My understanding is that Scott beat Beechwood during the regular season. Anyone have any comments or insight on this game?

What I was told! Anyone confirm

Yes.

Scott did win the first meeting, can't remember the score, but it was close. Back and forth most of the game.

I tried to find a thread on that game but couldn't locate one.

I only saw the second half of the first game. I think it I was tied or Scott might have been losing by a couple points at half. Scott ends up getting a couple stops late and won by a touchdown or so.

No there will not be a big school championship. This is the last week of Frosh regular season games as well as the last week of Varsity games and rules prohibit Frosh playing past Varsity's regular season.

True, but I think there is still an 8th grade tourney going on, as BG will play Corbin in Lexington on Saturday in what I was told was a State semi-final game for 8th grade. This Corbin team beat this BG team in the final last year. Don't know who plays in the other game.

Freshman

The freshman season is still ongoing with the young Tigers preparing for a championship game versus the Scott Eagles. Beechwood enters the game with two losses - a 4 point loss at Scott and a 5 point loss to Covington Catholic. In the Covington Catholic game, Beechwood had the ball first and goal at the three yard line with less than a minute to go and looked ready to get a win. A bobbled exchange was recovered by the Colonels securing the win for them. The first game between Beechwood and Scott was closely contested and there is no reason to expect anything different in this one. This game is scheduled for Wednesday, October 29 6 pm at Scott High School. Good luck to the Tigers on avenging their loss to Scott and winning the small school freshman championship.

I would be embarrassed to be considered a small school....Scott HS, shame on you. Put your big boy pants on.

I know that discussion has happened on here in the past, but I don't have a problem with Scott playing down. First, they are still building their program and you have to go one step at a time. Second, the small schools that field a freshman team need Scott and others to play down so they can have a small school division. None of the 1A schools have a freshman team. Newport and Lloyd have both had struggles getting numbers for a freshman team over the past few years. Holy Cross cancelled a freshman game or two this year. Beechwood and New Cath can't have their own two team freshman small school division.

If thats the case, allow New Cath and Beechwood to play up. It makes no difference. Scott pretty much plays a small school varsity schedule also, outside of district.
