Not very well. This has been a part of their game that has been lacking the past couple of years. They did actually pick up a kicker this year and he seemed to have improved from week one. As for returning kicks the Dawgs are very dangerous in this aspect of the game. Rashaad Palmer and James Miller are both threats to take it all the way on any given play. However, the dawgs still have some discipline problems. Field discipline. They make a lot of mental mistakes. They managed to overcome some of those last week but going against the birds will be a different story. If they make those kind of mistakes early in this game they may not be able to load that annoying cannon in Ft. Thomas fast enough. With that being said. My prediction is Birds 45- Dawgs 7

Read the last sentence of my post. PARTICULARLY in the TRENCHES. Yes I agree that Spencer is faster than Hankinson, and that is why they need to use him more as a slash back than a receiver. Theyhad trouble getting him the ball. He needs to be running the ball.

Was Scott still running the spread?

SCOTT needs to look into running other offenses. They stayed in the spread nearly 100% of the time last year. While they have some great skill players they still haven't found out how to use them. I was unable to attend the scrimmage this weekend, but I have been told they are still running the spread. BIG mistake IMHO. They need to find a way to keep the ball in Spencer and Bianchis hands to enable them to take advantage of the speed of Hankinson after setting up the pass with the run. The past couple of years they have really been unable to put points on the board and have burdened the defense by playing the short field. One Big problem I see is that they were heavily ladened with seniors on both sides of the ball last year and that will hinder them some coming into the season. With the exception of the players named in this thread it will be interesting to see if they have anyone else that can step it up. Particularly in the trenches.

not really the right guy. not sure it is respect as much as fear. He intimidates a lot of kids with his style. I know that Holmes O-line would have been a lot better had he not scared off some of the underclassmen.

That would be a real good choice if so. He was D coordinator at Holmes before he went to Ballard.

First, congatulations to Dave. I think that this is a good fit for Dave's style of coaching. Second, to all the nay sayers out there. Do not Judge what the record was at Holmes. Until you have been there coached there, walk a mile in that man's cleats DO NOT CRITICIZE. Trosper's style did not fit s a head coach at Holmes. He will bring a lot more to Conner than most of you think. I coached with and for him at Holmes and if he asked me to come to Conner and help I would be there tomorrow. I don't think there is a harder school to coach at anywhere in NKY Than Holmes. ANY sport. TRUST ME. I for one will be rooting for Trosper's success. I know that he deserves better than what he managed at Holmes. Remember , Judge not the man until you have walked in his mocassins.

Actually I had a chance to talk to the white hat from this game, and after hearing him explain what the rule book says, I believe now they they were good calls with the exception of the punt THAT DID HIT THE DIXIE returner (film shows this) However, if an offensive player hits the return man regardless if he is knocked into him, it is handled as a fair catch situation. He did admit that they missed the block in the back call on that punt. All other calls were legitimate. The punt that went into the endzone and run out was in fact called according to the rules. regardless if a player touches the ball or not, if their is no possession established and the ball crosses the goal line on a punt is then BY RULE a dead ball.
