.

Earlier in the season I thought that they were pretty evenly matched. As it went on I thought that Ryle separated themselves as being better.

Coaches did a great job tonight. Chiz was amazing to watch run. Pilyer did a good job managing his throws. Front d line was solid all night hopefully this is a turning point and we continue play to your strengths

@HOF I don't mean to single you out, but seeing as you're the only one voting that this was an upset at this time, do you have any particular reasoning?

Going off matchups the last couple weeks haven’t been the best Ryle football and SK consistently puts up points . Maybe they just don’t play as well against district teams...

Plus some people voted for SK (like myself) to win. Just sticking with my pick . The real upset is almost 500 yards rushing . That’s next level stuff.

Nothing wrong with sticking with your gut. Goodness knows I've done that a time or two with my power rankings. Thanks for the candor, HOF. Glad to have you on here posting :thumb:

Not an upset at all. Pioneer's offense was truly impressive. Their achille's heel is once again that defense (second year in a row). Chisolm had a legendary night comparable to the other No.Ky "Jake" at Sweet Sixteen last year. But, Ryle's defense had Shearer running for his life all night and that was pretty impressive part of why this was not an upset. Best team won.

Ryle was the underdog, so it was a bit of an upset. The fact that they won pretty easily (from what I read), makes it a bonafide upset IMO.

Ryle’s district is a bit more competitive than SK’s. Cooper and Conner are always up for the task. Just look at their game for 2nd in the district.

Guess I drank a little to much of the SK kool aid...really thought they would win this game....but as stated in the other thread Ryle has really improved since the beginning of the season...it was a great game to watch in person.....As for SK, my buddy last night summed it up talking to his son after the game that its a new season in two weeks time to grind harder

Good question. Ryle has improved as the season has gone on. If you would have told me before last night's game that I had to pick a winner I would have picked Ryle, but Simon Kenton was undefeated heading into the game. If it was an upset, it was the slightest of upsets.

I don't look at the final score and see Ryle as a blowout winner. When you have that many points being scored that fast, a three touchdown margin is like a one touchdown margin in a a low scoring game.

Kudos to the Raiders. Certainly not an upset. Kudos to Ryle staff and players for making adjustments early in the season that have paid dividends.
