  1. I fully expect a St. Xavier victory. The trouble wit Manual is the staff has to convince them they can beat the Tigers. I do not believe Coach Carmony as had the time to build the Crimsons confidence enough for the upset to occur. Tigers 24-0.
  2. Organizations that voted in this week’s poll: The Daily Independent, Ashland; Daily News, Bowling Green; Kentucky Enquirer, Cincinnati; Times-Tribune, Corbin; East Kentucky Broadcasting, Pikeville; The News-Enterprise, Elizabethtown; Daily Enterprise, Harlan; The Gleaner, Henderson; Kentucky New Era, Hopkinsville; Lexington Herald-Leader, Lexington; The Courier-Journal, Louisville; The Ledger Independent, Maysville; The Middlesboro Daily News, Middlesboro; Times Leader Princeton, Princeton; The Commonwealth-Journal, Somerset; WDKY, Lexington; WKYX, Paducah. Louisville gets one vote, the same as Somerset, Lexington, and everyone else. Very interesting. I like the BluegrassPreps system. There is not nearly as much bias against certain areas of the Commonwealth as there appears to be in the AP poll. :scared:
  3. tommyjohn8400 #6 Butler - Somebody fix that This thread was started prior to the newest rankings being released. These threads are normally started on Saturday mornings or Sundays early in the season as soon as both teams have played their games. The newest rankings come out on Monday wnd BGP feels the members and public are better served getting the threads started ASAP.:thumb: There is an error in this week's rankings as I failed to update the Top Ten properly for Pleasure Ridge Park and Butler. :bag:
  4. Originally, Trinity started playing week 0 out of necessity. Trinity struggled to find 9 or 10 games. Then, the coaching staff decided it was nice to have the last week of regular season off to heal up for playoffs. Trinity has gotten by with one scrimmage for quite a while. The annual green-white intrasquad scrimmage is a fairly good dress rehearsal. This is followed the next week by a three quarter full speed, game like scrimmage.
  5. Trinity does not. Nor does St. Xavier. Both probably should. You know "we" love to gamble!
  6. Odds are the Pioneers and Bruins will hook up in round two. We have a lot of ground to cover before then. The season will go by quickly.
  7. Injuries were a big part of the first game. Trinity was healthy for the second game. I am not sure St. Xavier will survive Scott County or Male to reach the finals this time around.
  8. Thank goodness Trinity has WLKY-32 Weatherman Jay Cardosi (father of SR. linebacker Nick Cardosi) "calling the shots" for Shamrock games! :sssh: I like it in the 60s. The colder it gets, the more winter gear I can break out!
  9. For the Colonels: Duncan Summe or Lucas Summe had his name called quite a bit. It may have been both. As did Daniel Felix. I believe Noah Powers was the Colonels QB. For Trinity, Seth Jutz and Jake McKean split time at QB. Jacob McCarthy and Nick Wagner made a few nice catches. Carter Martin and Kaelin Racculia played well.
  10. It was well played from a spectator's stand point. I am certain the coaches will share some words of wisdom with their players. It was 14-0 at the half. Game was played with 10 minute quarters. Trinity used their junior varsity back up as well as their sophomore hopeful at quarterback. They split game time. Trinity made a few more plays on each side of the ball. The Colonels QB will be sore as he absorbed a few shots. The Colonels TD came with less than a minute to play on a tipped pass in the end zone. The wide receivers kept their focus a little more than the defenders on that play. No helmet to helmet hits. No kneeling by anyone during the National Anthem. The flag was flown at half mast for the Las Vegas shooting massacre with a pre-game moment of silence observed by all.
  11. 6A Notebook 10/2: Two unbeatens remain #1 Trinity and #7 Simon Kenton are the only two undefeated in the Commonwealth’s largest football class. In 6A Poll threads for ranked teams last week, the BluegrassPreps voters were a perfect 5 for 5. The choices were #1 Trinity over #2 St. Xavier; #4 Male over #5 Pleasure Ridge Park; #8 Butler over #9 Manual; Cathedral (IN) over #7 Ryle; Campbell County over Mt. Healthy (OH). This brings the season total to 41 of 46 for 89.1%. The feature games this week include #4 St. Xavier at #9 Manual; #3 Scott County vs. #10 Douglass; #5 Pleasure Ridge Park at #6 Butler in a rare Thursday night matchup (St. James Art Fair begins Friday). Please see game threads with polls for more details. In other games involving BluegrassPreps 6A top ten teams: #1 Trinity hosts the Eastern Eagles. Trinity looks to raise their all-time series record to 38-2. These two first met in 1977. The Eagles defeated the Shamrocks in 1993 20-4 and 1994 21-14 in overtime. Both wins by the Eagles were in regular season games. Trinity is 7-0 on the year and has a 22 game winning streak. The Eagles are 3-3. #4 Male hosts Bryan Station. The Bulldogs are 6-1 and the Defenders are winless in 6 games. These two programs have not met for more than 20 years. #6 Ryle plays at Cooper. The Raiders are 4-2 and are coming off a tough 23-17 loss on ESPNU to Cathedral (IN). Cooper in winless in 6 games this season. This is a key district five contest with post-season seeding implications. The Jaguars fell to Ryle 49-12 in last season’s game. #7 Simon Kenton visits Boone County. The Pioneers have a sparkling 7-0 record after their win over 1A #1 Beechwood last week. Boone County is 1-5 and enters the week on a three game losing streak. This is a district 6 game. The Pioneers won last year’s contest 52-0. Central Hardin (4-3), Meade County (4-3), North Hardin (2-5) and fifth place from district 1 will play the top 4 in district 1 in the first three rounds of the playoffs. District 4 (Trinity, Eastern, Ballard, Jeffersontown, and Seneca plays district 6 (Simon Kenton, Campbell County, Boone County with fifth place from District 4 acting as fourth place in District 6. District 5 ( Male, St. Xavier, Manual, Pleasure Ridge Park, and Butler) plays District 3 (Ryle, Cooper , and Conner with the fifth place team from District 5 acting as fourth place team in District 6. District 1 plays district 2 and district 7 plays district 8. The district leaders in Class 6A: 1. Henderson County and McCracken County (2-0) 2. No games played 3. Male (2-0) 4. Ballard (2-0) 5. No games played 6. No games played 7. Scott County and Douglass (2-0) 8. No games played Class 6A District Members: District 1 – Daviess County, Henderson County, McCracken County, Muhlenberg County, Ohio County District 2 – Central Hardin, Meade County, North Hardin District 3 – Butler, DuPont Manual, Male, Pleasure Ridge Park, St. Xavier District 4 – Ballard, Eastern, Jeffersontown, Seneca, Trinity (Louisville) District 5 – Conner, Cooper, Ryle District 6 – Boone County, Campbell County, Simon Kenton District 7 – Bryan Station, Henry Clay, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Scott County District 8 – George Rogers Clark, Lafayette, Madison Central, Tates Creek
  12. Outside Outside top five, there is not a team that strikes fear in their opponents.
  13. This is not a computer based system. The Pioneers will struggle Ryle. They may struggle with Ballard in playoffs.
  14. The voters are consistent in their rankings. I believe in their observations.
  15. Trinity pays specific sports supporters a flat fee to work (golf, tennis, baseball, cheerleaders, etc). My understanding is whatever profit remains goes to athletics. At the end of the fiscal year (June 30) the athletics funds are cleared to the general fund and the process begins again. There are some Jefferson County Public Schools who have all money swept into the school's general fund. This tends to make getting volunteers tougher because they do not see the direct benefit of their hours of work for a particular sport.
  16. How does your school handle the profits from football concession sales? Does it stay with football boosters or earmarked or football needs? Does it go to the school's general fund? Dos it stay in athletics pool of money? -
  17. Covington Catholic's pool of talent is much greater than Chatard's. Look for a 21 point win by the Colonels.
  18. I was informed this gentleman was not injured at Purdue camp. I do not believe he is expected to return this season. The health laws eliminate free conversation regarding teenagers. I do not know any of the "walking wounded" personally.
  19. 67 total passes with no interceptions. 47 carries with no fumbles. 14 penalties total for 120 yards (9 on Trinity for 75 yards). My favorite stat of the night besides the score: St. Xavier-ONE kickoff.
  20. Harbrecht is out due to injury suffered at Jeff Brohm Camp for OL/TE at Purdue.
  21. The Broncos are a big thorn in the rest of Fayette's side as far as football is concerned.
  22. With Open Enrollment/Reciprocal Agreements in the county, Elizabethtown (independent) must be attracting some of the better football players. I see they are #4 in 3A.
  23. Bohn has 17 touchdown passes in 2017. He is 162 of 208 with two interceptions. The passing yardage stands at 1,966 for the 7 games-an average of 281 yards per game.
  24. Trinity's Rondale Moore is my choice. He is the offensive difference maker for the #1 ranked Class 6A defending champions.
