I stand by my statement. There's no coach that can constantly ride a ref, because they then would not be able to coach their team. If a ref needs a wake-up bug put in his ear, I have no problem with coaches delivering it. As for setting examples, a coach must let players know that he as the coach has the authority to speak to the refs, not the players. Todd Downs has been around this game long enough to know when he needs to lay into a ref. Some of these refs are just too weak to hear it. When young players step into roles as coaches, they can choose for themselves how to approach officials and how often, and I bet their approach will come from their passion, knowledge and love of the game; NOT from inheritance from a previous coach. What's the benefits of a quiet passive coach compared to an outspoken coach that will make a young player a better person/athlete?

Cmon Walter. Did you not just post something about the Moss kid about his transfer, and the information came from an 8th grade AAU teammate of Moss? You're a great person and Northern Kentucky fan, but when it comes to Holmes you tend to lose your reporting credibility because of your loyalty to that program. The reason Kel is transferring is no mystery.

Probably because this shouldn't even be an issue. Mr.Raleigh knows that staff pretty well and has had to hear it from this certain family previously. The family just needs to face the fact that their lucky to be a part of the program after the way they have attacked this staff before. Like someone said in a previous post, 'this isn't rec ball". Todd Downs is one of the best coaches in this area whether people like him or not. He can get more out of a kid than most because he loves doing what he does. He's not going to sugar coat it and hold your hand, but he won't give up on a kid either. Someone commented about his in-gym behavior. Show me a coach that doesn't ride the refs. That's a coach that either doesn't know the game, care about the game or care about standing up for his team. I don't believe there is a parent/coaching issue at Boone, just one unhappy family that has a little power because of her position in the school system trying to make some noise. The BOE will probably laugh them out of the office.

Amen!! Mr.Sixer.. Parents need to get off their lazy tails, and begin to encourage,train and expose their kids themselves. If you think NCSA is expensive, try paying for four years of college. NCSA is worth the investment if your kid is putting in the work.

Yes, I know it's possible that he will be able to play, I was just trying to see if anyone knew for sure. He's going to be fun to watch over the next two years.

I heard Bolden is a 17 year old sophomore. if that is true, will he still make eligibility his senior year? The kid has a very nice outside jump shot.

C'mon Walter. You have got to release the grip on Holmes a bit. I'm one to admit that NCC is one of the better shooting teams in the 9th. And yes that means better than Holmes, Cooper, CCH and Dixie shooting the ball as a team. Does that make them better than Holmes? Not necessarily, just a better percentage shooting team. Statistically Cooper shot better from the field in the final game of the region. I'm just saying.

REALLY! It's not a gift! It' the rule of the game. No matter of the clock time, the game still has to be called according to the "rules"; if you're doing your job as a ref.

This kid has a very nice game! What i like about him most, is that he seems to play the game without all the "mouth" that I have viewed from some of the great Holmes players in the past. Great game and a humble mind. This kid will go somewhere!

Cmon Man! Player gets a steal, makes the move for a breakaway and a player "INTENTIONALLY" grabs his ankle to prevent him from advancing. This is an intentional flagrant foul. Had the player fallen and been injured, would you still not call it? It is what is!
