Score?

Well, HHS fans can still get home to watch the 2nd half of the Bengals game.
-
So the only thing I wanted is the Bengal curse to skip us this year. Now it looks like something is wrong with John Ross. Flanked by trainers coming out of the locker room. When he was drafted, being injury prone was a knock on him. Hope this isn't serious and it's just precautionary but with the Bengals luck with 1st and 2nd rounders getting hurt before the season starts, well I'm not holding my breath.

Well since my kid will be playing Sat in their season opener I will have to go College this Saturday.

I think I just heard the bubble bursting.

A timeline of Vontaze Burfict's dirty play
Hellbird replied to Jim Schue's topic in National Football League (NFL)
I was watching the clips and saw all up to the ASU one where the flag was picked up. Sorry but just don't see it as bad as you do. You have to go back to HS to find one play where he was diving at the qb? Really and one play in college? If you're going to have video of the history of cheap shots, then show one. I was expecting Mike Mitchell type of dirty plays. I was dissapointed. -

6A is really weak in NKY this year. Doesn't really matter who comes out of NKY this year. Just like most every year you can't beat a school with 3 times the student body and gets them from all over. SK enjoy your run this year but unfortunately it will end the same as it always does. -

You missed the entire point. The point is it's part of the game unless it's a dirty play and neither was. -

Gave up my season tickets after 30+ years and haven't looked back. If you can get past the bad announcers, it is well worth the money you save for a much better viewing. Don't have to deal with the foul language and drunks. Mich better football environment is at home on my couch. -
Congrats to Coopers own Lexi Held!!!! She has just commited to DePaul University.

Let's just make it a lifetime ban. Coming from a Steelers fan makes it even funnier. -

Actually you're wrong. I wouldn't be calling for the head of whoever hit Hill or Gio like that for running across the middle. My son plays in college up near Cleveland and his freshman year got his bell rung running across the middle. Neither one of us called for the defenders head as everyone knows the risk when you go across the middle. With that said, what Burfict did was pretty tame compared to what could have happened. -
I feel for Ryle in this one. This won't end well.

If it's a new rule, fine. I can live with a fine. But 5 games? So I am expecting anytime this rule is broken this year it should at least be 1 game suspension for anyone other than Burfict. If you are giving Burfict 5 games for a new rule violation which again wasn't a dirty hit nor leading with head etc. then any other player who hits any receiver who isn't looking at him should be at least 1 game suspension period. Good thing Hines Ward isn't still playing. He'd be gone for an entire season. -

I don't know. Can he decapitate him? How bout clothes line him, or even rip his head around by the face mask. Seeing how none of them happened, why are you making things up? -

Again, what was illegal about it? He was within 5 yards and it wasn't helmet to helmet and he didn't lead with the crown of his helmet. He hit him with his shoulder. -

Then if you are the NFL and want to keep an eye on his play then you watch the film and you fine and suspend him for any illegal hit he makes. Do that, I won't have a problem with it at all and I doubt many would have a problem with it. But you don't suspend and fine a player that you are monitoring for playing within the rules and isn't making an illegal hit. You just don't do that. For anyone who thinks that was an illegal hit or a defenseless player then they need to read the rules because they have no clue what they are talking about. If that was a defenseless player then I suggest every single running back after getting a handoff should turn around and run backwards because apparently you aren't allowed to hit them because they would then be "A defenseless player" because they can't see the defenders about to hit them. For all those saying it was bush league or illegal hit, I'd love for them to show me in the rules where a receiver isn't allowed to be touched 2 yards off the line of scrimmage. -

So I would like for you and Deuce to call out every defensive player this year that touches a receiver that is coming across the middle that doesn't get the ball. Lets see how many times the NFL suspends any player other than Burfict for hitting a player coming across the middle especially when they are in the 5 yard zone where it is legal to hit a player. I'm willing to bet that it doesn't happen this season unless it is head to head hit or targeting. Which Burfict's hit was neither. -

Because the only reason he's being suspended is exactly what we all said, it's because it is Burfict. There was nothing wrong with the hit at all. He didn't target, he didn't lower his head into him, he didn't evenmake it a head shot, he put his shoulder into the FB who was running at him. Any other player in the NFL and it wouldn't have even been mentioned.
