  1. Br. Thomas More Stadium at St. Xavier - 6,000 seats. Crowds near 7,500 and higher on big home game Friday nights.
  2. I agree with AT that it will be very low scoring. That is because I am rooting for the Tigers to win and if they have a shot it will have to be low scoring. Being shutout in two games already this season says how difficult it is for this offense to produce points. They move the ball really well, but can't finish drives. For them to win, they have to fight at the end of the drives and punch it in. The defense will have no problem containing Brooks, I believe. In the past, there has been 3 and 4 guys that St. X can't contain for the Rocks, but this year they really only have one to key on although I do recognize there are some young very talented wide outs that will play D-I before its over. Logan Butler and Connor Barnes have to have their best games at linebacker of their lives and keep Brooks in front of them. Too hard to make a score prediction right now, but if you made me... I say 7-6 in favor of the Tigers. Don't expect fireworks, just an ugly win that still counts as a win.
  3. I was and the Tigers looked ok... still not putting any stock into how a team looks in July during 7 on 7! It did show that the skill players for both Ballard and St. X will make a heck of an opener next month! QB Houk looked good back in the pocket and continues to take care of the ball. No interceptions the past two 7 on 7 outings. Quite impressive...
  4. Last season statistics there though. No more Nathan Roush. He was a great player, but not sure if they have someone to fill his shoes. St. X will hopefully have more to showcase with guys finally all returned from Track and Lacrosse that we didn't get to see in the Spring Practices or Game. Should be a fun night at the stadium. Go Tigers!
  5. St. Xavier will play DeSales, the defending 2A state champions, on Thursday at 6:00 PM.
  6. Learning how to lose to Butler, you mean? Come on, be real.
  7. It's a scrimmage I understand, but for the past three years, St. X has shown SK why they shouldn't be in the conversation each and every season right off the bat.
  8. Oh and throw in Henry Clay. They are my dark horse to win it all this season if it isn't going to be a Jefferson County team.
  9. Male, Manual, Scott County, St. Xavier and Trinity will be the teams to beat in my eyes. Yes, Manual because they are returning a ton of really good players and their youth is now experienced and haven't lost to Male, yet.
  10. Thanks for the info CoachJ. Sounds like a big test for the young cornerbacks of St. X's. Hopefully the same thing that happened last year with the weather doesn't postpone the Bluegrass bowl again there in week 2. That was miserable making the trip from Louisville two days in a row.
  11. Anyone know anything about Bryan Station? That's the week 2 match-up in the Bluegrass Bowl.
  12. Good win for the Tigers!! St. X defeats PRP 2-1 on the Strength of Great Pitching, Timely Hitting | WSTX Sports Watch Dalton, Hayden and Cam talk win over PRP | WSTX Sports
  13. Lots of things are different at Tiger Tech this spring. A lot has been posted on different threads on here, but I will try to summarize it all. Bart Bruner is the new defensive coordinator as Todd Walsh moves to Tight Ends coach and "co-head coach" (whatever that means). I have heard that this means Walsh is in charge of the contact between college coaches and the players. This communication, I understand is usually done by the head coach and was always handled by Mike Glaser until now. Bruner is a huge addition back on to the staff after he took a year off. Don't know how the old school mentality will clash with Wolford's new school mentality just yet. Adam Billings, who was the head coach at Elizabethtown the past 3 seasons, is now the offensive line coach at St. Xavier. There is a new wide receivers coach, I believe, don't know a name yet. Joe Tronzo was hired as the school's strength and conditioning coach. He works out every team at St. X, but of course focuses mostly on the football team. He played for the Tigers back in 2004 when they won a state championship and was on the Louisville Cardinals football team after he graduated. Will Wolford has seemingly removed any responsibility off of his plate. He doesn't have a position to coach, he is not a coordinator, he doesn't run the workouts, he doesn't deal with recruiting primarily and doesn't work in the school. Hopefully just overseeing everything is the tweak he needed to make last year. I should know more once their Spring Practice begins May 6.
  14. It was a lot closer than the score indicated, but the Tigers capitalized off of Trinity's mistakes when they needed to and picked up a big win at this point in the season!
  15. Very cool story out of St. Xavier, where freshman Chase Collins pitched a no-hitter last night against DeSales in the Freshman game. The special twist to this story is that his twin brother, Zac, was behind the plate catching the no-hitter! I am not sure you can find too many stories quite like this one and it is almost one of those things you see on SportsCenter! Awesome stuff from some young Tigers! 16. Yes it is a preferred walk-on spot, with a very high chance of becoming a scholarship in year 2.
  17. BJ Nagle has committed to the University of Memphis. The situation last year was pretty unorthodox, but I think this kid can really play at the next level in the right system! He heads back to Memphis where he came from before transferring to St. X. Congrats BJ! B.J. Nagle commits to Memphis | WSTX Sports
  18. I think this is just something for him to do and have fun with. He has always loved the game it appeared for just the game aspect of it. The game has changed and yes that was one thing that seemed to hold back the last few teams of his. Other teams... Trinity... changed their style and it worked and St. X stayed the same with a different effect. Don't think that Glaser is done with the high school level, but who knows!
  19. Former St. Xavier legendary coach is getting back to the basis after he accepted an assistant coaching spot on the St. Agnes/St. Francis Saints 5th/6th grade football team. He is a long time parishioner at the church and has had hundreds of former players for St. X come from that program. Great thing for the ole ball coach to do and for the school to get him involved! Good luck Coach Glaser! That is going to be one really well conditioned 6th grade football team! Mike Glaser Hired | WSTX Sports
  20. I wouldn't consider my Tigers a favorite this year at all. Male and Trinity will be the ones to beat in 6A
  21. Class of 2014 St. Xavier Kicker Jake Collins committed to Western Kentucky yesterday. Really solid place kicker that had a HUGE senior season. Good luck to Jake as a Hilltopper! Love that this class has put out so many next level players!
  22. Class of 2014 St. Xavier Running Back Treyveon Percell has committed to Lindsey Wilson College. Percell tore his ACL early in the 2013 season for the Tigers. He will have a great career at the next level and I wish him nothing but the best as a Blue Raider!
