  1. Weather cooperated nicely! I am sure many of the Juniors and Seniors wish they could of rescheduled it for the Following Wednesday, because so many girls play summer travel ball and many of the tournaments start on Friday Evenings. Meat puppy said it best when he said its good to see so many different uniforms on the field together. My DD had a great time meeting the girls from the other teams! She was amazed how nice they were! LOL! It's funny how for years when you compete against someone you develop a competitive impression of that person, and almost surprised when you meet them in person and they are different than you though even a lot like you! NICE EVENT! WELL DONE!
  2. That was nice of you to invite all the BGPers to the graduation party after the all star games!
  3. Tour Elizabethtown > Elizabethtown Sports Park this is a link to complex in Etown. Actually found it on an old thread on BGP
  4. After all this discussion and outrage! Will anything be done? Will the state tournament be on a field that has been rigged to accommodate Fast Pitch Softball again next year and again the year after that? Unless someone comes up with a solution unfortunately that answer is YES! Its hard to believe that in todays world of equality thanks to title XI that the KHSAA sends such a mixed message by compromising their own standards by hosting the Girls Fast Pitch STATE CHAMPIONSHIP on a slow pitch softball field that has been rigged to accommodate a sanctioned High School sport. Its one thing to have the dirt infield extend into where the outfielders normally play, but to put up temporary fencing that is inadequate and could be dangerous not to mention unreliable for the umpires to make correct calls is totally unacceptable! What can be done? Would it help to put together a petition? Or Bombard the KHSAA with emails? What will it take to get the KHSAA attention to get the girls equal playing fields? They're is 4 field fast pitch complex's in the state right?
  5. I can't even imagine how those young ladies from Johnson Central must have felt after that game. Especially that young lady that would of had that memory for the rest of her life! Whether they won or lost in the next game to have a walk off home run vs the #1 pitcher in the state with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th in an elimination game at the state tournament. What a great story for generations it would of been! Almost all the discussion has been on the umpires and yes I would love to of heard that discussion! Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done except hope you never get one of those guys as an umpire. There has been some discussion about the real problem and that is the playing conditions! Obviously the temporary fencing is the problem that occurred in the Johnson Central vs Ashland Game. Somebody mentioned the old timers have dealt with this for years. I am a first timer and hopefully not a last timer because the excitement and energy level in a tournament environment is awesome! If it has been going on for years has anybody tried to change it? The fact the state championship has the girls playing on a surface not designed for the game of Fast Pitch is BULL! The dirt infield extending out to 115-120 feet is dumb since they normally play on much smaller infields! A temporary fence for a homerun fence is a joke! Most high schools try to avoid both of these things on there home fields! Unfortunately we had temporary fencing at our home field for years. Hard Hit Balls would go right through it. I have seen girls run through it and the tubing break and create jagged edges that if fallen upon would of been bad. For the KHSAA to host the state championship tournament and play on fields that are rigged to accommodate the game is something that should remind everyone why Title XI exists. Who thinks it's ok to put the girls on these fields? What could the thought process be: -we can make more money? -The school year is over they will forget about it by next year? -My uncle owns this place in Owensboro! Whatever the reason it is a slap in the face of the girls that dedicate so much time and energy to a game just like other sports.
  6. I would like to hear what the umpires explanation was to Johnson Centrals coach. Which umpire was so sure he saw it bounce over the fence
  7. She is a very good pitcher! Anybody know what her stats were in the state tourney? Thursday she went like 10 innings we heard she threw like 180 some pitches I thought I heard 18 strikeouts. Friday vs Johnson Central I think she fired a 1 hitter which was ruled a double rather than the walk off loss but in the book it is a 1 hitter. Friday vs Highlands she fired a 1 hitter and dominated! I thought I heard she had another great game going but lost on a walk off homerun.
  8. If I was czar: Districts Tourney- 1 and out top 2 teams advance (host rotates) Regional Tourney- 1 and out top 2 teams advance (host rotates) Super Regional- 4 regions 8 teams in a 2 and out format at a college campus. 1 team since it's a 2 and out. State Finals- 4 teams come together at the best field in the state in a 2 and out format. 2 and outs gives the opportunity to overcome 1 bad game. If 2 teams are advancing anyway so make those rounds a 1 & out That's why I am not the czar! Simply NO MORE temporary fenced NO MORE huge infields! Simply give the girls same respect you give the other sports in Kentucky!
  9. What an awesome season it was! I don't know when coach of the year comes out, but if Coach Coffey doesn't win it there is something wrong with the system! My DD had a GREAT SENIOR season (not an individual statement because there are no individual awards) but was on a TEAM of wonderful young ladies that had a GREAT RUN! Finished 27-13 Won 19 in a row! Swept District opponents and won district tournament! Beat the best of the best in the 9th Region with key wins over Conner, Ryle, Boone (in the regional Semis), Notre Dame (in the regional finals in a crazy comeback). Went to state got Highlands first win in the state tournament vs Estill Co! Ran into a HOT hitting Owensboro Appollo team that hit 5 or 6 Homeruns in front of a huge home crowd! Then in the loser bracket faced the Ashland team who's pitcher had recently been named Gatoraide Player of the year! She threw a 1 hitter vs Highlands to end the 2014 season. Highlands will be returning some of the best players in the region! Thank you all for the great memories!
  10. The ball went over the fence. It was originally ruled a homerun and the official took the winning homerun away! It's a shame that the KHSAA came out with such a slap in the face response. Should of just said dude blew it and they are sorry! In the future we will give the young ladies the same respect we give the young men and play on approved sized fields meeting the criteria set by the KHSAA! It was an awesome experience to see 16 teams come in with that much enthusiasm and excitement at one place.
  11. I was there and saw the entire interaction between KHSAA official and camerman. First the cameraman was trying to show the umpire the footage. The KHSAA official told him to get in the media box or leave the field!! Then after the coach from Johnson City was thrown out of the game after 30 minutes. The camerman was interviewing the coach and the KHSAA official came up and told him the coach had to leave the park and asked him for the footage. It was my opinion that he wanted it because everyone was saying it's going to be on the news tonight and it is going to be BAD! The camerman explained it's not even his video. Then there was a lady official walking around with 2 policemen wanting increased presence in the parking lot!! The bad part was it was obvious. The Highlands girls were warming up out beyond fence and it almost hit meat puppy.
  12. The statement is Bull!!! Playing a state championship at a slow pitch softball field is a slap in the sports face!! Then to go with a cheap fix like a PVC Temporary fencing at a state championship game is a joke. Once again girls softball doesn't have the deep pockets or a loud enough voice to get treated with the respect they deserve!!! Do you think they would play any other high school sport on a field not even designed for the game. The dirt infield extends 55 feet beyond the bases. Isn't there a standard for size of infield?
  13. I just heard KHSAA took the cameraman footage of the homerun or I should say the missed call.
  14. Does anybody know who the crew was? Those umpires should never be able to call another game!! Post the names
  15. The 2 girls at top of Estill Co. lineup could absolutely fly!
  16. I was hoping to meet you! I enjoy the fact you bring some of the eastern Kentucky games to the board. My family is from Owsley and Breathitt. Anyway good luck today if you see the hefty smurf (blue hair- I told the girls they win region I color my hair blue) around or get a chance to stop out at the RV with the Welcome to the birdcage stop on by and introduce yourself several BGP guys will be around.
  17. Bottom 6 4-1. Got out of 2 on no out. Quillen made a nice double play
  18. They got out of bases loaded 1 out jam. Top 4. 2-1
