  1. If it was not clear, these two wins were over excellent teams. Warren Central (IN) won 42-21 last night over North Central. Scott County will get to see Moeller up close and personal this Friday.
  2. Agreed. I am unsure why Saint Xavier has Fairdale on the schedule. The benefits are minimal in my opinion.
  3. Here's a vote for Conner. I believe Simon Kenton is a very good team and the fact Conner played them well is all I need to convince me this 6A versus 4A matchup will reslt in a victory for the visitors.
  4. Also impressive: Lack of Penalties: Trinity 2 for 10 yards and Moeller 2 for 19 yards! The Moeller coach made a point of seeking out the officials and shaking some hands and appeared to be complimentary of their efforts.
  5. Pleasure Ridge Park is 3-0 after defeating Eastern 21-0 last night. Their previous wins were vs. 5A #2 Bowling Green 35-21 and at 4A Valley 41-6. Look for the Panthers to control the ball as they did versus Eastern. Pleasure Ridge Park used a balanced attack against Eastern rushing for 167 yards and passing for 181 yards. Eastern only gained 97 yards total with 11 gained on the ground. The Panthers offense has totalled 562 yards on the ground while gaining 551 yards through the air. The Panthers defense has been equally impressive allowing 65 total rushing yards and 245 total passing yards for the season. North Hardin opened the season with a 42-7 loss at 5A #2 Bowling Green. They followed this with a 28-14 win over 4A #13 John Hardin last week. The Trojans won at 3A #3 Elizabethtown 50-14 to go 2-1 in a game played Saturday. Jr. Eric Moore continues to lead the the Trojans at QB. Sr. Tavian Starks and Fr. Lavell Wright are key rushers. Despite their success versus Elizabethtown, North Hardin will be hard pressed to move the ball on Pleasure Ridge Park.
  6. The Pioneers remained unbeaten in 2017 (3-0). Meade County and Bryan Station were the first two victims and Simon Kenton held off a scrappy Conner team 13-6. The Pioneers were outgained on the ground 141-132. The passing yards were in favor of Simon Kenton 33-23. The Pioneers recovered one fumble and one interception. Sr. QB Matt Shearer picked up 86 yards rushing and scored both touchdowns for the 6A squad. The Colonels are now 0-3 with losses to Campbell County, Scott and Milford (OH). Dixie Heights relies on Sr. QB Paul Guenther to lead the offense. He is one of the Colonels top rushers along with Sr. RB Brandon Barker. Dixie Heights will have to play their best to keep this one close. Simon Kenton will be heavily favored in this northern Kentucky battle based this season's results and recent history: 2016 Simon Kenton 43-14 2015 Simon Kenton 45-7 2014 Dixie Heights 36-10 2014 Dixie Heights 24-0 in the playoff rematch.
  7. The Tigers remained undefeated (2-0) as they came home with a 30-19 victory over 5A #2 Bowling Green on Saturday. Fairdale evened their record at 1-1 with a 47-18 over 5A Nelson County. This game should prove to be a mismatch.
  8. Conner lost a 13-6 heartbreaker at #6 Simon Kenton Friday night. Scott was a huge 62-13 road winner over Covington Holy Cross on Saturday. The Cougars are 2-1 and Scott is 2-1. The Eagles may rise in the BGP 4A rankings this week. After Conner plays this road game, they host northern Kentucky rivals 5A Dixie Heights and travel to 2A #6 Newport Central Catholic the following week.

  10. Should Conner drop out of BGP 6A Top Ten with this close loss????
  11. Scott County comes into this game full of confidence after whipping Highlands 71-20. The Cardinals are one of seven 6A unbeaten teams and face their toughest test of 2017 hosting the Crusaders. Moeller comes to Georgetown after suffering a 38-30 loss to #1 Trinity. The Crusaders led 17-0 before Trinity scored and 24-10 at the half. Scott County has shown the ability to score on anyone. If they can stop Moeller's running game, the the Crusaders may rethink coming into Kentucky looking for wins and Harbin points for the Ohio rankings.
  12. No and three Moeller defensive backs were lanky and quick and their fourth was super quick. However, Moeller made the error of covering Moore with a linebacker when he lined up at running back. That proved costly for Moeller more than once. From BGP game thread: Rondale Moore finished with 22 catches for 304 yards and 3 TDs Nick Bohn 39-48 490 yards 4TDs 1 int I will post more complete stats when available.
  13. Trinity faces their first test against a Kentucky team as they travel to Preston Highway to play the Male Bulldogs. This game should be a tight contest. Historically, Trinity leads the all-time series 22-17-2. The Rocks won last year's 37-34 while Male won 20-19 and 42-13 in 2015. In 2014 the two 6A titans played a double overtime contest (Male 35-34) and an overtime (38-31 Trinity) in the playoff game. The Rocks' confidence should be sky high after their 38-30 come from behind win over Moeller (OH). Male's three wins this season include 35-10 Floyds Knobs (IN), #12 Ballard 35-14, and most recently, a 47-7 decision over 5A #11 Doss. Male's quarterback play settled down and their defense is playing very well. Two definites: Parking will be at a premium and the Mazle public address announcer will be loud and proud.
  14. I was impressed when Trinity QB Bohn came out on the field to encourage and congratulate the defense for holding the lead. This young man has grown each week at the quarterback position. He did throw his only interception of the season. He overcame it and played the next play" not allowing the miscue to affect his focus.
  15. The Generals lost their second straight as Lexington Catholic prevailed 25-0. Lafayette stands at 1-2 and faces a road test at Moeller (OH) on September 15. Douglass was off this weekend and stands at 1-1 in their inaugural season.
  16. The Bears defeated Western 43-6 on Thursday, raising their record to 2-1. Fern Creek suffered their first loss of the season 29-0 at Central. The Tigers then travel to face DeSales and Butler will play at Doss on 9/15. Fern Creek’s loss to Central was not expected. It will be interesting to see how the Creekers bounce back against Butler. The Bears appear to have their offense on the uptick and the defense has played well in 2017, with the only bump being the 28-27 loss to a very good DeSales team.
  17. The Crimsons had an open week after suffering close losses to Central 7-0 and Fern Creek 14-10 to open the season at 0-2. Manual is expected to pick up their first win of 2017 hosting Western Friday. The Warriors are 1-2. Western lost to Central and Butler after their opening week win over North Oldham. The schedules do not get easier as Male awaits Western after the Manual game and Manual gets a home date with Ballard.
  18. I knew you were on top if things. Did you know Coach Abell's father and played softball together for many years? Manual grad running Fern Creek program, right?
  19. Or maybe two inspired defenses playing their hearts out!
  20. Does your team update KHSAA, MaxPreps or utilize any other web site that can be viewed publicly for maintaing their statistics? This is where Trinity's awesome statistician updates the Rocks numbers. Very detailed. 24-Time State Champion Trinity Shamrocks - (Louisville, KY) - powered by LeagueLineup.com
  21. I am confident PRP staff wanted to get out of this game healthy and may have rested some starters once it was 21-0.
  22. Signs of life from the Bruins! Happy to see this result.
