Didn't get to go to the game tonight but heard that the Camels played well. I really think this is our year, the team really plays together. Going to be an exciting year.

Camels played well tonight. Outplayed the Birds in my opinion.

 

Birds need to start hitting. They know that. They started slow last year as well. Takes the Bball players some time to get rolling and get everything gelling.

So did Leicht pitch a great game on the mound for the Camels or are the Birds still shell shocked from the caliber of teams they have been playing?

Got there at the Top of 6th and the game knotted at 1-1. Camels had opportunity in the top of 7 with one on an 1 out, but a double play on a pop-up bunt ended that threat.

 

Highlands gets the "W" in the bottom of the 7th, when with 1 out the camels pitcher issues her only walks of the game......and with runners on 1st and 2nd, Spencer hits a one-hopper to 2nd who flips on to the covering SS who drops the ball and runner at 2nd scores.....Ballgame.

Sorry for the delay but here we go...

The Lady Camels came ready to play in this one.. Both Spencer and Leicht had good command of the tight strike zone last night. Both only issuing 1 BB each. Spencer had 5 Ks against 1 for Leicht. Not much going on offensively for either team and the defenses had a lot to do with that. 6 hits for the Camels against only 7 for the Birds. There were some stellar plays in the field last night and probably the highlight was the diving catch by 2B Peterson of CCHS behind first in the bottom of the sixth.

 

Miller from CCHS is super fast and laid down a nice bunt single in the first.. Catcher Josie Daley erased her though on her steal attempt with a laser to H Coffey covering the steal. HHS adjusted the defense on her and it seemed to work. H Coffey made another awesome play on her later in the game fielding a pop up in foul ground keeping the speedster off the bases. The Birds could only muster 2 hits over the first two frames. Dutcher in the first and Daley in the second.

 

The scoring started in the 3rd after Coffey single to left, Sac Bunt by Spencer and a Dutcher single to left scoring Coffey. After the Miller bunt single, Spencer held the Camels hitless until the top of the fourth with an Orick 2B. Walsh followed with another double to left scoring Orick to knot the game up.

 

CCHS threatened to take the lead in the top of the sixth with a Walsh single, Tehaar HBP. Pop up to second, Leicht then reached on an error but Walsh was forced at third. Baioni stopped the threat fielding a fly to right.

 

CCHS put a runner on in the seventh but with the shift on, Miller bunted into a pop up double play... Barth to Dutcher

 

In the seventh for the Birds... Pop up to Leicht, Dill beat out a single to short, H Coffey BB, Ground ball by Spencer to 2B flip to SS... Drops ball and Dill scores from second on a close play on the error to end the game

I thought the CC pitcher pitched a very good game. Birds have the potential and expectation to have a very strong lineup and she held them down. She did her job last night! IMO. And CC had some very nice defensive plays as well.

 

It's kinda hard to answer your question and determine how good she did because the Birds haven't really hit anyone good yet this year...so far. Again, they know that and they did the same thing last year...and the year before! For some reason they aren't great out of the gate!

I know the Birds faced some serious pitching the week prior, but I didn't think Leicht was that slow. :idunno:

Come on BigGreenHorse!!! 38-41MPH??? Are you serious?? I guess you looked at the Rankings and it made the Horsey upset that CC is Ranked above Brossart :lol2: If you are bashing our pitcher, I wouldn't go there because yours isn't breaking any records BY FAR :sssh: I think I heard when you scrimmaged Highlands, Bishop Brossart was :poop:ing GREEN for a Week!:lol: Maybe your pitcher was pitching the perfect speed to knock the crap out of the ball. I totally agree, sorry BigGreenHorse, but there is no way our pitcher only throws 38mph. You may want to put new batteries in your radar gun :ohbrother:
