Birds drop an ugly one to the visiting Jaguars. Mustering only 4 hits and commiting 5 errors is not the support Bailey Spencer was hoping for. Spencer had 6Ks against 1 walk and two HBPs. The Birds lone run came after Haley Coffey beat out a grounder to SS and two batters later, Brennah Dutcher took one off the center field fence for a double scoring Coffey.

 

EJ knotted it up in the second on a couple hits at 1-1.

 

Barth singled in the top of the third and was sac over by M Coffey but two Ks killed the threat.

 

The top of the third had the wheels fall off for the Bird defenders. EJ scored six on 4 hits, a hbp and 3 errors.

 

EJ picked up one in the 4th and one in the 7th to end the scoring.

The EJ pitching looked a little overwhelming for some of the younger birds but I think they will be fine once they start playing the 9th region teams. Without the mishaps today I think it would be a 6-1 ball game at worst case. Dust it off and get the next one.

You are a wiseman! (I didn't say old!) Hhs will fix those blunders and I know they will hit better! EJ's pitcher had us fooled all day. They are a very nice team and a class program. Would play them a hundred times a year if we could.

East Jessemine pitcher had a NASTY curve that had the Birds in a funk, but they were making some contact. Dutcher's drive was a shot, I thought it was going to clear the fence when it left the bat.

 

The Birds miscues are easily fixable, and come seasons end they will be in the thick of things.

The pulled pork sandwich hit the spot, fries not has crispy as I like, but the chocolate malt was perfect! Although @Coach B ate @BigGreenHorse's portion. LOL
