Besides, I think Mr Elam already has played in a State Championship his Soph yr. Maybe didnt win but still reached the final...

I agree, but wasn't it his Freshman season that John Hardin played in the championship?

Wow. Makes Tim Couch, Doug Beaumont, Curtis Pulley, Pookie Jones, all feel like a waste of talent. It helps that his team succeeds to the big stage but sometimes the greatest talent is playing with less than desirable talent.

And I'm sure he really cares that you'll pass on him. I'm sure that you passing on him will be devastating for him when he is playing Division 1 football next year while you sit on your couch.

Man, sensitive crowd out there. Ok I'll try to be more more nice...I don't think he will win Mr. Football. While he may be the best lineman in the state, Mr. Football is usually a skill position award. I don't think he will have the stats as DT to receive the ward.

 

Kind of like giving the Heisman Trophy to Suh when he was at Nebraska.

LTR it's ok to have your opinion, it just seems we have some very sensitive people on the board lately. Your point is valid, there will be skill position guys that put up crazy numbers that will draw the Mr. football votes. One of those guys will likely win the thing and if I was a betting man I would bet the house on the field against any lineman. You put way more thought into your comment than MaxPreps put in their pick. They have the highest rated recruit in the state as the favorite. Their justification for the pick. He is the highest rated recruit.

I love that he is getting all of the acclaim that he has and it's great for him and football in the state. But, ........... Film tells me that he is not even the best high school defensive lineman in the state.

Certainly a valid argument as to why he won't win; however, this is not what you said iniitially that people took exception. You don't have to be nice, but you do have to say what you mean.

You can see him now. Really good kid. Large too. The young man next to Matt is a legit 6'3", 226 lbs. Have had the chance on multiple occasions in the past few months to spend some quality time with him and one of his coaches. You would expect more attitude from a prospect such as him, but none of that. Just a good, humble kid. The first time we talked to him was at UK, at the time, he had 1 offer....Eastern KY. Obviously, things have changed.

 

Elam received an offer from Tennessee today.
