I love having a true powerback. Zack gets hit and keeps churning. With the big, experienced O-Line next year, HHS should have the ground and pound covered.

I read these threads about super divisions and guys complaining about being bored. It appears the underlying theme is people begrudge the good teams their success. I bet all the best teams have one thing in common: they just work harder. I bet these programs are just like Highlands. They condition starting in Jan. and don't stop until the first of December. That's the magic formula. If your kids are willing to give up eleven months a year for four years, they too can win a lot of football games. Success isn't cheap.

It was 8-7. Missed an 18 yard fg. The ball was spotted one foot from the goal line with 42 seconds left. Remember it like it was yesterday. But we made them pay the next year at their place.

Recently HHS fared better than CovCath in golf, baseball, and cross country. Maybe its not just football.

HHS first team JV put points on Ryle at will. The second team HHS JV team moved the ball well but stalled close to the goal line. Ryle struggled to move the ball. Ryle had a very few first downs against the HHS first team D. Second team O and D played the entire second half for HHS. A lot of freshmen in the second half.

Beechwood by two scores. The tigers defense will shut down England. Beechwood's D gets to the ball in mass and come angry. I was impressed when they played Highlands by an apparent sense of pride to get as many people as possible to the football. Beechwood 28-14.

I am a little confused about the discussion about how good Beechwood would be without their star running back. This is not the first discussion this season about this issue. Do you expect him to disappear? No one ever mentions how the team would be if Fieger or Bankamper didn't play. He is a great player and the best player in NKY. He makes every aspect of the team better: running, passing, and defense. However, I don't understand the discussions about how the team would fare without him.

Beechwood will have no problem with Ryle. Beechwood has the combination of defensive speed and defensive agression that every other team in NKY lacks. If they shut down #7, and they will, the game is over. I predict Beechwood's starters will be resting comfortably in the fourth quarter.

Congratulations to the Tigers. Beechwood has the superior team in NKY.

What can you say about a 66-22 blowout that was over in the first quarter? If you give a box score, it just seems like poor sportsmanship.

Highlands and Boone play Thursday at 6:00 pm at Boone County. This is Highlands' last regularly scheduled game of the year. Highlands has 5 wins (Lex Cath, Dixie, NewCath, Campbell Co., and CovCath) and 3 losses (Trinity, Beechwood, and Ryle). Anyone know about Boone?

Who wins and why?

I recall a Beechwood freshman team that beat Highlands soundly in 2008. How many state titles did that group of kids win?

I wouldn't worry about it. Beechwood swarms to the ball and gang tackles. Beechwood is the best tackling team in NKY. Key on Ryle's back and it's over.

I guess I am one of the guys who don't know football. CovCath will beat Beechwood because???? Is it because they lost to Campbell and HHS? Or is it how they tied Cooper? Or is it how they Beat Dixie in OT by a point? I'm not seeing any reason why CovCath beats Beechwood? I will be conservative and say that Beechwood beats CovCath by two touchdowns.

There is no way CovCath beats Beechwood this year. No team in NKY is beating Beechwood. I am looking forward to the Ryle/Beechwood game. I can't see England running on Beechwood the way he did against HHS.

England was a one man wrecking crew. Had multiple long TD runs on sweeps. Once he got going HHS just couldn't bring him down. England would run the ball three times for no gain then rip off a long one. Highlands led most of the game, but in the end they couldn't consistently tackle England. Everybody in the stadium knew what Ryle was going to do but HHS just couldn't consistently stop him.

Just watched Collin England highlights on Youtube. He is extremely good. Birds need to get him in the backfield before he gets started and get everybody to the ball if they want to stop him. He is big and fast. If the birds don't get penetration at the line of scrimmage, it could be a long day. Their O-line also looked pretty good against Cooper and Boone. This will be a great test of team toughness.

This is a must win for both teams if they want to have a chance to play in the championship. Both run the ball well. Highlands' passing game is improving. Both offenses will put up some points. I expect a win for Highlands 28 - 21.

By saying it is not good news, are you implying this loss will make Ryle more hungry to beat HHS?

I really wanted to go to this game tonight but could not. It is potentially good news for HHS that Ryle lost. However, HHS still needs to beat Ryle next week to be able to play Beechwood in the championship. Despite Beechwood being the best team in NKY, the best team doesn't always win. Another crack at the Tigers would be nice.

Every game for HHS is critical at this point to stay alive. The Ryle game should be a good one.

Kendall had a few nice runs for short to moderate gains. When he ran wide, CC did a nice job stringing it out and stopping him for no gain. Having him back takes a lot of pressure off Daughtery. Daughtery is a workhorse. He just doesn't quit on his runs and when he breaks out, he is hard to catch. He outran the defense tonight once he was in the defensive backfield. Robinson was a force on defense. That kid can play! Mitchell Cain deserves a big pat on the back. He showed up big tonight with 2 TD catches. On the second TD catch, he went up with a defender on him. The ball was tipped up and he stayed with it. Great job Mitch.
