  1. UC has picked up 3 1st downs and have it at the Card 31 yard line.. The Tornados are getting good work from there 220 lb FB, Trey Jones..
  2. UC will have it 1st and 10 at there own 31 yard line..
  3. Touchdown Mayfield with 5.25 left in 1st quarter.. Stinson to Murrell for a 34 yard TD pass.. PAT no good... 6-0 Cards..
  4. On UCs 2nd play, the Cards get the ball right back after a fumble..
  5. On Mayfield's 3rd play from scrimmage, Union City gets an int. and takes over at there own 40 yard line..
  6. Union City gets 1 first down, but, the Cards stiffen and forces a punt.. Mayfield gets the ball right at midfield to start there 1st drive..
  7. After a good return by the Tornados, they get called for an illegal black and will start at there own 16 yard line..
  8. Union City will get the ball 1st to start the game.
  9. Of course 6a has more talented teams and more depth. It would be foolish to say teams with a boys pool of 200-300 kids would be better than ones with 700 plus.. IMO, what makes a class great is the competitive balance.. in 6a, 5a and 4a, there's 1 dominant team that if they lose, would be shocking.. In 3a and 2a, there are numerous teams with equal talent that make it much more exciting, therefore the best classes to follow.. Much more interesting, for sure..
  10. 6A has 1 team that is head and shoulders above the rest.. Yes, they have some other really good teams, but, Trinity is on a level of their own, so, I can't see 6a being the best.. 5A has Bowling Green head and shoulders above the rest.. Again, like 6a, a dominant top team hurts the class overall on being considered the best.. 4A has Johnson and everyone else.. See 5a and 6a.. 3A is a nice, competitive class this year.. Belfry's been dominant the past 4-5 years, but, this year, I could see Central, Corbin, Belfry, ETown, Boyle and Lex Catholic all with a good shot.. The only thing, IMO, keeping 3a from being better than 2A is a few of those teams have some question marks and may well be as good as being hyped or could be just average to above average.. 1A has Beechwood , Hazard and Paintsville and anyone else who would win it would be a big stretch and major upset.. 2A has 6 teams that come into the season with legit state title asperations and if any of those 6 won it, I don't think too many people would be surprised.. You could also throw 3 or 4 other teams in there that'd be capable of knocking anyone off on a given night.. For these reasons, I think 2A is by far the most complete and competitive class in the state this year..
  11. Most likely, they,ll move to 2a in the next alignment.. it's possible, Pikeville could move up and Caldwell Co could move down also.. If those 3 things happen, 2a really will be loaded, even more so than they are now.. it also looks like NCC could move down to 1a..
  12. I was recently looking at the latest enrollment reports and it looks to me like Beechwood and possibly even Pikeville may well move up to an already loaded 2a in the next realignment.. As strong as these 2 are, It got me to thinking, where would these teams stack up in 2a if the realignment had taken place this year.. I know it's irrelevant at this point, but, out of curiosity and just for good conversation, would like to hear what everyone's opinion would be..
  13. I wouldn't count Pikeville out.. IMO, they were the best team in 1a last year, but, ran into a hot Hazard team late in the season and got upset.. They lost a little more than Hazard and Beechwood did, but, they also tend to reload every year and with all the blowout wins they had last year, had the opportunity to play there underclassmen quite a bit.. That should make for an easier transition than some may think with the new faces..
  14. Mayfield at Union City, Tn... Both teams are 2a powers in there respective states, squaring off in week 1.. State pride on the line.. I don't know how anyone couldn't put this one on there list..
  15. I'd have Mayfield at #2, maybe #3, behind CAL and pretty even with Desales.. I'd also have OB Catholic right behind those 3 at #4.. The Aces could very well represent the west this year.. I think LCA and Danville are also very good teams and wouldn't be far behind these others.. NCC and Somerset are solid at 7 & 8 and it wouldn't matter much which one you listed 1st.. I look for Murray to have a bounce back season this year and be somewhere in the bottom of the Top 10 along with Walton Verona.. The Tigers were extremely young last year and have a lot of experience returning..
  16. Did the Cards scrimmage Madisonville Friday? If so, how'd they do, for anyone that may have went?
  17. Don't let him fool you.. I've heard just the opposite.. They return 19 starters from last years team that went 11-2 and it's only 2 losses to eventual state champion Dresden, who was absolutely loaded last year.. They'll be very formidable..
  18. The non district schedule this year is going to be extremely tough, all 7 games: Union City, Tn. - Most likely the #1 2a team in Tn., at least Top 3.. Corbin - Top 5 3a team, at worse. Could easily make a case for #1 or #2.. Hop'Town - Most likely a Top 5 4a team, possibly higher.. McCracken Co - Solid 6A team, borderline Top 10, may be closer to Top 15 this year.. Caldwell Co. - Always tough 3a team, likely in the 6-7 range this year.. Graves Co. - Better than average 5a team and always tough County rival.. Tilghman - Big rival, always tough 3a team, albeit, down a bit from past PT teams..
  19. I'm hearing the 3 Graves transfers, the transfer kid from St Louis and the one from Florida are all looking great.. The 2 others from Alabama and Maryland are excellent athletes but still young and it may be a year or so before they're ready to have a breakout season.. :sarcastic:
  20. I think Greenwood is going to be in future conversations with BG, CC and Oboro, maybe even SW on occasion.
  21. I think OB Cath. will be the team to beat in Region 1.. Mayfield loses a lot, but, will still be a tough out, especially with home field advantage, but, I think the Aces may have a little more overall talent returning..
  22. I don't see BGreen blowing out Graves Co.. The Eagles have been playing very well the last month or so.. Not sure they have enough to beat the Purples, but, I do think they'll be much more competitive than given credit for.. Their 7' footer could cause some problems..
  23. With your definition, I would think Allen Cox would be worth a call.. He certainly runs the program his way and will play the players that gives him the best chance to win.. I know when he replaced Dan Haley at Tilghman, the team took an automatic upswing. They played the best of the best and didn't dodge anyone and those Cox teams at Tilghman in the 80s and 90s were a handful for anyone..
  24. Now I know why there's such HC turnover in Ky.. I'm surprised any decent HC would stay and coach in Ky when other states offer so much more. Most of these guys have families to think about, so, money is huge factor..
  25. Commits to Murray State... Congrats on a well deserved scholarship !!! Looking forward to watching him play on Saturday's..
