I'm certain the NCC coaches are looking into basketball reasons as to why they lost the game and place zero blame on the refs. However, you'll never convince NCC fan at the local VFW's that his beloved team ever lost a game because the other team is better.

Another ref post. Has Ncc ever lost a game and it wasn't the refs fault? Unbelievable.

Yourself and He Got game were both hinting the refs were bad. Those refs probably never heard of NCC and don't even know where it is. They certainly aren't out to make NCC lose. Ncc is a good regular season team over the last few years. I predict they'll win the rematch with Doss, enter the post season with a great record and the role of favorite, and leave Bank of Ky Center in March disappointed saying wait until next year.

I heard Hoge could sing the national anthem, dance at halftime, and announce the games after the running clock started. Just something else to consider.

If the award is for the best high school player in Ky this year, then Hoge should win hands down. If it makes people feel better to vote for guys that played 5 or 6 games or guys with inflated stats beating little sisters of the poor before losing in the playoffs, then why have the award?

NCC lost and it's only because the refs were against them. No way they'd ever lose a game if the refs were unbiased.

I think Highlands and Covcath want to be the the same class. Neither is avoiding each other. I think the rivalry is good for both schools. I know Cooper moved up to avoid both. From what I heard Cooper liked the path to the 6A title game in years when not matched up with Trinity's district a lot more than they like the idea of facing Covcath and Highlands every year and possibly 2x a year some years.

I got there as the frosh were leaving the court. Covcath frosh team looked to have a lot of players.

My conclusion is that Kentucky is blessed with a lot of Great coaches and many deserving candidates. They are several guys who you can't go wrong picking.

Why is Covcath leaving mentioned with Highlands leaving? Did Covcath do anything in the last 4 year stint in 4a? Does Covcath have a significant win in the last 8 years?

I'm buying into the annual Covcath hype after a decade of futility.

Illinois is a doormat in all sports.

I know Covcath is a lock. Who else do you got for 2015?

The Highlands experience of being down big at that half and coming back against Florida and Elder sure didn't hurt. It even helped the fans. Their was no doubt the offense was coming out fast and strong and the D would come out adjusted. The guys knew what they needed to do to take care of business. Had they not had that experience during the year, it may have been a different mindset coming out of half time.

I looked at Highlands and Trinity's schedules and they didn't play. If you're looking at scrimmage scores it wasnt 49-2 and i doubt either team would play 10-12 lineman and 25 different guys on D during a real game. The scrimmage from Highlands viewpoint is to find out who can play and who can't. What better gauge than to see who can play vs Trinity. But if it makes the Red Colonels feel better, have at it. This Highlands fan was rooting for you, but went in knowing Dixie didn't have a signature win all season.

Dixie won't enjoy 5A. They've been losing to Highlands for 100 years. Covcath 41 Dixie 7. That was this year and Covcath was weak. I think Dixie had a nice team, but if they were in 4A this year, they would have turned in the equipment weeks ago like they had in the past. IMO there's only 3-4 good teams in Kentucky. Trinity and Highlands being 2 of them.

So this means Covington Catholic is going to field a team again next season? I thought maybe it was time to give up.

Great game. It was obvious Owensboro wasn't stopping Highlands. I was confident at halftime that the defensive coaches could make the adjustments to slow down Owensboro, but I wasn't convinced they could be totally shut out. I thought it would take turnovers to win. While Owensboro did make turnovers, they were made because Owensboro had to take chances in the air. The run adjustments were amazing. They completely shut down Owensboro in the 2nd half. The game went completely opposite of what I expected to see. I figured Highlands would get a big early lead with Owensboro making the score respectable late. The drive home was much more enjoyable than last year.

The defensive end for Belfrey had a great game. Hatfield from Belfrey also was a gamer. Hoge and Urlage from Highlands on O. Pangallo and Mills for Highlands D. Lots of big time performers.

I was going to wait until the second game to head over to the field. I wasn't sure this would be a good game. I had no preference on which team I wanted to win. As the game went on, I became a Wburg fan. It was a great game. Both teams had their moments. I have no doubt had Williamsburg had the ball 2nd in OT, that their coach would've gone for 2 and Williamsburg would've won the game. Congratulations to Mayfield. They made the plays they needed to win the game. I think either of these teams would have won the 2A title.

Bumbling, stumbling, fumbling. This game gets to the running clock quickly. East side of the bracket in 2a was worse than we thought it was.
