No need to "bench" BJ. He, like the rest of the team is still learning a new system. Expectations are that it was supposed to be fine tuned by week 1, but that didn't happen. The Tigers are usually scary good following a loss. I predict a route of 65-6 and Charles Walker will score 4 touchdowns. Probably 3 on the ground and 1 receiving. They will impress for the little future Tigers that will be in attendance for Future Tiger Night. Expect a really long line for Walker's signature after with every kid in the city asking for an arm band :thumb: Roll Tigers!

It will be Patriotic Night which if you recall, brought out the largest Rage Cage in Br. Thomas More Stadium history. Hearing it will be doubled Friday. Must see!

Well then we did a better job than I thought by making them not appear as good as they apparently are. The view from the sideline that I had did not include watching an MVP or D-I caliber QB. Sorry.

This will be a great game and one that I encourage all to attend no matter where you are located in the state. The home crowd will be crazy, especially the students in the Rage Cage. As for the game itself, I am not sure if the Tigers are ready for Bowling Green. As a St. X homer, I want nothing more than for St. X to end the Purples streak, but as of right now I'm not very confident in the defense and it's ability to stop a good offense. Giving up touchdowns of 28, 66, and 72 yards to an average group of receivers and a decent quarterback does not bode well for next week's matchup with the best receiver in the state and a very underrated quarterback in Devin Hayes. It will be a close game, as it has been the past 2 seasons, I predict a score of 31-26 with Bowling Green winning, but by the end of the week I may be switch that! I think Nagle coughs up the ball twice with two interceptions which keeps the game in favor of BG, but he will be a great game manager and help get Charles Walker the ball. Hope the Tigers can pull it out though! Roll Tigers.

Although it was just one week, Special Teams seemed to have dropped off significantly. That was one that was guaranteed with a Glaser coached Tiger team is a sound special team unit. Often overlooked, but is still one of the main 3 phases of the game that St. X consistently won, especially against Trinity. Seemed as though it was not focused on in preparation for Ballard. Hope they can make some changes to enhance that portion of the game!

Who are some playmakers for Lexington Catholic? Any posters know about the 2013 Black Knights? Like LongTimeReader said, St. X always handles Lexington Catholic well and I don't see that changing. Believe that this matchup when Seniors were freshman was 63-0 blowout for the Tigers. Hope it is a good game as I and many other St. X alums that live in the Lexington area will be in attendance! Expecting better performance from Nagle and from Hayden, Roshkowski, King and receiver. Look for a breakout game from corner Dekota Jones! He's a big time player for the Tigers! No problem with this one as Tigers finally hit the 40's winning 45-10.

Alright performance by the Tigers. Things were weird inside Br. Thomas More Stadium. Didn't see the energy from the players on the sideline that used to be there. Wolford wouldn't allow injured players to stand on the sideline either. That is disappointing because they are still apart of the team! Last state championship team, 2009 Tigers, opened their season against Ballard with a win 35-6... so not much of a difference there! That was an interesting stat that gave me some hope! By the looks of it on the field though on friday, that was not a state championship caliber team. Interested to see how they do against Bowling Green in 2 weeks. Then we will have a good idea of what this team can accomplish. We're not seeing everything that the offense is capable of... and that's by Coach Wolford's decision. 48-7 St. X Tigers weren't showing anything in the scrimmage so that is why they may have looked "unimpressive". Probably won't show anything again this week... or the week after that... but I know that the stands will be packed! Won't be surprised to see a sell out for the beginning of a new era and the Tigers will thrive off that. Only way Ballard will score is late on a 3rd team defense giving up a big play maybe to Will Bush. Tigers will open some eyes and send a message in this game! Look for the contact level to be really high for St. X and wear down Ballard fast. IT'S FOOTBALL SEASON!

Don't like to see that Nagle's Interception habit continued into a scrimmage. Was fine with it in 7 on 7 games and practice... really hope that does not continue any farther. Great first night for the Tigers though! Great to hear that the defense is going to solid and help the offense out! Bummed I couldn't make it up to Simon Kenton, but know it must have been weird to not have seen Coach Glaser on the sideline! Wow that's going to be a weird sight first time at home next Friday! Many say that St. X shouldn't be #1 preseason because they have a new coach. What if Glaser was still the coach this fall? Would they be #1?

Will be a great measuring stick for the new era of St. X football. Interested to see how they fair and how many times Charles gets in the end zone!

Senior Offensive Linemen Zane Meinors quit for personal reasons. Said to be because he was doing it for the wrong reasons aka his heart was not all the way in it. BIG loss for the offensive line both literally and from a depth prospective.

Significantly weaker than last year's. Brad Schickel graduated and he was very reliable in any situation, especially in the clutch. Senior Jake Collins will do the extra points and field goals as of now, but could split time with Junior Michael Bennett. Punter will either be Collins or Junior Mason King who has a boot! That won't be the strength like many times it is for St. X!

COACHING. That is what I want to see improvement on for this years team. Preferably the offensive side of the ball. If games get close and the play calling picks up, then I will know that something great can happen with this team. It was always in close games that the old staff seemed to play not to lose instead of going for the jugular. Can't wait to see how Nagle does in front of 30,000 people in October and can't wait to see all of the members of the team celebrate the school's 15th football state championship at Western Kentucky University on December 6.

The reason the defense has always looked as the weaker side is because the offense could not sustain a drive long enough for the defense to get any rest, thus leading to break downs in coverage due to fatigue. This problem then continued down the line to be untrust between the two-sides and a little bitterness coming from the defense towards the offense because of lack of points being scored. You can only hold teams and give the ball back to the offense so many times. The offense could never capitalize. If they would have been able to and how they will be this year, then you would not consider the defense weaker.

13 wins. I see two losses against the Ohio teams. I hope that I am wrong about the season finale on senior night against Cincinnati St. Xavier, but they are always so good. 13-2 with a trophy coming home to poplar level road!

Very much a toss up. Reggie has a team returning that he was actually on and has known for 3 years. B.J. is a transfer student and has yet to play in front of 30,000+ at PJCS. He has a ton of talent surrounding him like Avid said and all reports from people close to the team say that he has mixed in with the returning Tigers just fine and is really a team leader.

I know it's news drought season and no games, but why do we need to rank the top 5 teams in Kentucky in July? No one actually knows what the proper ranking should be. That is what the season is for! Only 41 more days! :dancingpa
