Player from Oldham County #9 Clayton Wirth or Huerta didnt make it? How do kids get selected? Wirth is Oldham's all time leading scorer, had 40 goals this season against a hard schedule, and made it last year. Congrats to all who made the list!!! Great honor

They could make the regional tournament, but Trimble is much better. A step in the right dircetion though. The gap between south, oldham and north is not that much. The guard for the Mustangs give them the edge I think.

And last year in college basketball EKU beat the Miami Hurricanes @ Miami, and Miami beats Duke the next week, and all Duke did was win the whole thing. None of it matters come post season time. Get it done or go home, no excuses.

HOF fame coach? Really? Come on guys, he is a good coach no doubt, did they ever beat Brossart at Augusta? HOF coaches win regions not just districts, in my opinion, and have proven to be great not good for at least 8-10 years not (3)

You nailed it Clyde! AAU coaches have alot of influence. I am gonna give you what I call the 3 types of AAU coaches. AAU Coach #1-Some of them do it the right way, they work their tails off with kids, and put them first. They don't interfere with what goes on with their high school coaches. They want a kid to get a scholarship to play somewhere and that is great, very few of these AAU coach #2- hopes that they get a player the caliber of Rondo, or this years second pick in the draft, hope that player takes care of them moeny wise, and be come like a guardian. They say they want the best for their kids, send them to a prep school, think that their kid is a NBA player, we know 1 out 1,000,000,000 make it to the league not realistic, kid leaves his friends, community behind following this dream, could have got a scholarship attending and playing at their high school but chose different route AAU coach #3- works with kids, does a good job with that, but has an agenda of watnting to be a head coach at the high school/college level but usually dont have a teaching certificate, so they send kids to schools for coaches hoping that the head coach will put them on staff. So now you have a guy recruiting kids for your program. Alot of these out there more than the other 2. I can name some on this board but it would hurt their precious feelings

Whoa, best coach in region is getting carried away, loaded with good coaches Feldhaus, Hicks, Brown, Chalk, Tommy, Salsman, Hundley, Valentine just to name a few, pretty good list, like Mendenhall too. When you look at Lafayette and the history they have good talent, they were loaded last 2 years. Wide open region with great coaches.

District 4 has been a war all year, if the teams are not worn down I would not want to play any of them. To be honest there are 8 teams that are obviuosly pretty good, I have not watched John Hardin but I know what they usually have and its alway pretty dang good. South Warren, Ashland and Johnson Central must be great at what they do as well, Frankiln, Shelby, and Spencer I have watched and they all 3 are dangerous, I would not over look any of them

I think by the end of the season you will see 4-5 changes on that list when the all region players are announced. A couple will be from teams that have a girl on the list, but others that are potentially better than the ones listed in my opinion. 1. Madison Todd (Shelby) 2. Renfro (Collins) 3. Rogers (Anderson) 4. Gray (Shelby) 5. Howie (Spencer) 6. Bowen (Gallatin) 7. Simpson (Walton) 8. Montgomery (W-town) In no particluar order but some of these girls will be on the all region team in my opinon at the end of the year

He is retired, been a head coach before, and an AD, understands alot more than just basketball. However I dont think he wants to do it more than a year, I am not sure. He is helping them through all of this mess. Oldham County does not have any special hiring circumstances, they want someone in the building/teacher as they should in my opinion. Also in my opinion they are 4-5 years away from being competitive in the region, maybe not the district. Parents and community have to understand that, and the parents have a hard time believing that.

Finding someone this late in the game is not happening for rebuilding and establishing a program, people are in place already for that. If I am an AD it is the best solution. In the spring you can find the right person and move forward, have a good spring/summer/off season and start building relationships. That is really hard to do in October when it is "go time". The have made a good hire for this year, he will do a good job for them and is helping them out. Like I said I hate it for the girls.

I am hearing they are doing a (1) year fix because it is so late in the year, pretty good idea probably moving forward. It gives the administration time to find the right person and establishing a program. They had great teams not to long ago, but soccer/volleyball have really diminshed the basketball programs as of late. It will take alot of work to get them where they need to be basketball wise.

Male is better in my opinion as I have stated, they have a D1 player of their own and she is a true post player, they made the final 4 last year and return everyone

One girl doesnt win you a championship. She is the best player in the state in my opinion. One off game for her/foul trouble and they are out at the state tournament against a good team. Thought she struggled in the game they lost last year, for example.... she is one that I think will have great college career, and will enjoy watching her at the next level. She definitely can play at her normal position of a 3/4.

Yes Hannah was the best Player in the region last year in my opinion, Bosse was a monster for Simon

Agree with you somewhat about Simon, however, Bosse was a beast, got alot done for Simon when no one else did. May have even been best senior in the region last year. I think the jury is out on them until I see them play without her. Neice is a really good and transfers help. Saw their JV a couple times last year, lost to Shelby, and beat Walton but it was close so their younger talent is good but so are others. I think Anderson, Walton, and Shelby can beat Simon, Shelby has size and very athletic, while Anderson can really shoot it and get after you. Regional semi-final vs Shelby was a great game, Shelby loses 5 seniors that only scored 8 points in that game, and they host the region. 1. Simon 2. Shelby 3. Walton 4. Trimble 5. Anderson 6. Williamstown 7. Collins 8. Gallatin 9.North Oldham (dark horse) actually to make it out this year for once 10. Spencer (young but getting better)

I know alot of people are high on Waggener, they do return alot, had a very average season last year in my opinion with that talent. I'm going with the 3 coaches that have had championship state tournament game experience 1. Bibby 2. Renner 3. Henley

That same Male team graduated very little that is why I had them at #1, that was an awesome game.. Also you had Mercer vs. E-town, Male vs Mercy, all first round games,

They also dont have to worry about Title IX, I was at a school where a donor offered to purchase all of the boys basketball equipment, jerseys etc, and could not unless they bought the same for the girls team.

Didnt say that they were not a good team, just not a top 10 team in my opinion. But if you look at my list, some of the top 10 are in the same region. They had a good showing at the state tourney, and are fun to watch. Just because you make the final 4 doesnt mean you are a top 10 team in the state, just ask Highlands, Holmes, Henry Clay, Bullitt East, Murray, Shelby, Southwestern last year to name a few, they were all good teams just didnt make it to the state tourney. Last years state tourney was a horrible draw for the better teams.

Mason is a good team, BUT they got a great draw to make the Final 4 in my opinion, if they draw the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 11th, 12th, 4th, 1st, 2nd, last year they would of been out first game. I love their hire, he will do a great job. I think Campbell, Scott, Mason could be a war in that region this year. If Mason had (1) big inside to go along with their guards they could of cracked my top 10 list as it was they were one of the teams I mentioned as a sleeper

I totally agree, they will be in the hunt at the end of the year, there is 4-5 teams that can win the 8th region this year, the draw and district tourneys are very important. Winning regions are hard folks, it takes some luck, some good players and some good coaching.
