  1. I understand Hobbs broke his elbow and is done for the season at Male. This information came from within the coaching staff.
  2. Waggener/Pulaski 2003 2nd round playoff game. Waggener had a 62-41 lead a couple minutes into the 2nd half, only to see Pulaski rattle off 27 straight to go up 68-62 with about 5 minutes to go. Waggener came back and scored but missed the PAT to leave the score tied at 68. Pulaski quickly scored to go up 75-68 in the final minutes. Waggener drove down the field in the final seconds, only to have Pulaski force a turnover deep in Maroon territory. Pulaski took the turnover to the house, making the final score 82-68.
  3. "But for those who say and BELIEVE that the privates win more because they OUTWORK the public coaches/programs, I call hogwash." In certain situations, the private school student athletes are motivated by each other to achieve at a higher level. Come to Louisville and visit a Trinity practice in football. This program excels because of the internal drive to be the best in the largest team sport. Trinity's basketball team works very hard, but you can't teach 6'8". You can teach a 5'8 170lb young man to be a QB. You can teach a 5"10" 200lb young man to be a part of a cohesive unit of other similar sized young men and build a nice offensive line. You can't teach a kid to be able to dunk a basketball. You can improve his jumping skills somewhat through training. You may or may not be able to improve shooting skills. You can definitley get thicker in the weight room. It's easier to build a good basketball team than a good football team. Assumption dominates volleyball because their players have played since the second grade and have outstanding facilities and play practically year-round. In Jefferson County, the public schools offer a very limited number of athletic opportunities for their middle schoolers. They used to have football and did away with it years ago. I don't believe that it's hogwash to state that private school kids outwork many of their counter parts. Come for a visit. The weight room Trinity backers have paid for is a big reason for the success. The kids utilize the facilities and the coaches make very little per hour for their efforts.
  4. Strive for improvement. Yes, certain teams have the mentality of winning the state as their ultimate goal, but not all schools or teams. Remember a school can opt out of competing for a state title and remain a member in good standing with the KHSAA. The membership chooses to compete for a state title in each sport. Mr. Sears is the one who is making "winning a state title" the point of contention. If this was truly his point, then why not strive for classes in all sports (except basketball....wouldn't want to damage the cash cow)? This discussion will continue from now on.....:thumb:
  5. I understand Mr. Sears used to coach at Bowling Green High and had athletes attend from several surrounding counties. I am not sure what the axe he has to grind. Maybe we should form a committee and do a little digging.....
  6. It will be a Trinity/St. X final at 7:30PM on December 8. If a snowstorm or frigid temperatures are conjured up, then this game may be won on a flip of a coin. I hope all the Tiger injuries are healed by late September.
  7. Jordan will announce a verbal commitment to OSU, as told to Jody Demling, but understands that the recruiting process will carry on since there is nothing binding with a verbal commitment. He is 16 years old and was very impressed with Ohio State's facilities and staff.
