I thought highlands was going to fill in.

Coach Coffey at Highlands from day one said if you want to be the best you have to play the best and he was going to play anybody that would answer his call! He has always scheduled tough teams from outside the 9th & 10th region and they took some pretty tough beatings in Ohio and Indiana not to mention some tough lessons down In Kentucky. I believe the only way you get better in any sport is playing better competition to challenge your team! I stick by my comment about some coaches schedule for a good banquet and some schedule to get there team ready for post season! What does regular season record mean if you don't challenge your team and get them ready for end of year tournament. It's exactly why college coaches don't look at high school stats not only are the stats often home cooked but they are often padded with unbalanced schedules! As far as the NKAC recognition goes we will have to save that discussion for when those teams are announced. We will see if the 1st half stats or previous experience alone get names on the list again this year or if the top talent and best players in Northern Kentucky gets the deserved recognition! If you want to be the best you have to be willing to play the best!

I received a text asking me what I meant by pencil stats. Guess I made that term up sorry! What I meant is some teams schedule to have a great banquet at the end of the year by being able to say they won 25 games and had 5 kids hit .500 our pitcher had 2 no hitters etc..., while other teams schedule to push there teams limits to see what they need to do to compete for championships! Which effects those stats! As far as selection of NKAC teams goes and how these "pencil" stats help coaches choose these teams does not reward the teams or players that do not dodge the better teams when they come knocking! If you are playing the top teams across the state early and the girls stats are not as padded as if they played a easier schedule. When the coaches that vote look they see the stats not who the stats were against! It's not just hitters it's pitchers and defensive stats that are effected! You better believe the spencer girl and the defense behind her has faced some of the best hitters and fastest girls in the state! Just my opinion didn't mean to create or misuse the term pencil stat! It is always a great thing to see the girls get recognition!

Nice Win! More important than the win Its good to see the lady birds are pushing themselves against all comers by traveling around the state. I am sure it doesn't help with the pencil stats when it comes to the coaches choosing the all NKAC teams, but it will show in game experience when it's counts at tournament time!

You fell into that trap way too easy! I thought the camels played good enough to win just need to figure out how to get over the hump.

Why did you say nothing but chirps? I heard she pitched 3 innings and did a good job vs a lineup full of big hitters.

I have recieved my exemption as a UK fan to root for U of L fastpitch since Shelby will be a Cardinal! LOL. Congrats!!! Hard work and determination pays off!

I have heard a parent say my daughter doesn't want to wear one, but I wish the state or coach would mandate it! The state should not have to legislate it! It should not be left up to the coach! It simply should be a decision between the parent and the child! IMO the Corners and Pitcher should wear a mask. Why not?

Congrats to all the young ladies! Some great Names on this list: Congrats to all! Haylee Smith and Elizabeth Sims have been great players in the 9th region for a long time! Special congrats to Shelby one of my all time favorites! Much deserved as I have watched this young lady work on her game year around for several years and believe me she works hard at it!

The biggest problem with high school stats is level of competition. A kid may have hit .500 or threw 4 no hitters but who did they do it against? Did they go 4 for 4 vs there biggest regional rival or did they throw a no hitter vs a small school struggling to field a team? IMO there are coaches that schedule for a great end of year banquet and there are coaches who schedule to get ready for a run at the championship. IMO this is same reason college coaches do not pay attention to high school stats compared to playing tournaments in travel ball where they are familiar with level of competition.

Somebody said the 14th Region is where those umpires were from that took the walk off home run away from the girl from Johnson Central vs Ashland last year at the state tournament? Sad thing is the lady got it right and the third base umpire overruled her and the home plate umpire allowwed it to happen.

They could of floated a canoe down first base line. Class 2 Rapids! Not saying the canoe would of floated with me in it.

Was the umpires that blew the Johnson Central HR that call in state tournament from the 14th Region?
