The difficult schedule shook Ryle's confidence. They havent had a winning season since 2011 and to start off season 1-3 was hard. But then they lost to a bad Shelby County team. Coach Engler has done a fine job at keeping the team focused, despite starting 1-4 and they battled vs. SK. Since that bad loss vs SK, Ryle is 4-1. They have made strides which are difficult to accomplish in a year. Their confidence and expectations are high as they can be and they believe they can beat anyone. The ball bounced the wrong way a few times 3 weeks ago, we'll see if its any different this Friday....if it does bounce Ryle's way, people in Union won't be surprised.

First of all...when you give up 100 yards rushing but only 30 yards passing, thats still not a ton of production by the offense. That game was a defensive battle with poor offense mixed in. Cooper got the most points, end of story...That was months ago, Round 2 of playoffs are all that counts.

Dixie has a ton of confidence going in to playoffs. I hope to see a rematch between them and the Raiders from Union.

I dont think they had much success as 8th graders. The freshman team has had a lot of success, there is no arguing that. There are a million ways to skin a cat and winning is important. Developing players are important as well. Hopefully the Ryle feeder programs, including freshman ball, can find a happy medium. But it doesnt matter too much....Cov Cath wasn't stopping Chisolm.

If thats the case, allow New Cath and Beechwood to play up. It makes no difference. Scott pretty much plays a small school varsity schedule also, outside of district.

Ryle vs whoever..Ryle plays Cov Cath tonight. Ryle hasn't lost yet. If they do win, it will be 3 frosh seasons with combined record of 26-1 or something silly. And before Raiderbird comes back with, "yeah but when they go to varsity they don't do anything..." Ryle renews their rivalry with Highlands next season, we shall see.

I would be embarrassed to be considered a small school....Scott HS, shame on you. Put your big boy pants on.

It's always nice to see your team up there but who could ever take these seriously. Those who have seen teams play, know who the best teams are. I will say this, Ryle may be the best 4-6 team entering playoffs!! :ylsuper:

Trick or treat on Sunday afternoons....HS football is more important than NFL.

You pick and choose when to comment. If you honestly believe Highlands doesn't run up scores, thats fine. You are avoiding the truth....Your birds claim "the best time to work on passing game is with 2's up 7 or more scores". Run the football with the lead...if you score, thats one thing. Don't pass when game is out of hand..

1. Highalands 2. Dixie The rest is murky. The bottom line is, who will advance in post-season. Does Dixie have what it takes to make it beyond the regional finals? Does SK's soph qb get it done in playoffs. Does Beechwood get past mayfield? These are questions that can be answered in the next month. The only thing we know for sure, 1 and 2 is obvious for NKY.

To chyme in....I will duplicate the sentiments of others. Highlands deserves anything that comes to them. Many will agree and disagree but we have all seen the birds run up the score. Some will argue they never did, that their #2's were in, and that you cant teach to take a knee. But what Highlands has done and will do, if they get an opportunity, is make people hate them by being really, really good. Is it their fault they are good, no. But there have been many games, with a running clock, they have the opportunity to win with class yet they choose the alternative... be a hated program across the state. Does this defend a team from kicking an onside kick against them late in game, play starters all game, take a pic of scoreboard, or fake punt in state finals....yes it does!

Dixie will rest everyone and win.

I'm pretty sure they have been above 45 points in every game and several games above 50.

To the main point... A huge win for the Raiders. Lets hope these last few seasons will transition into a win on the varsity level next season, as they take on the Bluebirds for another exciting series.

One to assume an onside kick is taking place is absurd. Have you ever seen a team kick the ball or squib the ball when their kicker wasnt very good? I'm sure it is very common on the frosh level.

Beg to differ...England did not play more than a few snaps vs Ryle. Ryle was also missing a key lineman and their 2nd RB. Ryle's not healthier now because they are still missing a few spots but definitely improved.

Cooper beat Ryle first game of season...His logic is this. Campbell beat Cooper and Cooper beat Ryle so they are both ranked over Ryle. Cooper should be locked in at #7 and most people would not argue.

No disrespect, put them on Ryle and they are not starting offense. Lets be clear...Dixie's success is due to offensive line, qb play, and all around defense.

Everybody talks about Cov Cath missing starters because they complain about it. Ryle was missing starters as well and had guys playing hurt. Dixie is probably the better team but cant compare scores or anything else, just have to play the game.

I believe it only goes off of wins of your opponent if you beat them. Ryle did not beat their tougher opponents. If they had beaten Cooper, they would be likely playing for 1st this Friday
