Highlands 52 Cooper 42
Reading this thread reminds me of my thoughts of Highland fans (a majority of them). I can't tell if it's the kids or the parents on here whining about some petty stuff even after a win. I honestly don't believe Cooper is out of shape. From I was told by several players they conditioned quite often both on campus and at a training facility back to back on some days. I believe most teams that can't platoon or have limited subs are going to wear down against a no huddle platooning team.

6A #1 Trinity at Ensworth (TN) Predictions
Maryville Tn scrimmaged Ensworth a few weeks ago and I thought they were a solid team with some very good skilled players. Just didn't have a lot of numbers for backup. The CB going to UofL is a lock down corner who has nice height, he's physical and can open up and recover out of the back peddle really well.

NKY Preseason Top 10
I think they are every year, and Cooper takes that chip and quiets the crowd.

Dillon Powell Tweets - I'm coming home, NKY
That 7% is not a very good denominator because it fails to show the NFL player who started out Juco, DII, DII and later worked up to DI level for the last 1 or years of their college career before entering the NFL. The percentages are very low though. I wouldn't count Dillon out of football just yet. He's still young man and maybe he just needs a break for a while. If that's not the case, it was great watching him in high school and I wish him the best as he continues whatever is ahead of him.

Cooper vs Boone County Scrimmage
Just a little unknown information for you. Last year Boone had a very good sprint relay team with some young talent that do play football, and a big contender in the field events that plays football. Correct me if I am wrong, but no one from Coopers starting OLine/ DLine participated in track last year, nor did the qb, backup qb/running back or any of the starting receiving crew. So, I believe the Boone kids are trying to do the little extras. Sometimes, you just don't have enough to match up when it comes to 11 man football were subs are needed to sustain 4 quarters.

Cooper vs Boone County Scrimmage
Do you honestly think that everyone at Cooper buys in, runs track, spends countless hours in the weight room? No, they do not. You work with what you have. It's ok to judge your own little Johnnys effort and commitment, but not a teenager you know nothing about. JMO

Cooper vs Boone County Scrimmage
That shows how much you know about the game of football. When you're outmatched talent wise, it is what it is. The Rebels are getting decent coaching, if you watched the scrimmage, they did manage to force Cooper into a few punts with defensive stops, they did pressure the qb, they did break up some pass attempts, they did make some nice hard tackles, so they are coached pretty darn good from what I see. The fact that they were unable to get to the end zone is not all that surprising. It's a Cooper defense that is stingy against even some of NKY's top teams. I really have no respect for grown men that hide behind a keyboard and bad mouth the kids. Say what you want about the coaching staff, but it's the teenage boys that are stepping out onto that field and fighting as best they can. No kid on either team, but I support all kids that give it their best, winning seasons or not. Some people just need to grow up or man up and speak that noise publicly (I know a few Boone parents that would love to hear that said to them personally).

Bluegrasspreps' 2016 Class 6A Pre-Season Preview
I agree totally. Coach Buckett must be from somewhere deep down South in a corner in order to miss this kid as a top player to watch.

Cooper's Sean McNeil Picks Up Offer
Honestly, how many games did you see him in? He may not have sank every jump shot he took, but there's so much more to his game and the game itself than jump shot shooting percentages. I'm pretty sure the DI schools that are interested have seen him (and his jump shot) on the AAU circuit, which in my opinion is much more competitive that HS ball.

Cooper's Byron Brown transferring to Tennessee
Haha Clyde. Yep, he found that out real quick. They said to say it like you have a mouth full of marbles! (But that just doesn't sound proper! lol) He's fitting in well already and really enjoying being a part of that program.

Cooper's Byron Brown transferring to Tennessee
Cooper Jags wide receiver Byron Brown has officially transferred to Maryville Tennessee and now playing with the Maryville Rebels. It's been a great experience for him in the Boone County system and he will miss competing alongside the young men he grew up playing with, but also looks forward to a great opportunity in Maryville. Look for this kid to do some really good things for the Rebels program. We will keep in touch with our NKY Family. :thumb:

Good points to why some kids leave certain programs
Not trying to point a finger, just speaking from thoughts. Didn't mean any harm. Started it just to get comments on what members thought about the article itself. Don't overthink the thread. As I said, not pointing fingers. The article is about coaching as a whole and if anyone as a coach falls into the 5 categories, then yes, they fall into that percentage that may need to do something else. Just like any job, if you don't like what you're getting paid, then leave. I don't care if's 7 cents an hour or 70 dollars an hour, You coach football because you love it not for the pay. If you're coaching for pay, you probably fall into the 5 examples. By the way, what's wrong with a scholarship to Campbellsville? And who are you pointing the finger at with that comment? You can PM me that one.

To clear that up, the kids are not drinking or serving alcohol. Just alcohol is served at the venue itself. (Paul Brown stadium and Bearcats events are excluded)

Good points to why some kids leave certain programs
The "code of conduct" leaves no wiggle room and is a great form of accountability as long as the coach enforces it equally upon each player. I've known a program to have good policies about alcohol involvement even to the point where any fund raising events can not involve alcohol or take place in venues that serve alcohol. But at the coaches behind the door coach staff meetings, Friday night after game celebrations, and on the road coaching clinics, the coaches consume a great deal of alcohol. To me that's hypocritical. Over time i've learned as a coach, don't set the example if you can't be the example.

Good points to why some kids leave certain programs
With that statement and percentage, you would have to define what "doing the best they can and working hard for kids" is or means. Or possibly give us your 5 + bullets on your statement. Doing the best you can as a coach is fine and dandy, but if a coach is simply not qualified or lack coach/player communication skills and parents notice it, you can't blame the parents for speaking up to the administration to get something better for their kid as well as the program as a whole. Most kids at the high school level are going to enjoy the experience as long as the coach coaches to the kid as an equal and not as a product of a disgruntled parent. As a coach, I do agree that parents can be a real pain at times, but having a thick skin and remembering that the players are my main focus pushes me through it.

BG Purples just got better...
I like your enthusiasm and well noted that BG will be stacked next year. Placing Kenner (who I know nothing about..just a question) as "Kenner on opposite side who is probably number 1 receiver in the state" is a stretch when he wasn't even in the top 15 or 20 statistically last year. BG being able to spread the ball around will carry them very far this coming year. I'm no linger part of Kentucky football, but I know one or two receivers in the NKY area that will push for top performing numbers again next year.

College FB Camp Attendance Overrated? Urban thinks so.
Not completely true. Some parents don't have a clue about their kids talent level or potential. Some kids can go as rising sophs and juniors and be on the cusps of DI level. The main advantage is if smaller DII, DII coaches attend. We sent a rising junior to Louisville, UC and Furman and within a few weeks, we are getting contact and interest from DII, and DI-AA schools. And we don't see him as a DI level player yet because he is still sort of young and fresh to Varsity level high school ball. I would never keep a kid from a camp whether it be DIII or DI. It's like saying you don't want them to try or learn from experiences. There is a difference between going to a DI camp to get work in and going to camp to expect a scholarship offer right away (which is unrealistic even for top notch players).

College FB Camp Attendance Overrated? Urban thinks so.
“I have parents ask all the time, ‘Should I send him to that camp?’ Sure, if you have 80 bucks to blow, go ahead,” Meyer said. “Here’s where you start: Go make your high school coach so proud of you that he’s going to tell the college coach, ‘Take him.’ How cool is that? It’s real simple. Don’t complicate things. I like this comment from the article, but what if you have a HS Coach that has the communication skills of a 2 ton rock, Or lacks the effort/time to aggressively contact coaches on behalf of the student athletes? That's how some very good athletes get missed over and must attend camps just to promote themselves. Also I don't consider it blowing 80 bucks. If you're running a football camp and not and audition stage, you should also be teaching skills that benefit the athletes.

Thanks for that info....I should have fully read the article before replying.
