You can't have a baseball field on campus and not have a softball field. Unless someone donates a couple of million dollars to buy some land you will not see any change in where baseball and softball play and that will not be on the Hill.

You can't force a venue to host the tourney and sadly you have to go to the one that will provide the best deal. Otherwise you are going to end up in a high school gym.

And it is based on who is advancing. Simon Kenton losing tonight will really hurt attendance in the semis. If Holmes loses then that is another blow. The size of the schools matters too. Paintsville had a great fan base for a small school but in the end a school 4 times as large can have mediocre support and still has more fans show up.

That is not totally true. Both WLWT and WXIX has extensive coverage of the SK and Holmes games. Granted that was local teams but they did have highlights on their newscast. The Enquirer can't even get a Reds score in the paper the next morning so that ship has sailed.

I would like to see the Girls have the opportunity to play at Rupp at least one time. Other than that you better hope someone bids on it or it will be like Soccer and held at high schools.

SK just had too much inside in the second half and ran the floor well too in the second half. Great job by Paintsville to hang right there the entire first half. So tough being a small school and battling a huge school but they never stopped hustling just ran out shots falling in the second half. Great crowd support for both teams.

Holmes is a difficult team to play. They speed you up on defense, then slow way down on offense. They got in foul trouble in the first half and that led to holding the ball and the 17-14 lead. You keep thinking they will get tired or in foul trouble but then they play a third quarter where they dominate. Unique game in that all 5 Holmes girls and entire Grayson Co team can handle the basketball as well as can be expected in a high school game. No real weak links on either team. Grayson Co would not go away and was in it until they had to start fouling. Nice fan support for Grayson Co. Holmes had more than they usually do so it made for a good atmosphere.

Just glad LB was not doing updates. That last shot would have taken about 438 posts before we found out the result.

I would think Thursday night with Simon Kenton and Holmes playing should have a decent crowd. SK will draw well and hopefully 9th region fans will come out and support Holmes.

The draw is random but the game times are not. Set up to have the 8th and 9th regions play at night and draw a bigger crowd.

All in all got to think it was a disappointing season for NCC. Make no mistake the best two teams are playing for the Region Monday night, but it has to be disappointing for NCC to lose by such a large margin to CovCath and Cooper during the season and now CovCath in the Regional. What is perplexing is this is probably the deepest NCC in quite awhile. As a small school depth is often the problem against schools 3 or 4 times larger. And it may have been the biggest factor in having some very good teams in the last 8 years but only 1 Regional championship. Obviously NCC had dominated in that period in the All-A but then ran into some excellent 9th region teams in the Regional. But again depth is not a problem this year. So what is? Granted Weyer was an excellent player for NCC last year and the Andersons were solid. But losing 3 players (like most teams do) seems to have a larger effect on NCC than what would be expected. Remember this was a team that made it to the Sweet 16 Semis. And again both Cooper and CovCath are very good teams. And while a loss is still a loss, I think most would have chalked a 5 point loss to CovCath up to CovCath just being a better team this year and a loss to a school 3 times larger in a non-class state. But getting blown out should be unacceptable with the talent NCC had returning. It would appear that NCC never settled on a rotation but maybe that is not as easy as it would appear. Maybe players were just inconsistent from game to game or in practice I don't know. But while 20 wins at a small school that plays a tough schedule is an accomplishment, it has to be less than what was expected after last year.

I did not know that public school coaches are prohibited by law from having an incredible club volleyball structure.

There is always the chance of upsets on a big college floor with changing lights and nothing behind the basket. Cooper vs CovCath is most likely but certainly not guaranteed.

I just think Dixie has had more close games wins than they should have (Lloyd 2 points, Beechwood 4 points, St. Henry 11 points) and lost to all the really good teams (CovCath and Cooper etc) on the schedule. They might be at the back of the bus but still on the bus.

True but then one game before that they had to hold off St. Henry to even make the District Final. So I would lump Lloyd in with NCC, Ryle, Newport, Holy Cross and Dixie on the Inconsistent Bus.

Both NCC and Ryle are inconsistent. Ryle can beat Conner and Holmes but lost to Holy Cross and Beechwood and Highlands and Boone Co. NCC beat Holy Cross, Beechwood, Highlands and Boone Co but lost to Conner and Holmes. So its kind of a tossup since both seem to have good days and bad days.
